Continuity: In episode 3-19 "Every Rose has its Thorns", in the beginning when Patrick is talking to the widow Erica Flynn at the police station, when she first leaves the interrogation room the zipper in the back of her dress is down about four inches. As she is walking to the elevator, when she goes into the elevator and turns, you see that it is now zipped up completely.
Continuity: In "The Red Ponies" episode in season three, originally broadcast on October 21, 2010, the murderer is running full speed directly at Grace, who moves to intercept him. In the next scene she is shown bringing him down from behind.
Deliberate "mistake": Season 2, Episode 5 "Red Scare" - When the investigators are in the basement wine cellar, they turn on their flashlights to illuminate the pitch black area as they walk around. However there is a light source moving with the camera shining on them as they are casting a shadow behind them.
Continuity: In 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn'. In the scene where Agent Lisbon is asking Jane why he's obsessed with the woman he's investigating, Lisbon's pen is in her right hand. But when she waves, the pen has disappeared, but in the next shot it's back in her hand.
Continuity: When Jane speaks to the owners of the restaurant, the female owner is writing something and also has a drink. She takes the drink with the pen in the same hand. When the shots changes, the pen is no longer in her hand. The shot goes back to the original position and the pen appears again.
Continuity: At the end, Lisbon gives Christine's father a card and tells him to get help for his alcoholism. The way she holds the card differs between shots.
Continuity: The victim's father comes face to face with Flipper at CBI and he lunges towards Flipper. Lisbon stops him. At first her right hand is on his left shoulder. Cut to the shot from behind, the same hand is now under his left armpit.
Continuity: After Lisbon gives Patrick the $100 he is seen walking to the table handling chips. But when he sits down, only then does he convert the notes to chips.
Continuity: Dale Blakely punches Patrick in the nose for talking to his wife. In pain, Patrick first holds his nose with his right hand. Cut and it's his left hand. The hands alternate throughout the scene.
Other: Carrie the assistant brings Lisbon and Jane to Stutzer's office. She swipes her card to open the door. However, she does this upside down, swiping the bar-code instead of the black magnetic strip, on which she is holding.
Continuity: This happens right at the very end at the hotel room in Mexico. Jane and Lisbon are sitting on the bed and the cellphone rings. It's Red John calling. There's a beer bottle next to the phone on a round table. At first the label faces towards the middle of the table. When Jane picks the phone up, the label now faces the other way.
Character mistake: In the scene where Rigsby takes the envelope out of the mail box, he says, 'Postmarked 20th December.' But in full view of the camera, it's postmarked 28th December.
Continuity: S02E04 - Red Menace. Jane is teaching the victim's son how to drive. His seat belt is alternatively fastened and unfastened.
Other: When Jane is setting up for his escape from prison, he captures a wild mouse. Then he presumably holds her in his hand for the whole time. I've handled mice, and when they're scared, they bite hard enough to take chunks out. There's no way a wild mouse would stay in human's fist that long without drawing blood.
Continuity: S02E06 - Black Gold and Red Blood. Lisbon comes to visit Jane in prison. She brings him a muffin in a white paper bag. In shots facing Jane, the bag faces outward. In shots facing Lisbon, the bag faces towards the middle of the table.
Continuity: Lisbon is telling the CDC agent that the scientist's death is a homicide. The agent has an ear piece in his left ear in close-up shots. In all other shots, the piece isn't in his ear.
