Doctor Who (2005) - 28 mistakes in series 2

Audio problem: When the Doctor is proving his identity to Harriet Jones by telling her about when they were trapped together at Downing Street, his words don't match the movements of his jaw when we see him from behind - the timing's all off.

Plot hole: The Sycorax begin speaking English for all of the humans because the TARDIS is suddenly activated when the Doctor wakes up. However, it is stated elsewhere in the series that the TARDIS only translates for those who have been in the TARDIS, which Harriet and her translator haven't.

Continuity: 2005 Christmas special, the Christmas invasion : When the Unit soldiers aim at the controlled people, you can see that they have the same weapons as the guards on the game station in the year 2001.

Plot hole: Those people created for medical experiments cannot run. In fact they can barely walk, so how come they can climb nearly as fast as Rose? What's more, when you see them climbing, they seem to have little ability to coordinate hand over hand. Even with the delay brought on by the cat-woman-thing, they should not have been able to keep up with her.

Continuity: When the Doctor has strapped the bags of IV fluid to himself, the colour of the fluid in the bags strapped to his chest changes between shots.

Revealing: At the end when Sarah Jane is walking towards the Tardis and the Doctor opens the doors the inside of the Tardis is obviously a painting.

Continuity: When Mickey enters the School Computer Room, dozens of pupils are busy typing, and every one of them is also wearing headphones. However, once Mickey unplugs the main connection for the computers, and shouts "EVERYBODY GET OUT. NOW," no one is wearing headphones.

Factual error: Madame de Pompadour calls herself "Reinette" in 1727, whereas in actual fact, this was a nickname meaning "Little Queen" which was not given to her until 1730.

Continuity: When the Doctor is trying to fix the connection from the past to the future through the fireplace, the background of the spaceship can be seen behind the flames whilst there is no connection.

Continuity: When Madame de Pompadour is walking in the gardens with her friend, the Doctor ducks down behind a pillar so he will not be seen. He puts his hands on the pillar but in the next shot they are gone, then they are back again.

Factual error: When the Doctor enters Renette's room for the first time, he pulls back the curtain and looks out of the window. We see that it is heavily snowing on the famous French cathedral of Notre Dame. It is impossible to see Notre Dame from the windows of the chateau de Versailles, as Notre Dame is in the centre of Paris and Versailles is on the outskirts.

Visible crew/equipment: Everytime we see a close up of Mickey's grandmother's face, we can see the crew and camera reflected in her glasses.

Continuity: At the beginning of this episode Big Ben has a square face, yet at the end of the next episode it's a round face.

Continuity: When Rose is sitting on a bench and she gets a news report on her phone, look at the top of the phone screen - it says the time is 11:35. However, several minutes later, when the Doctor and Mickey find Rose, the clock says it's only 11:36.

Factual error: When Rose gets the message there are two things wrong with what you see on the phones screen: firstly on the top right of the screen you can see the icon for mute even though you heard the beep, and secondly that screen is for when you type in the number you want to call (text), not the screen for receiving a text.

Continuity: While hiding behind the mini-skips, Rose and Pete hold hands. After a cut to close up, they hold hands again.

Continuity: When The Cyber-man is hit by the electro magnetic bomb, it falls to its knees, then backwards. Yet in the next shot, it is flat on its back, with its leg extended.

Revealing: During the scene in which The Doctor is climbing the transmitter, there is a shot in which he is viewed from above and is then struck by lightning. In this shot, The Doctor's foot disappears briefly as it leaves the green screen on the ground under the actor.

Continuity: When The Doctor first gets on his scooter, we see Rose putting her helmet on before she gets on, but she doesn't do her chin strap up. When we next see her, on the bike, her strap is done up.

Factual error: Ida, the science officer, says that the planet is in geostationary orbit around the black hole. However, the word "geostationary" applies very specifically to objects orbiting the planet Earth. Since a black hole is a type of star, this planet's orbit could be described as astrostationary, or even just stationary, but definitely not as geostationary. A science expert on an interstellar mission wouldn't make this mistake, and she wasn't dumbing things down, either, since "geostationary orbit" is already a pretty obscure topic for people unfamiliar with space technology.
