Dr. Foreman: You figure that anybody that gives a crap about people in Africa must be full of it?
House: Yes. There's an evolutionary imperative why we give a crap about our family and friends. And there's an evolutionary imperative why we don't give a crap about anybody else. If we loved all people indiscriminately, we couldn't function.
Dr. Foreman: Hmmm. So, the great humanitarian's as selfish as the rest of us.
House: Just not as honest about it.
Trivia
The diagnosis of Lupus appears to be a running joke throughout the series - it is commonly suggested as a possible illness, but is always dismissed. In one episode, House hides his Vicodin in a book on Lupus, stating that 'it is never Lupus'. In another episode House has a janitor stand in for his three assistants (who left at the end of season 3). The janitor suggests Lupus as a possible diagnosis - inevitably he is wrong. See more...

Deliberate "mistake": When a patient who is given CPR is seen in the shot, the person giving the CPR does so with bent arms (the correct way to do it is with straight arms). This is deliberate, as straight-arm CPR puts in an amount of strength that frequently breaks ribs. Many films do CPR with bent arms rather than straight to avoid harming the actor.
Factual error: House is playing 'Metroid: Zero Mission' on his Gameboy at various times. The Metroid series does not feature space monkeys, nor are there distinct levels. The sounds coming from the game in the show do not match it in real life, and Samus morphing into a ball is most definitely not a failure state.
Revealing: Exactly ten minutes to the end, the couple with the baby Maxine are waiting to hear how she is doing. The mom and the husband are sitting on a bench outside the room in which their daughter is being treated. The mom lies down on her husband. She is supposed to have given birth only recently, so she still has a big tummy. As she lies against her husband, however, it is clear that she is wearing a prosthetic stomach: her blue T-shirt tucks and crinkles into and around it in a way that shows it is not an organic part of her.
Continuity: During the scene where Dr. Chase and Dr. Cameron are out having a drink, Cameron picks up Dr. Foreman's cell phone. Before she does she takes a drink of her soda. This drink drops the level of drink to half full. When Foreman returns a few seconds later she suddenly has a glass that is 3/4 full. There was no time for anyone to give her a refill.
