Mr. Monk Is Underwater - S7-E5

Factual error: Commander Whitaker tries to drown Monk and Natalie by trapping them in the ballast tank of the submarine. The ballast tanks on a submarine are inaccessible from the interior, and wouldn't have dramatic lighting in them either.

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: In the hardware store, a bright blue sign in the background reads "Electrical" in reverse. When Jake hands Monk his card a few shots later, the camera angle hasn't changed, but the sign has turned around and now reads "Electrical" forwards. (00:15:00)

Mr. Monk Is Underwater - S7-E5

Factual error: Monk borrows Lt. Albright's sidearm to prove a point. All weapons on a submarine are locked in a small arms locker until needed, not carried around by officers. Further, medics are traditionally not issued firearms.

Grumpy Scot

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: This mistake occurs when Monk and Natalie are sitting on the stairs watching the two men wrecking the walls. Close up shots show Natalie sitting with her legs crossed while the long shot shows her legs bent at the knee side by side.

Mr. Monk Buys A House - S7-E1

Revealing mistake: When Cassie Drake pushes Joseph Moody down the stairs, it is very obvious that the man falling down the stairs is not Jack Carter. His hair is not even close to the same color.

Mr. Monk's 100th Case - S7-E7

Continuity mistake: At the end, when he is talking to Natalie about quitting since he has solved an even number of crimes, Monk is peeling an orange. The peeling that he is letting dangle from the orange changes from above the counter to touching the counter and back to above the the counter, depending on the shot.

Mr. Monk and the Bully - S7-E14

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie are arguing at Monk's apartment, Natalie is wearing a ponytail. However, when the scene cuts to them standing in Fendle's hotel room, Natalie's ponytail is gone, and does not reappear for the rest of the episode. It's the same day, however, since she's still wearing the same dark black coat in both scenes. The most likely explanation is that the scene in Monk's apartment was filmed concurrently with Natalie's scenes in "Mr. Monk Makes the Playoffs" - the black-collared shirt Natalie is wearing in the second half of the episode appears to be the same one she wears in the previous episode, where her hair is in a ponytail for most of her scenes. Mr. Monk and the Bully - S7-E14

Continuity mistake: When Monk and the others are in the hotel room where the victim has been discovered, Monk puts a flower onto his suit. Natalie then takes it off the suit, but in the next shot (as he turns around) the flower is still on him.

Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico - S2-E2

Trivia: According to co-producer Tom Scharpling, the Mexican homicide cops are purposely written as parodies of Stottlemeyer and Disher, right down to their attitudes, their ranks, their suits, and Captain Alameda's mustache. Even the bumbling lieutenant's name is a little joke on Disher. Plato means "dish" in Spanish.

Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike - S5-E2

Question: Why would it have been political suicide if it was discovered that Mayor Nicholson was secretly meeting with Cusack to end the garbage strike? If anything, if the people found out that they were meeting to find a way to end the garbage strike, wouldn't that have made everybody happy considering how much garbage was piling up all over the city?

Answer: The two men are trying to work out a secret deal between them without involving the union, which means the workers' interests aren't being represented and defeats the whole purpose of a union. The mayor would lose labor's support and Cusack's union troubles would just be starting.
