Continuity: At the end of "World War Three" there is a side shot of The Doctor leaving the TARDIS in which you can see inside, but the control room isn't visible, just the side on the police box. In "The Runaway Bride" there is a shot from the same angle, but this time the control room is visible.

The Doctor: [Perusing a British tabloid in Rose's flat.] Oh, that'll never work. He's gay and she's an alien.

Rose (season 1, episode 1)
Deliberate "mistake": The final Auton attack in this episode is supposed to take place in a busy London street, but it is a pedestrianised area, and several shots reveal this. For example, there are no road markings visible, no apparent distinction between pavement and road, and a bus stop appears to sit in the middle of the 'road'.
Factual error: In the opening shot of this episode, we see the Earth from space. The camera then zooms into Western Europe, the UK, London, then into Rose Tyler's flat, where a jump cut to an alarm clock shows its 7:30am. But look again at the start of that sequence: it shows that it's daylight over the UK - and over the USA. This is of course impossible. When it is 7:30am in London, it is 2:30am in New York, as Eastern Time is 5 hours behind UK time. Usually, in New York, at 2:30am it is not daylight because it is the middle of the night.
Revealing: The Doctor and Rose locate the "metal" hatch that leads down into the "Plastic's Leader" blob. Watch carefully after the Doctor removes the "metal" hatch and moves it aside. The entire hatch "pops-up" a second later. This is because it is plastic and it was suctioned to the floor.
The End of the World (season 1, episode 2)
Continuity: Rose Tyler's hairstyle changes from shot to shot when she is discussing being 'the last human' with Cassandra. Rose's hair is in one style for the long shots, and another style for the close-ups.
Continuity: As the room that Rose is in gets scorched by the blazing sun, the level of burning is above her head in close up shots, but at Rose's shoulder level on wide shots.
The Unquiet Dead (season 1, episode 3)
Factual error: When Rose is locked in the room and the bodies come toward her, you can see a modern-day electric light-switch to the side of the door she's trying to get through. As the Doctor runs down the hall toward her, you can see a central heating radiator. Both are wildly anachronistic for the time period.
Factual error: Dickens uses the phrase "On with the motley." which is anachronistically incorrect. The phrase translates from "vesti la giubba", a line of dialogue from the opera 'I Pagliacci'. The opera wasn't written until 1892, and wasn't translated into English until 1902 (by Enrico Caruso).
Other: At the end, The Doctor and Rose treat Charles Dickens by making the TARDIS dematerialise in front of him. The engines begin to grind but the twin engine pumps do not move.
Aliens of London (1) (season 1, episode 4)
Revealing: When the Alien spacecraft crashes into Big Ben, it is obvious that the shot has been reversed/flipped around. Look at the Roman numerals on Big Bens's clock face: They should read (clockwise from the top) XII, I, II, III, and so. Instead they read IIX, IX, X, etc.
World War Three (2) (season 1, episode 5)
Factual error: The reference to the UK needing special "secret launch codes" from the UN is a compete fiction. The UK could launch a nuclear strike without needing permission from the UN. The UK would, however, need permission from the United STATES (not United NATIONS) to launch a nuclear strike, as the Polaris missiles are leased from the US Government (although the UK owns the warheads).
Dalek (season 1, episode 6)
Revealing: Dalek is escaping and enters the large room with the soldiers. He starts the sprinklers so he can kill them faster. When they show the dead soldiers they show some casings which were ejected from the soldiers' guns. The casings still have projectiles in them. If used, they would have been in magazines (clips) and would never fall out like they are shown.
Father's Day (season 1, episode 8)
Plot hole: In "Aliens of London" it is established on a 'missing person' poster that Rose Tyler is approximately 19 years of age in March 2005 (The poster says 'missing since 6 March 2005'). This means that she must have been born prior to March 1986. However, in 'Father's Day', which is dated 7 November 1987, Rose is still a baby in her mother's arms - but she should be a toddler aged approx two.
The Empty Child (1) (season 1, episode 9)
Plot hole: Nancy seems to have the unique ability to whistle with her fingers in her mouth - even though she's wearing gloves.
Continuity: When The Doctor takes to the Nightclub stage to ask if anything has fallen from the sky, he has his right hand and arm up and gesticulating. But in several other shots of him from behind, it is his LEFT arm that is up and moving.
The Doctor Dances (2) (season 1, episode 9)
Factual error: Written on the side of the German bomb Jack is sitting on are the words "Schlechter Wolf". which is a mistranslation of the English "Bad Wolf". It should have been "Böser Wolf". Böse = bad, as in evil. Schlecht = bad, as in rotten, as in 'the milk has gone bad'. You are unlikely to say that the milk has 'gone evil'.
The Empty Child (1) (season 1, episode 9)
Deliberate "mistake": During the scene where Jack is scanning the gas mask people, he has a scanner on his right wrist. However, when he shows Rose and The Doctor his image of the Tula warship, the scanner is on his left wrist. The makers flipped the stretch of film, according to the commentary, to make the shot work.
The Doctor Dances (2) (season 1, episode 10)
Factual error: Magnetic tape recorders weren't available outside of Germany during World War II. True the tape recorder could have been captured from the Germans, but, as it was "cutting edge" technology for 1941, it would hardy likely to have ended up in a hospital office.
Factual error: Look closely at some of the freight wagons at 'Limehouse Green' railway station: several of them appear to have 'British Rail Freightliner' livery. This episode is set in 1941, but British Rail did not exist until 1948, and the Freightliner Division did not exist until the 1980s.
Boom Town (season 1, episode 11)
Revealing: The 'earthquake' that takes place in this episode results in CGI-created cracks in the pavement that are very unconvincing. They do not appear to displace anything and - in a related continuity error - the cracks disappear in shots taken from ground level (the cracks are only visible in high-level 'looking down' shots.
Factual error: Emergency Service vehicles in Cardiff (indeed, throughout Wales) have their signs in bilingual English/Welsh. So the Police cars and Ambulances seen in this episode should have 'Heddlu'/'Police' and 'Ambwlance'/'Ambulance' bilingual logos. However all the Police Cars and Ambulances seen in this episode have their logos in English only.
Bad Wolf (1) (season 1, episode 12)
Continuity: As the Doctor, Captain Jack and Lynda with a Y have been captured, the Doctor turns his head to the right, then after it cuts it shows him turning his head again and saying "Lets Do It".
Plot hole: The Doctor claims the Daleks are hiding themselves from sonar. But sonar relies on sound waves, which can't travel through the vacuum of space.so The Doctor is talking nonsense.
The Christmas Invasion (season 2, episode 2)
Audio problem: When the Doctor is proving his identity to Harriet Jones by telling her about when they were trapped together at Downing Street, his words don't match the movements of his jaw when we see him from behind - the timing's all off.
Other: In the scene after the Christmas tree has been destroyed in the flat the Doctor, Rose, Jackie and Mickey are standing outside, the robot Santa's do not have any gloves on showing human hands.
Plot hole: The Sycorax begin speaking English for all of the humans because the TARDIS is suddenly activated when the Doctor wakes up. However, it is stated elsewhere in the series that the TARDIS only translates for those who have been in the TARDIS, which Harriet and her translator haven't.
Continuity: 2005 Christmas special, the Christmas invasion : When the Unit soldiers aim at the controlled people, you can see that they have the same weapons as the guards on the game station in the year 2001.
New Earth (season 2, episode 4)
Plot hole: Those people created for medical experiments cannot run. In fact they can barely walk, so how come they can climb nearly as fast as Rose? What's more, when you see them climbing, they seem to have little ability to coordinate hand over hand. Even with the delay brought on by the cat-woman-thing, they should not have been able to keep up with her.
Continuity: When the Doctor has strapped the bags of IV fluid to himself, the colour of the fluid in the bags strapped to his chest changes between shots.
School Reunion (season 2, episode 6)
Revealing: At the end when Sarah Jane is walking towards the Tardis and the Doctor opens the doors the inside of the Tardis is obviously a painting.
Continuity: When Mickey enters the School Computer Room, dozens of pupils are busy typing, and every one of them is also wearing headphones. However, once Mickey unplugs the main connection for the computers, and shouts "EVERYBODY GET OUT. NOW," no one is wearing headphones.
The Girl in the Fireplace (season 2, episode 7)
Factual error: Madame de Pompadour calls herself "Reinette" in 1727, whereas in actual fact, this was a nickname meaning "Little Queen" which was not given to her until 1730.
Continuity: When the Doctor is trying to fix the connection from the past to the future through the fireplace, the background of the spaceship can be seen behind the flames whilst there is no connection.
Continuity: When Rose is giving the 5 year warning to Reinette, she's got a noticeable spot on her chin. When Reinette goes behind the tapestry and sees the ship, Rose's spot has suddenly vanished.
Continuity: When Madame de Pompadour is walking in the gardens with her friend, the Doctor ducks down behind a pillar so he will not be seen. He puts his hands on the pillar but in the next shot they are gone, then they are back again.
Factual error: When the Doctor enters Renette's room for the first time, he pulls back the curtain and looks out of the window. We see that it is heavily snowing on the famous French cathedral of Notre Dame. It is impossible to see Notre Dame from the windows of the chateau de Versailles, as Notre Dame is in the centre of Paris and Versailles is on the outskirts.
Rise of the Cybermen (1) (season 2, episode 8)
Visible crew/equipment: Everytime we see a close up of Mickey's grandmother's face, we can see the crew and camera reflected in her glasses.
Continuity: At the beginning of this episode Big Ben has a square face, yet at the end of the next episode it's a round face.
Continuity: When Rose is sitting on a bench and she gets a news report on her phone, look at the top of the phone screen - it says the time is 11:35. However, several minutes later, when the Doctor and Mickey find Rose, the clock says it's only 11:36.
The Age of Steel (2) (season 2, episode 9)
Factual error: When Rose gets the message there are two things wrong with what you see on the phones screen: firstly on the top right of the screen you can see the icon for mute even though you heard the beep, and secondly that screen is for when you type in the number you want to call (text), not the screen for receiving a text.
Continuity: While hiding behind the mini-skips, Rose and Pete hold hands. After a cut to close up, they hold hands again.
Continuity: When The Cyber-man is hit by the electro magnetic bomb, it falls to its knees, then backwards. Yet in the next shot, it is flat on its back, with its leg extended.
The Idiot's Lantern (season 2, episode 10)
Revealing: During the scene in which The Doctor is climbing the transmitter, there is a shot in which he is viewed from above and is then struck by lightning. In this shot, The Doctor's foot disappears briefly as it leaves the green screen on the ground under the actor.
Continuity: When The Doctor first gets on his scooter, we see Rose putting her helmet on before she gets on, but she doesn't do her chin strap up. When we next see her, on the bike, her strap is done up.
The Impossible Planet (1) (season 2, episode 11)
Factual error: Ida, the science officer, says that the planet is in geostationary orbit around the black hole. However, the word "geostationary" applies very specifically to objects orbiting the planet Earth. Since a black hole is a type of star, this planet's orbit could be described as astrostationary, or even just stationary, but definitely not as geostationary. A science expert on an interstellar mission wouldn't make this mistake, and she wasn't dumbing things down, either, since "geostationary orbit" is already a pretty obscure topic for people unfamiliar with space technology.
Love & Monsters (season 2, episode 13)
Continuity: When Ursula is filming Elton outside his old house, the digital camera produces a distorted picture and has four white lines in the corners. But, after Elton's flashback, Ursula is still filming but the picture is straight and the lines are gone.
Fear Her (season 2, episode 14)
Visible crew/equipment: Season 2: Episode 11 - Fear Her: When the Doctor starts sniffing in a man's garden, just before Rose says she can smell metal, the camera is reflected in the house's window.
Factual error: The Police motorcycle in front of the Olympic runner is an S registration, meaning it was registered in 1998. The episode is set in 2012, and there is no way the Police would have such an old vehicle on active duty.
Army of Ghosts (1) (season 2, episode 15)
Continuity: Season 2: Episode 12 - Army of Ghosts: At the start when we see Rose on the bus, a bald man sits down on the seat behind her. However, when the camera is inside the bus, he is sitting two seats behind her, without enough time for him to move.
Continuity: When the head Torchwood woman is showing the Doctor through Torchwood after leaving the TARDIS, she goes to push a door open into the main building with one hand, but when the camera cuts to them entering the building she pushes them open with two hands.
Continuity: When Yvonne is taking the Doctor and Jackie to the Sphere Room, there is a sign opposite the door that has the words "Torchwood Institute". In the next shot where you can see the corridor from inside the Sphere Chamber, the sign has disappeared. It reappears again when Rose is going into the Sphere Chamber, but this time it has directions to the Reception, Canteen and Lever Room as well as "Torchwood Institute". It also disappears again when you see the corridor from inside the Chamber.
Doomsday (2) (season 2, episode 16)
Continuity: The Doctor phones Jackie just as she runs past a sign which says E6. However, she later looks at a sign which says E3. Figures refer to staircase numbers, not floor numbers.
Continuity: Series 2 - Cybermen vs Daleks
When the two Cybermen meet the Dalek for the first time, they are exterminated. They fall directly in front of the Dalek, but when the camera angle changes to show the second Cyberman hitting the floor side on, you can see the Dalek in the background. The Cybermen both fell straight forward, so it shouldn't have been possible to see the Dalek when seeing the Cyberman side on in the next shot, as the Dalek is facing them both directly.
Revealing: When the Doctor calls Rose when she is with the Daleks, you can see on the screen of her phone that the call has been going on for at least 57 seconds, but she just answered the call.
Smith and Jones (season 3, episode 1)
Factual error: A reflection of a full moon is shown at the end. But when Earth is viewed from the moon, half of it is in the light. For a full moon to take place, most of the Earth would have to be dark.
Continuity: When the Plasmavore drinks the Doctor's blood, she inserts her straw into his neck just under his jaw on the right-hand side. However, when Martha starts CPR on the Doctor after the Judoon leave, there is no visible wound from the straw's penetration.
Other: Considering the Jadoon have just walked across the Moon from their ship, there's very little Moon dust on their boots. Maybe they have advanced alien boots which repel this kind of thing.
The Shakespeare Code (season 3, episode 2)
Other: The Globe has (and had) 20 sides, not 14.
Daleks in Manhattan (1) (season 3, episode 4)
Revealing: When the people in Hoovertown are meeting around the campfire, it's raining. However, everyone's clothes and hats are completely dry.
Evolution of the Daleks (2) (season 3, episode 5)
Other: In the scene where Tallulah, Frank, and Martha are looking through the plans on the top of the Empire State Building, Tallulah goes to look out at the view. From the top of the Empire State Building, she can see the city and from her POV the Empire State Building is well lit up center frame. It shows the same shot several times throughout the episode.
The Family of Blood (2) (season 3, episode 9)
Character mistake: When Headmaster Rocastle is outside in front of the school, he is talking directly to Jeremy Banes. He tells him that "people have died". However, the Headmaster addresses him as "Mr. Smith". Mr. Smith is the name the Doctor assumed when he became human.
Blink (season 3, episode 10)
Audio problem: While Billy Shipton is showing Sally Sparrow the TARDIS (in the room where he keeps the abandoned cars), just after he says, '[You] can't even get in it', he rattles the TARDIS' handle to demonstrate. Watch carefully: When he shakes the handle we hear a rattling noise as if the door is shaking, but in fact the door stays rock solid.
Continuity: When Lawrence is watching the weeping angel, just after seeing the Doctor's film/easter egg, he turnes away for a split second. By the time he turns back, you see the weeping angel's face only inches from Lawrence's face. Yet, you then cut to a wide shot were you see the angel's arms outstretched, so its face is about half a metre away from Lawrence's face.
The Sound of Drums (2) (season 3, episode 12)
Factual error: The army shoot at Martha's car and you can see sparks where the bullets bounce off her windscreen. But, at that close range, one of those things can go through a brick! I know you're supposed to allow a bit of disbelief, but this is taking it too far.
Last of the Time Lords (3) (season 3, episode 13)
Continuity: Just after The Master destroys the gun in four parts, there is a shot from exactly the same angle and the bag has disappeared. There is then a shot from the other direction and the wreckage is still there.
The Runaway Bride (season 3, episode 99)
Plot hole: When The Doctor is taking Donna to 4.6 billion BC to watch the Earth Formation, he says that it is the furthest back the TARDIS has ever been. But in the 5th Doctor episode "Castrovalva" the TARDIS drifts to 13.2 billion BC and the formation of the galaxy.
Voyage of the Damned (season 3, episode 99)
Continuity: When Mr. Copper is talking about how what they're doing could get them ten years in jail, the cut on his forehead changes sides.
All of series 4 (season 4)
Continuity: At the end of "The Stolen Earth", when the Doctor is watching his hand starting to glow, shots from his point of view show that he's holding it vertically. But shots from the opposite view show that he's holding it horizontally.
Deliberate "mistake": Episode 4.14: "The Planet Of The Dead": At the beginning of the episode, the police are chasing the bus and they give the numberplate as starting with 'Whiskey zero four seven' (Or something similar). That is W047, yet later on when the flying bus comes through the rift in time/space, the numberplate is completely different. This is because whilst filming in Dubai, the original bus broke down and had to be replaced.
Continuity: Episode 4-12, "The Stolen Earth": In the scene toward the end where the Doctor is shot by the Dalek, when the camera is shooting from Rose's point of view, the Doctor is gasping and struggling for breath. However when the camera shows the Doctor from behind, he's lying completely still in Rose's arms. The camera cuts back to Rose's POV and he's struggling again, with no time in between for the change in his movements.
Partners in Crime (season 4, episode 1)
Continuity: At the end of the episode, Donna piles suitcases in the Doctor's arms in preparation to leave with him in the TARDIS, and places a striped hat box on top. The bags stay that way for a while as the camera cuts back and forth between them, and you can see the stack of luggage as the camera films the Doctor from behind. Then, as soon as the camera cuts back to the Doctor's face when Donna leaves to give her mother the car keys, suddenly he has one bag under his arm and another in his hand, and the rest of the bags are on the ground with the hat box stacked neatly on top.
Continuity: When Miss Foster uses her sonic device on the window-washer's crane, she points it at the right-side cable, but it's the left-side cable that breaks.
Other: The security guards shoot away the lock on the door, which they then kick down with no real effort. But the door would still be held in place by the hinges - they don't kick it with enough force to rip the hinges out, and even if they had, we can see that there's no damage on the hinge side of the door anyway to demonstrate their forcible removal.
The Doctor's Daughter (season 4, episode 6)
Other: Episode, 'The Doctor's Daughter': When Jenny does somersaults through the laser beams, the last two beams are level horizontally and the higher beam is lower than her foot so she should have broken it.
Silence in the Library (1) (season 4, episode 8)
Continuity: After the girl is killed, we see her communicator as her "ghost" slowly fades. In one shot we see from a slight distance the lights left lit tick down to 3, then a short while passes, we cut back and the lights are back to 4. They then tick down to 3 again.
Forest of the Dead (2) (season 4, episode 9)
Continuity: Near the end of "Silence in the Libary," a sweeping shot shows that they're standing between two freestanding bookshelves. But at the beginning of this one, when they're supposed to be in the same place, they're able to break through a wall into a separate room.
