Season: Whole show  1  2  3  All

Across whole show

Mistake Revealing: Across the whole show you see the interior of KITT as being futuristic and curved towards the driver. Also you notice the steering wheel isn't a circular wheel, but a futuristic 'half wheel' with handles. But when you see shoots from a distance you see stunt men driving the car, you can see a normal steering wheel and a normal dash.

Mistake Continuity: At the beginning of many shows it will show the car's instruments, panning from one to the other. The speedometer will show various speeds in that shot, but a close up of the gauge will then show 55 MPH.

Mistake Factual error: Realistically, there is no way someone can be thrown straight up from the driver's seat of a Pontiac Trans-Am, even with T-tops. Whoever was being shot straight up would probably break their legs on the crossbar that's adjacent to the windshield.

All of series 1 (season 1)

Mistake Continuity: Even after KITT's voice modulator changes to the three bars in the episode "Hearts of Stone," any shot of KITT starting himself up still shows the old voice modulator (a simple red square).

Mistake Revealing: In the first few episodes watch KITT's glowing square. In some scenes the flasher says KNIGHT 2000 and other times it does not.

Knight Rider [Pilot; a.k.a. Knight of the Phoenix] (1) (season 1, episode 1)

Mistake Revealing: When KITT takes part in the race and goes up on two wheels, you can see that the stunt driver is behind the wheel and that a dummy is strapped into the passenger's seat.

Mistake Continuity: If you look closely at KITT throughout the pilot, the position of his scanner lens changes from being the normal scanner that we're all used to, and the scanner being at the very tip of the front bumper. (The latter case is because the car was used for a promo shots to sell to NBC, and after the show was picked up, they changed KITT's look, but still used the earlier shots).

Mistake Revealing: There is a scene where KITT drives over to Michael, and you can see the drivers seat is really a guy dressed up in a light brown suit to look like a car seat. You can see for a visor that its a glass panel made to look like a hollow head rest, but you plainly see the guy take away his hand off the steering wheel.

Mistake Revealing: During the demolition derby, the shot of KITT releasing his smoke screen is flipped; you can see that the license plate is backwards.

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": Watch the scene when Michael fell asleep. At the end of the cop chase the cops get out. Watch the license plate California KNIGHT in yellow letters. The next scene reads Nevada MCC224 and has an original Trans Am rather than KITT's rear.

Knight Rider [Pilot; a.k.a. Knight of the Phoenix] (2) (season 1, episode 2)

Mistake Revealing: During the Comtron Demolition Derby after Buddy sprays oil, Michael asks him not to push another button. Buddy decides to push the next button for Smoke Screen. The license plate is mirrored THGINK (instead of KNIGHT) before the smoke blows.

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": During Comtron's Demolition Derby, Michael engages auto control. Michael controls the wheel during the ski mode stunt. When the car drops back on four wheels, Michael is driving with a regular steering wheel instead of KITT's steering wheel.

Mistake Revealing: After KITT has been taken by the crooks, KITT auto cruises. Watch the spin circle showoff in slow motion. KITT is spraying gasoline out of his side tank all over the road as he's spinning circles.

Mistake Continuity: As Michael realises how he will be stopped on the way to the airport, he pulls over. KITT's front lower bumper does not have its spotlights, it is just a plain bumper.

Mistake Continuity: After Michael gets shot and gets in his car to race to the airport, he calls Devon on the intercom. Before he gets into the car, he flinches and grasps his left side shoulder area where he was originally shot. When he talks to Devon, he's grasping his right shoulder. After he finishes talking and continuing the drive, he grasps the left one again.

Mistake Other: The crooks steal KITT. When KITT announces himself, the crooks slam on the brakes. When the car comes to a halt, the back seat cushion is thrown forward. When the crooks take off, the back seat looks as if it hasn't ever moved forward.

Deadly Maneuvers (season 1, episode 3)

Mistake Continuity: When Michael and K.I.T.T. go to rescue LT. Ladd off the firing range, the steering wheel isn't K.I.T.T.s usual steering wheel, it has metal bars coming out to the handgrips.

Mistake Factual error: The sign in front of the tank Lt. Ladd is trapped in reads "ORDINANCE TESTING FIELD, DANGER.", but an ordinance is a type of decree or law. They probably meant 'ordnance', which is another word for artillery.

Slammin' Sammy's Stunt Show Spectacular (season 1, episode 5)

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": Watch the end of the test run for Michael and KITT. Michael was using the KITT steering wheel, but then he gets out of the car and it switches to a performance steering wheel instead.

Just My Bill (season 1, episode 6)

Mistake Other: Just as Michael jumps over the roadblock, the whole front of K.I.T.T. flexes showing it's not a real Firebird but a mock up.

Not a Drop to Drink (season 1, episode 7)

Mistake Continuity: When Michael is evading the earth movers you can clearly see his left hand at the 12 o'clock position on a normal round steering wheel, rather than the aircraft-like yoke.

No Big Thing (season 1, episode 8)

Mistake Continuity: At the end when Michael is driving Devon in K.I.T.T, there is a truck behind Devon which isn't behind Michael, depending on who is talking in the shot.

Mistake Continuity: KITT tells Michael he is running low on gas. Before they changed to the view of his fuel gauge, it was on the 3rd bottom of the RPM indicator. When they change, it's put on the top just below the RPM indicator, and changes again to the 3rd bottom.

Trust Doesn't Rust (season 1, episode 9)

Mistake Continuity: Watch the scene where KARR engages in bank robberies. In one charge scene, KARR has the sticker job from Slammin' Sammy's episode, which it doesn't have at any other point.

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": Watch the head to head scene of KARR and KITT. Just as KARR veers off, watch in slow motion frame by frame. The KARR switches to a classic automobile before the dirt scraping and cliff fall.

Mistake Continuity: Watch KITT shoot KARR with the laser. When KITT hits the laser on KARR one of his headlight covers blows off but then returns.

Mistake Continuity: Michael fights for his life on KARR. He then jumps to safety on KITT and gets into the car and goes chasing after KARR. The next scene has Michael back on KARR fighting for his life.

Forget Me Not (season 1, episode 13)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When the blue pickup drives into the equestrian centre with the brown horsefloat on the back, you can see the shadows of the camera crew on the ground.

Mistake Revealing: When KITT is in the valet carpark, he pushes the cars in front of him forwards. It is very obvious they have attached rubber protectors to the bumpers to prevent damage. Also, when KITT is driving by himself 10 seconds later, you can see the stunt man's hands driving the car.

Mistake Continuity: When KITT drives off the edge of the cliff, the car changes from a pontiac to another standard car a number of times. When KITT lands, his flight trajectory was from approximately 10 feet, not 100 feet. He should have landed like a belly flop onto the sand, not a shallow dive.

Mistake Revealing: Watch the scene where Michael fights two guys for a purse. Michael calls KITT for help. When KITT jumps off a cliff, an old vehicle is the one that jumps off the cliff instead.

Hearts of Stone (season 1, episode 14)

Mistake Continuity: When KITT jumps into the empty factory to save Michael the ramp is set a foot higher than the floor, yet when they drive out the same hole, the ramp is level with the floor so it can be driven down.

Mistake Continuity: When KITT lands in the back of the pick-up truck near the end of the episode, the internal shot shows the girl starting to get out of the passenger's side. But in the next external shot, she is getting out of the driver's side.

Give Me Liberty... or Give Me Death (season 1, episode 15)

Mistake Revealing: When the van overturns at the end of the episode, you can easily see the padded roll bars used to protect the actors inside. These bars don't appear anywhere else in the episode.

The Topaz Connection (season 1, episode 16)

Mistake Factual error: A secret file is password-protected on a computer, requiring a six-digit numerical access code. KITT states that the possibilities "are virtually unlimited." In truth, if each digit can be 0 through 9 (numerical meaning no letters or symbols), the possibility is 1 in 10^6, or 1 in a million. A supercomputer like KITT should have no problem running each number systematically until a correct code is found.

Mistake Other: In an overhead shot of KITT speeding through the desert after Lauren's plane, you can see parts of KITT's hood wobbling against the wind. I seriously doubt a car made to be indestructible would have that happen.

A Nice, Indecent Little Town (season 1, episode 17)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Michael chases the counter fitter and KITT supposedly jumps over some cars with his turbo boost, you can see a jumping ramp which wasn't there before, painted in the colour of the street behind it.

Knight Moves (season 1, episode 20)

Mistake Revealing: in the scene where two truckers try to smash up KITT with baseball bats, and KITT supposedly moves a bit backwards by himself, you can see someone 'helping' him near the passenger's seat.

Brother's Keeper (season 2, episode 3)

Mistake Plot hole: At the end of the episode, KITT has to travel about 45 miles in under 8 minutes. That means KITT would have to travel a little under 360 mph for the entire time. KITT couldn't travel that fast until season 4 when he got Super Pursuit Mode, and we never see the speedometer read that high even once.

Mistake Other: At the beginning of the episode, KITT prepares to back out of the semi. As the door is lowered, we see KITT's back-up lights on as though he's in reverse. But in the next shot, KITT starts his engine. It's impossible for back-up lights to be on when a car's engine is off.

Blind Spot (season 2, episode 5)

Mistake Continuity: After the KITT and Porsche chase scene, the police officer on the motorcycle comes to a stop in the dead-center of an intersection. But in the next shot when he looks around, he is barely inching into the intersection.

Knightmares (season 2, episode 11)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Michael and KITT are going to jump at the dam in order to save Cara from drowning in the water container just before they jump you can see a stunt ramp below KITT.

A Knight in Shining Armor (season 2, episode 13)

Mistake Revealing: When Michael fights the bad guy at the end of the episode, it's easy to tell that they're both stunt doubles.

Big Iron (season 2, episode 24)

Mistake Revealing: The shot of KITT releasing his oil slick at the end of the episode is backwards: "KNIGHT" appears as though it's in a mirror.

Mistake Continuity: When Michael finds the stolen moving equipment, he parks KITT and then starts to climb down an embankment. The close-up shot of KITT's scanner reveals a tree in the hood's reflection. But when we saw KITT stop, there wasn't a single tree around.

Mistake Continuity: When KITT is pushed over the mountain by the earthmover, you can see the front bumper is actually a stock Trans-Am bumper instead of KITT's normal one.

Knight of the Drones (1) (season 3, episode 1)

Mistake Other: When Dr. Hallsten fires the rocket from behind the grill of the car, he uses the red plastic switch cover to launch it, not the actual switch.

Knight Strike (season 3, episode 21)

Mistake Revealing: Just after Michael is about to be rammed by the two Land Rovers, he jumps onto K.I.T.T. and gets inside. The film must have been reversed as he is sitting on the right-hand side, but when it cuts he is then shown to be sitting on the left-hand side.
