Factual error: Season 7 Episode 2 - Unfriendly Chat. In the shot where Mac discovers Adam's details on the killer's desk, under Adam's name is what is supposed to be Adam's computer IP address. Although the first two octets 172.16 are a plausible address, within a private address range, the third octet is a little too high at 450 (the largest number in an octet is 255) and the fourth octet at over 1000, well.

Factual error: Episode 7x11, "To What End?": During their investigation, the CSIs learn that their murder suspect is in the witness protection program, under FBI protection. WITSEC falls under the jurisdiction of the United States Marshals Service, not the FBI. And considering how many protected witnesses the Marshals Service relocates each year, it's doubtful they would be shorthanded enough to need help from another agency to locate a missing witness.

Factual error: Whenever someone uses an iPhone (which is the phone of choice on CSI:NY), the screen stays lit when talking on the phone. The iPhone has a sensor which dims the screen when you put it to your ear, but only if you're actually making a call.

Continuity: Episode 720 - "Nothing For Something". Around time 9:30 & then 10:30: In the coffee shop, Don & Mac are having breakfast; Raymond arrives, looks down at Mac's belt & sees his gun & badge beside each other on his right hip. A minute later, after Raymond leaves, Mac exits the coffee shop looking for Raymond; his badge has jumped to the opposite side of his belt.

Plot hole: At the end of the episode, Stella and the others determine their rape suspect is guilty because they confirm the tree sap on his clothes transferred to the victim's underwear. That transfer should have been discovered, if not blatantly obvious, during their initial processing of evidence.

Continuity: Stella prints the pictures of 6 suspects. Mac takes them all, holds one up and says : "That's the man we're looking for." But only 5 pictures comes out of the printer - and the picture of the suspect isn't among them. Mac holds up the picture of an black guy with afro hairdo - the suspect is white with rumpled black hair. Where does his picture come from ?

Continuity: In autopsy, Mac, Stella and Dr. Hawkes M.E. are examining a skeleton that was found on a bus. Continuity: At the beginning of the episode when Mac & Stella first look in the box at the beach, Lucas' head is at the back right corner of the box with a leg wedged from the back left to the back right corner and the back quite uppermost. When they open the box in the lab and go to remove it with the doctor, the head is in the front right corner with arms and legs visible uppermost like the body has been rotated, but it would not have been touched or removed from the box by that point. The second arrangement of the body is shown in the flashbacks throughout the episode.

The Fall (season 1, episode 17)

Plot hole: The CSIs catch a murder suspect putting down a drink can when reviewing security footage of a robbery, and immediately realise they didn't see it at the scene so assume one of the first cops on the scene must have removed it. Thing is though, the murderers shot out the security camera before the actual shooting occurred, meaning there was loads of time off-camera for the killers to take the can with them, but the CSIs never even consider this - they jump to the conclusion a cop took it even though there's no actual evidence for that.
