Doctor Who (2005) - 31 mistakes in series 2

Plot hole: Those people created for medical experiments cannot run. In fact they can barely walk, so how come they can climb nearly as fast as Rose? What's more, when you see them climbing, they seem to have little ability to coordinate hand over hand. Even with the delay brought on by the cat-woman-thing, they should not have been able to keep up with her.

Factual error: Ida, the science officer, says that the planet is in geostationary orbit around the black hole. However, the word "geostationary" applies very specifically to objects orbiting the planet Earth. Since a black hole is a type of star, this planet's orbit could be described as astrostationary, or even just stationary, but definitely not as geostationary. A science expert on an interstellar mission wouldn't make this mistake, and she wasn't dumbing things down, either, since "geostationary orbit" is already a pretty obscure topic for people unfamiliar with space technology.

Visible crew/equipment: Season 2: Episode 11 - Fear Her: When the Doctor starts sniffing in a man's garden, just before Rose says she can smell metal, the camera is reflected in the house's window.

Audio problem: When the Doctor is proving his identity to Harriet Jones by telling her about when they were trapped together at Downing Street, his words don't match the movements of his jaw when we see him from behind - the timing's all off.

Revealing: During the scene in which The Doctor is climbing the transmitter, there is a shot in which he is viewed from above and is then struck by lightning. In this shot, The Doctor's foot disappears briefly as it leaves the green screen on the ground under the actor.

Continuity: When The Doctor first gets on his scooter, we see Rose putting her helmet on before she gets on, but she doesn't do her chin strap up. When we next see her, on the bike, her strap is done up.

Factual error: Madame de Pompadour calls herself "Reinette" in 1727, whereas in actual fact, this was a nickname meaning "Little Queen" which was not given to her until 1730.

Continuity: Season 2: Episode 12 - Army of Ghosts: At the start when we see Rose on the bus, a bald man sits down on the seat behind her. However, when the camera is inside the bus, he is sitting two seats behind her, without enough time for him to move.

Continuity: When the head Torchwood woman is showing the Doctor through Torchwood after leaving the TARDIS, she goes to push a door open into the main building with one hand, but when the camera cuts to them entering the building she pushes them open with two hands.

Factual error: When Rose gets the message there are two things wrong with what you see on the phones screen: firstly on the top right of the screen you can see the icon for mute even though you heard the beep, and secondly that screen is for when you type in the number you want to call (text), not the screen for receiving a text.

Continuity: When the Doctor is trying to fix the connection from the past to the future through the fireplace, the background of the spaceship can be seen behind the flames whilst there is no connection.

Visible crew/equipment: Everytime we see a close up of Mickey's grandmother's face, we can see the crew and camera reflected in her glasses.

Continuity: The Doctor phones Jackie just as she runs past a sign which says E6. However, she later looks at a sign which says E3. Figures refer to staircase numbers, not floor numbers.

Continuity: When Rose is giving the 5 year warning to Reinette, she's got a noticeable spot on her chin. When Reinette goes behind the tapestry and sees the ship, Rose's spot has suddenly vanished.

Other: In the scene after the Christmas tree has been destroyed in the flat the Doctor, Rose, Jackie and Mickey are standing outside, the robot Santa's do not have any gloves on showing human hands.

Continuity: When Ursula is filming Elton outside his old house, the digital camera produces a distorted picture and has four white lines in the corners. But, after Elton's flashback, Ursula is still filming but the picture is straight and the lines are gone.

Continuity: When the Doctor has strapped the bags of IV fluid to himself, the colour of the fluid in the bags strapped to his chest changes between shots.

Continuity: When Yvonne is taking the Doctor and Jackie to the Sphere Room, there is a sign opposite the door that has the words "Torchwood Institute". In the next shot where you can see the corridor from inside the Sphere Chamber, the sign has disappeared. It reappears again when Rose is going into the Sphere Chamber, but this time it has directions to the Reception, Canteen and Lever Room as well as "Torchwood Institute". It also disappears again when you see the corridor from inside the Chamber.

Continuity: While hiding behind the mini-skips, Rose and Pete hold hands. After a cut to close up, they hold hands again.

Plot hole: The Sycorax begin speaking English for all of the humans because the TARDIS is suddenly activated when the Doctor wakes up. However, it is stated elsewhere in the series that the TARDIS only translates for those who have been in the TARDIS, which Harriet and her translator haven't.
