Show generally

Factual error: Aphrodite's son and Psyche's husband is Eros, not Cupid. Venus's son is Cupid. (Eros is Greek and Cupid is Roman).

Show generally

Other mistake: Across the show Xena's past relationship with Ares is unclear. In "The Reckoning" (Season 1), Xena says to Ares that she used to wonder what he looked like - implying that they had never met face to face. Yet in "Succession" (Season 5), Xena asks Ares if this portal world is just to watch his new girlfriend fight and he responds, saying it is to watch his old girlfriend (Xena) fight. If they had been in a relationship, surely a: Xena and Ares would have met face to face and therefore b: Xena would know what Ares looked like.

Continuity mistake: In the episode 'The Xena Scrolls,' the chakram that is buried in Ares' tomb is the chakram from the first four seasons. However, as the chakram is neutralised in the episode 'Chakram' and is given back to the cloned Xena in the episode 'The Clones', how could the chakram be neutralised before Xena dies, be separated in the 1940s when they discover the Chakram in Ares' tomb and then be neutralised in the episode with the clones?

Other mistake: Xena travels to the land of the Norse gods in 'The Rhinegold', 'The Ring', 'The Return of the Valkyrie.' Brunhilda says that Xena came from a distant land in the east, meaning that she travelled from Chin or Japa (most likely), not Greece. When would she have done this, and why is Borias not with her, etc.?

Other mistake: If Lyceus is killed 11 years ago (the second year Xena and Gabrielle travel together - 2x02) and Solan is born roughly 8 years ago (the same night Borias is killed), then in about two years, Lyceus is killed, Xena gets an army, Caesar betrays Xena, Xena meets Borias (and gets him to leave his son), they go to Chin and meet Lao Ma, Xena gets pregnant and meets the Amazons/Alti, Borias dies and Solan is born. No way does this all fit into a few years. And what happened after Solan was born?

The Reckoning - S1-E6

Factual error: The error begins in this episode and continues in Season 1 Episode 12: "Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts." Near the end of The Reckoning, Xena and Ares are talking about making Xena "the architect of a new world". Xena says that she'll need an army. Ares tells her she can have anyone she wants. She mentions Achilles and Agamemnon in her list of warriors and then follows up by saying "they're long gone." In "Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts," the Trojan War is going on. This is historically inaccurate as Achilles was killed in the Trojan War and Agamemnon was the leader of the Greek forces in the Trojan War and wasn't killed until after it was over. Hooves & Harlots - S1-E10

Revealing mistake: When Xena is fighting Celano, right after he grabs his knife to try and kill her, the shot changes to Xena, who after dropping back to the ground is supposed to be unsheathing her sword, but actually has it out already and just pretends to. (00:39:00)

Mortal Beloved - S1-E16

Revealing mistake: When Marcus is hanging off a wall in Hell and under attack from a harpy, there's a shot of Xena jumping on said wall to help him. When she lands, you can see the pavement give in a little, like it's made of rubber instead of stone. (00:35:45)

The Greater Good - S1-E21

Revealing mistake: When Gabrielle is hitting her staff against the tree and screaming, if you look carefully for the last hit, the staff is bent. Most of their props were rubber with a metal rod inside them. The actress bent the metal rod because she was hitting so hard.

Callisto - S1-E22

Continuity mistake: When Xena starts chasing down Callisto after the attempt on the Oracle's life she has her sword in the sheath on her back, as can be plainly seen when she jumps on Argo. A couple of seconds later, there are a few shots of her charging after Callisto without her sword, which comes back in the sheath once the chase gets in open field. (00:23:00)
