Continuity mistake: In the episode the team is discussing the unsub. He was a man who believed he was Tara's brother. They do not know his name yet. JJ says "He must have put Gabriel's whole life inside of Desmond". Only later does Garcia find out the unsub's name is Desmond Holt. (00:15:22 - 00:18:20)

Proof - S7-E2

Continuity mistake: When Cy sneaks into the house with the key under the mat, in the bedroom he picks up the triple gold frame with two photos of Matt with Lyla and one photo of young Lyla in the blue dress in the center frame, then he holds it to his face and places it back on the right side of the dresser. However, after Cy hears Lyla coming into the house, when she sees the underwear on the bedroom floor the frame on the right side of the dresser is now a double wood frame with only one of the same photos seen earlier.

Damaged - S3-E14

Continuity mistake: At the start of this episode Rossi tells Garcia about the case he's obsessed with, "It's the 20th anniversary of this crime. Twenty years tomorrow, three children woke up and found their parents murdered." However, during S3xE11 "Birthright," while working on their current Wilkinson case, Rossi shows Caulfield (the sheriff of the original Wilkinson case from 1980) the victim's charm bracelet he carries, then tells him about the Indianapolis case he's never forgotten, and how every year since then he's called the victims' children. And later, after Caulfield tells Rossi it's been 27 years since his own unsolved case, he asks Rossi how long it's been for him and Rossi says, "21," then Caulfield cautions, "Don't let it get to 22."

A Thousand Suns - S10-E3

Continuity mistake: The original plane is a 747, (four engines on the wings, two aisles). The plane that Reid gets the plans for is a 727 tri-jet (three engines on the tail and one aisle, not wide body). The plane in the walk through by Reid is a wide body of some sort, but not a 747 (two aisles with three seats in the middle).

Unfinished Business - S1-E15

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene (after the credits), Elle's hair is in bangs. In the scene where they discuss the killer using zip ties instead of ropes her bangs have suddenly grown in. (00:05:05 - 00:15:45)

The Caller - S9-E10

Continuity mistake: At the beginning, a St Louis couple has reported their son missing. At the FBI briefing, the agents are told that the boy's mother tucked him in at 10:00pm. A few minutes later, we hear the radio call over footage of police at the home, and the dispatcher says "Last seen at 2100." That's 9:00pm, not 10:00pm. (00:03:00 - 00:05:00)

A Real Rain - S1-E17

Continuity mistake: When Gideon puts on a glove to examine the flint blade from the fourth victim's head, the glove snaps and breaks. In the next shot, more close up, Gideon's glove is not broken.

The Sandman - S11-E17

Continuity mistake: After Garcia traces the phone call, Morgan and Rossi are shown driving to the area of the cell tower. When the shot is from outside the car, the car is a 10th generation (07-14) Chevy Suburban. When the shot changes to inside the car, it's an 11th gen (15-16).

Route 66 - S9-E5

Continuity mistake: In the video of the Chicago robbery they enter the building at 08:27 according to the timecode displayed, but they exit at 15:32. Seven hours is a very long robbery.

Protection - S10-E22

Continuity mistake: The old lady victim under the bridge has a change in clothes. When the shooting happens she is wearing a red jumper and what looks like flowery red top, when the team arrives at the crime scene she is wearing a grey jumper and a white polka dot top. (00:15:54 - 00:26:30)

Suggested correction: The change of clothes happens in every crime scene/flashback to show us the killer's delusion. If you pay attention, it happens with the girl whose boyfriend gets killed and also with the cop/mailman.

Damaged - S3-E14

Continuity mistake: When Rossi is telling Prentiss, Morgan, and JJ about the original Galen case, he says that the Galen parents were butchered with an axe, but in "Birthright", he tells Detective Caulfield that they were beaten to death.

Somebody's Watching - S1-E18

Continuity mistake: When Reid and Lila are in the pool, kissing, he explains how it is wrong that they are out in the open, and in a pool. Lila then kisses him again, and the paparazzo in the bushes takes pictures. In the first shot of this kiss, a close-up of Reid and Lila, her arms are down by her sides, but when seen through the camera, her arms are suddenly around his neck. Back to a close-up, and her arms are once again down in the water.

A Real Rain - S1-E17

About Face - S3-E6

Continuity mistake: Senior SSA David Rossi is clean-shaven in the beginning and middle of the episode. Toward the end of the episode, which takes place over mere days, he has magically grown a full mustache and beard which disappears and reappears in the last scenes.

The Popular Kids - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: In the scene when the investigators at the police station realize who the killer is, the deputy enters and says that a revolver is missing. However, when Cory pulls out the weapon in the woods, he is holding a semi-automatic pistol. The deputy would know the difference between the two, but still uses the wrong term (a revolver may be referred to as a pistol, but an automatic like Cory had stolen can never be called a "revolver", as the chamber does not revolve).

The Boogeyman - S2-E6

Continuity mistake: When the guidance counselor is addressing the community members, Reid is standing against the wall with his arms crossed, and then immediately after his hands are in his pockets, and you see him crossing his arms.

Continuity mistake: The BAU has its 'own' airplane in use at the FBI. However the type of plane used varies between episodes and even within an episode (and even for at least one episode within one shot; see previous post). Although it would be likely for the BAU to have one dedicated airplane at least within one episode, it could be they time-share and so different planes are used. No matter what plane they are using, one thing never changes and that's the interior of the planes. So even when a different type of plane is used (e.g. Gulf Stream V vs. 100), the interior remains the same.

What Happens at Home... - S6-E10

Character mistake: After the murder that takes place while the team is at the church meeting, they gather together to talk about narrowing down the suspect list to the people who didn't show up to the meeting. Spencer shows up with a stack of papers and says 18 suspects didn't show up. We then see his actor break character and almost laughs when he looks over at Ashley, whose actress too almost breaks character from laughing.

Limelight - S3-E13

David Rossi: When I interviewed Bundy, he had a theory about pornography. He said "If you want to stop people from becoming like me, don't burn Catcher in the Rye."
Aaron Hotchner: "Burn Hustler." I read your books, too, Dave.

Question: I never saw the whole episode, only near the end of it twice. The episode was about a boy about 10 or 11 who took a girl his age Into the Woods so he could kill her using a baseball bat. What was the name of this episode and what was the reason for him wanting to kill her?

Answer: "The Boogeyman", s02e06. Spoiler alert: The kid is Jeffrey Charles and at that point he had already killed 3 other kids. Jefferey basically hated and resented other kids after his mother abandoned him and his father spent a lot of time with other children because of her job. Jeffery would lure kids Into the Woods and then beat them to death with his bat just because of hate, no particular "reason." The scene you're describing, Jefferey agrees to walk Tracy home when her "buddy" leaves her (at this point the FBI announced there's a serial killer on the loose and kids should walk with a buddy). Jeffrey gets mad at Tracy for walking too slow and for complaining, and he takes a swing at her, causing her to flee Into the Woods and have Jeffery chase her.
