The High Chaparral (1967) - 46 mistakes in whole show
Across whole show
Revealing: 3-25 "Generation": Due to budget cuts in the 3rd season, an L.A. soundstage replica of the ranch house replaced the outdoor set, which was in Old Tuscon. The replacement was often painfully obvious. In this episode, a stock exterior shot of the real house, with its outside walls undecorated, contrasts with the mock-up, which has mounted cattle horns all over it.
Continuity: 3-6, "To Stand For Something More": Much fuss is made throughout this episode about Blue being left in charge of the High Chaparral "for the first time." But it isn't the first time. He was left in charge once before, in the previous season, and no one made a big deal of it in that episode at all.
Factual error: Though High Chaparral had a windmill and a water tower, there were no pipes to deliver water to the house - just a well that appeared in the yard only when called for in the script. They had plenty of eggs, but no chicken coops, and though Victoria always had fresh flowers in the house, we never saw a garden. We also never saw the ranch outhouse, but no surprise there: no one on TV in the 60s ever had a bathroom.
