Little House on the Prairie

Times Are Changing (1) - S9-E1

Character mistake: Almanzo says he hasn't seen his brother Royal in 10 years, but in fact he saw him not long ago as he looked after his 2 sons who were terrors, and at that time Royal didn't even have a daughter.

Suggested correction: Royal's wife was pregnant when he visited years before Laura had the baby.

What happened to Pearly Day? Almonzo's younger brother?

Not sure if this varied in the show, but in real life Pearly Day had six children and died in 1934 just a month prior to his 65th birthday.

Almanzo had 2 brothers. Royal and Jenny's dad, the one that was dying.

That may not work, unless Laura and Almonzo were not married yet at the time of Royal's first visit, but it is a good suggestion.

In the TV series, the episode that they were taking care of the boys was only six episodes before Laura found out she was pregnant, and Nellie's babies were still babies throughout that time so it wasn't that long. And Rose wasn't that big When they came to visit, so it was probably only 1 1/2-2 years of a time gap. Also, when Royal and Jenny came to visit, Almanzo introduced Royal to Laura as if they had never met before.

It was NOT years! Royal, his wife and 2 sons visited Almanzo in Season 7. His wife did announce she was pregnant in the end. However, when Royal comes back to visit with Jenny, at the beginning of Season 9. If Jenny is supposed to be the baby Royal's wife was pregnant with then she would have still been a year old or 2 at most. They do explain that his wife died, but what about those boys? They would have been early teens by then. Nothing is ever said about them or why they aren't with Royal.

But Laura says "glad to finally meet you Royal", when he came with Jenny. But she met him when he came with the boys.

A Wiser Heart - S8-E5

Factual error: Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in 1867. Ralph Waldo Emerson died in 1882, which means she was at the maximum 15-16 years old (and already married) in order to meet him IF he were to appear in 1882 which is not possible because: The problems with his memory had become embarrassing to Emerson, and he ceased his public appearances by 1879 (according to wikipedia).

Meet Me At The Fair - S4-E11

Factual error: When the hot air balloon comes down with Carrie in it you can see N410AA printed on it. This is commonly called a tail number on planes and is issued through the FAA, which of course did not exist during the time period of the episode.

Suggested correction: Wasn't Mary the one in the balloon?

Mary was in the balloon earlier in the episode with the man who runs it but near the end, Carrie wondered off into it and it took off with her inside ALONE.

Home Again - S9-E16

Character mistake: Mrs. Oleson, talking to Willie, tells "Albert" to go clean up his room while Mr. and Mrs. Oleson, Willie, and Albert are talking in the Mercantile. (00:39:20)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Mrs. Oleson isn't calling her son 'Albert'. She is talking to Albert as he's leaving the store and says "Well, it's nice to have you back, Albert" then she turns and looks at Willie and tells him to clean up his room. There is a slight pause between "it's nice to have you back" and "Albert" but she is not looking at Willie when she says Albert's name.

The Runaway Caboose - S2-E16

Factual error: As the train is going backwards from the oncoming caboose, the camera pans to the field background and if you watch from right to left, you'll see a white vehicle driving in the background. (00:42:20)

A Child With No Name - S9-E17

Factual error: This episode was mentioned by Laura at the beginning as taking place in December 1889. Rose was born in December 1886, so she should be 3 years old now, but she is shown through the episode appearing only to be roughly 6 to 12 months old and still in a crib.

Wave of the Future - S8-E10

Continuity mistake: The restaurant has "Caroline's" painted on the windows (except while operating as Mrs. Sullivan's). However, near the start of the episode, when the horses trot by in a nighttime exterior shot of the restaurant, the window still reads "Nellie's" (taken from earlier in the series). This same mistake has been seen in at least one other episode of season 8 as well.

Show generally

Factual error: In the remastered DVD editions, on Doc Baker's wagon, you can see that the canvas wagon cover has a plastic window sewn into it.

The Third Miracle - S6-E4

Other mistake: After the stagecoach crashes and Mary discovers that neither Marge nor Adam can move, she tells Adam that she's going to leave the canteen for him and Marge. Neither one can move. Neither one is going to get the canteen to the other.

Ellexx

The Talking Machine - S2-E13

Continuity mistake: When Jason and Laura are flying the kite in one scene, there is heavy rain, thunder, and lightning and dark storm clouds shown in the sky, but on the ground showing the kids, the sun is shining on them (note the shadows).

The Music Box - S3-E19

Revealing mistake: When Anna (little girl who stutters) is crying after being teased, the "tears" on her cheek are obviously fake. They never run or move. I'm guessing rubber cement.

I Remember, I Remember - S4-E16

Continuity mistake: Charles is delayed getting home on his wedding anniversary because a wheel on his wagon broke, he had no jack and he had to make repairs during a heavy rainstorm. Rain is still falling late at night and can be seen through the window when Caroline hears Charles arriving. She runs outside to greet him and suddenly there is no rain.

Journey In The Spring (1) - S3-E6

Revealing mistake: When Charles notices that his dad set the house on fire, and he is at his mom's wooden grave site, the wooden grave marker moves when he gets up to save his Pa from the burning house.

Show generally

Continuity mistake: Grace Snider Edwards was played by two different people with no explanation. Bonnie Bartlett played her all along, but Corinne Camacho played her for one episode only.

Whisper Country - S4-E15

Deliberate mistake: When Mary gets to the school where she is going to be teaching, all the children are standing outside wearing shoes. However when they come in to the school they are barefoot. I have a feeling this was done to show how poor the community she was teaching in was supposed to be, but it looked like too cold and rainy of a day to let the actors be outside barefoot.

Gold Country - S3-E21

Continuity mistake: When Edwards is first discovered missing by Grace, the moon is in the background in the center of the screen. After all the time that goes by with Edwards in the casino, Charles looking for him, finds him and goes all the way back to where they were sleeping (figure at least an hour or more), the moon is still in the exact same position in center of screen from the exact same camera angle. In reality, the moon would have been more to the right or disappeared completely by now (depending on the timespan).

Someone Please Love Me - S5-E22

Continuity mistake: Charles walks down the staircase with a small trunk, suitcase, and a duffel bag. He finishes business from the man he bought the horses. When he walks out onto the porch, Charles is only carrying his duffel bag, and tosses it into his wagon. No other luggage is visible.

Albert Quinn Ingalls: Ma, please don't tell me I'm too young to know how I feel.
Caroline: I wasn't going to tell you that, and don't ever raise your voice to me while you live in this house.
