Lizzie McGuire (2001) - 97 mistakes in entire show

Continuity: When Lizzie attempts to confess to Kate in the hallway she is wearing a red and white shirt with no bag. However in one shot from behind, you can see that there is a blue bag strap over her left shoulder. This is the same blue bag she can be seen wearing in later scenes.

Visible crew/equipment: When Lizzie enters the gymnasium to confrontate Kate about what she sent via the instant message, as she stops in front of Kate you can see the nice, big red tape mark at her feet.

Plot hole: When Lizzie and Gordo are sitting at lunch, Gordo says that he doesn't like broccoli (refering to the pile on his plate) and that he tries to avoid it. However it is established in many scenes that Lizzie's school has a self serve cafeteria, so why does he have broccoli?

Revealing: When Kate opens her locker, a mountain of toilet paper falls out of her locker due to a prank played by Miranda. However if you look closely you can see the hand of a crewmember pushing the mountain of toilet paper out of the locker.

Continuity: When Lizzie and Gordo are sitting at lunch, Gordo is sitting there playing with his fork. But then when Miranda comes over to sit down with them, Gordo now has his arm down on the table and is no longer playing with his fork.

Visible crew/equipment: After the McGuire's dig back up Lizzie the lizard; as they walk across the garden (with Mrs. McGuire telling Matt that he should open the box) if you look from the point where they began to walk from, you can see a white tape marker on the ground.

Continuity: When Mrs. McGuire checks Matt's temperature she takes the thermometer out of his mouth and leaves the room on the phone. But in the next shot we see Matt, only now he has the thermometer and is using a flashlight in order to heat it up.

Continuity: Miranda wears an outfit for picture day accompanied with two little fluffy hair-balls in the left side of her hair. However when Miranda spots Kate wearing the same outfit as her, you can tell the shot is flipped because the hair-balls have swapped sides.

Continuity: When Matt is faking being ill to get out of school, Mrs. McGuire discovers he is not really ill. At one point through the day she suggests to Matt that they spin some yarn and she picks up a basket full of it. Yet in the next shot the position of the balls of yarn in the basket has completely changed.

Continuity: When Mrs. McGuire pulls out the huge netted bag full of toilet rolls that she has packed for the camping trip, Lizzie puts her right hand over the right side of her face in embarrasment. But in the next shot she has both her hands over her mouth.

Visible crew/equipment: When Kate is teasing Lizzie in the cafeteria as they wait for Mr. Pettus, reflector screens can be seen in Kate's sunglasses.

Revealing: When the school bus is shown cruising around the corner on the way to the camping area, you can see that as it turns the corner is is virtually empty.

Continuity: During the scene in the kitchen when Lizzie is talking about the pool party and discovers it's her grandmothers birthday, throughout the whole scene, her necklace continually disappears and reappears between shots.

Continuity: When Lizzie is in her room sorting out clothes, her Mum comes in and informs her that she can now go to the party. During the scene that follows with Lizzie and her Mum talking on the bed, Lizzie's necklace continues to hop in and out of her tee-shirt between shots.

Continuity: When Lizzie is at her locker, she is looking at the wishbead necklace that she and Miranda had made. The necklace is hanging from a peg inside the locker. She then spots Miranda with Kate and then closes the locker door, only now the necklace is missing from the peg.

Continuity: When the camera pans to an overhead shot of Lizzie lying on her bed, sulking about not being able to go to the party, look at the books opened on her bed. In the close up of her, when her Dad knocks at her door, the pages that the books were open at have now changed, as well as the books positions, and the way Lizzie has her arms folded as well.

Continuity: When Mrs. McGuire walks over to check the calendar to see if the day of Lizzie's party is free, there is a green highlighter hanging under the picture of their Grandmother. Yet in the close up of the picture, the highlighter is missing, then back again. Also, the sheets surrounding the photo move positions.

Audio problem: When Lizzie goes into the living room while her Mum is on the phone, she takes the remote control from Matt. We can then hear Matt shouting tales at Mrs. McGuire, but if you watch him his mouth isn't moving at all.

Continuity: During the pool party discussion in the kitchen, Mrs. McGuire places the salt shaker down next to the pepper shaker. Yet in the next shot she is placing the shaker down once again, and the other shaker has now vanished.

Visible crew/equipment: During the scene in the kitchen when the family is discussing Lizzie going to the pool party, in a close up of Mrs. McGuire there are lighting screens reflected in her glasses.

Continuity: When Mrs. McGuire is on the phone talking about lying, Lizzie begins to argue that if she can lie, why can't she. In one shot Mrs. McGuire puts the phone down to her shoulder to cover the earpiece but in the next shot (from behind) she has the phone back up to her ear again.

Continuity: When Kate is walking down the hallway towards Miranda and Lizzie, her bag strap lies perfectly diagonal against her chest. Yet in the next shot it hangs more vertically, at her side, then back to diagonally.

Revealing: During Lizzie's rhythmic gymnastic routine, in some shots where she is performing flips and other complicated dancing moves, you can quite clearly see that a stunt double is doing them instead.

Visible crew/equipment: When Lizzie is talking about her gymnastic talent in the kitchen, Matt tells Lizzie that he has six talents. He then begins to list them. As he does, you can see the boom microphone dip down in the screen, directly above him.

Audio problem: When Coach Kelly asks Lizzie to stay behind in the locker rooms to talk, she begins to say "In all my years of teaching...", however in the shot you can clearly see that her mouth is mismatched to this line and is saying something different.

Continuity: During gym class, Miranda is asked to demonstrate her rhythmic gymnastic skills, which ends up in her accidentally tossing them halfway across the field. When she returns next to Lizzie, she has one baton, then two, then one again, between shots.

Continuity: Kate's surname keeps changing from being Sanders to Saunders throughout the earlier episodes. In this episode, near the end Lizzie pronounces her name "Saunders" yet it is spelled Sanders in the credits.

Continuity: When Matt comes downstairs in 'street clothes' and his Mum begins to complain, Lizzie puts her backpack on her bag, which is hanging open unzipped. However during the scene, between shots, the bag suddenly does itself up without assistance.

Continuity: When Matt askes his dad to pass the basket of garlic bread over, as Matt puts the basket down on the table, the end slice of bread falls out of the basket. But in the next shot the whole loaf is inside again. Also the position of the basket changes.

Continuity: After Gordo's science project model brain explodes, it sprays "brain goo" everywhere. The continuity of the amount of goo on everyone, and the position of the goops of it on them, continues to changes through the scenes. Eg., Lizzie's face gets completely covered yet when she goes out into the school hallway, her face is almost clean.

Continuity: After the aptitude test, when Gordo, Lizzie and Miranda exit the classroom and walk down the hallway talking, as they progress, the binder and book that Miranda's holding keep on switching positions between shots, and they also change from showing their front/back alternatively.

Continuity: When Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda sit in class as receive their aptitude tests, we see Miranda's hand under the desk, holding a pencil. Then she informs the others that she feels gum under the desk, only her hand is now empty. She then has a pencil in it once again in the next shot.

Continuity: When Lizzie is drawing her science poster about the brain, she is using a large felt marker which runs out after she has written "Br..." She the proceeds to try and write an "a" but the pen is dry, however some marks do come out of the pen. However in the next shot the marks are gone, and the area where she tried to write the "a" looks untouched.

Continuity: When Lizzie is sitting at the table drawing her science project poster about the brain, in the first wide shot, you can see that there is a yellow felt tip lying on the poster. Then in a close up of Lizzie writing, the pen has moved completely. In the wide shots it is back to its original place.

Continuity: When Lizzie, Gordo, Miranda and Matt are sitting outside the studio and Matt tells them his Plan B, as Gordo says "Elf costumes? That's plan B?", the black bag strap over his left shoulder jumps from being under his collar to over his collar instantly between shots.

Continuity: When Mrs. McGuire pulls up to the studio lot and the security guard leans down to the car window to talk to her, he is holding two red candy twists in his hands. With every shot change the position of his hands and which hands he holds the twists in changes.

Continuity: When Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo are hiding in the big red sack on the Santa sleigh, after Lizzie pokes her head out she ducks back into the bag and says "Aaron Carter's here!" As the shot changes, the Christmas presents that surround them in the bag rearrange themselves instantly.

Audio problem: As Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo sneak across the studio lot, Gordo stops and says to two ladies "Excuse me, if you guys ever need a professional video director...", but it is a very clear dub, as his mouth is not in sync.

Continuity: When Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo are in Aaron Carter's dressing room, when they realise that it is actually his dressing room, Lizzie places her tape recorder on the glass table quite near the edge. But in the next shot it is now halfway hanging off the edge.

Continuity: When Matt is shown eating a popsicle really fastly, he finishes and shows his nice clean popsicle stick, and his mouth is relatively clean. Yet a few shots later his mouth is covered in purple mess.

Visible crew/equipment: When Miranda puts on some music, and Gordo walks over beside her saying how "raccoons wouldn't want to stay for her singing", as he stops, you can see his and Miranda's tape markers.

Revealing: During the opening shot, as Lizzie and Miranda are walking along in the lunch queue as they are talking, Miranda looks directly at the camera and smiles as if she had expected the shot to be over. As soon as she realises it isn't, she turns away.

Revealing: When Mr. McGuire is trying to get back into the house to check on how Lizzie is doing babysitting, the lock chain is on the door, so he grabs a saw to cut through it. He begins to saw it - however he forgot to take the yellow cover off of the metal blade.

Continuity: At the beginning of the episode when Lizzie and Miranda are sitting at the cafeteria table talking about the election candidates, their arms continue to change position from being on / off the table between shots.

Continuity: When Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo are in the Digital Bean, Gordo brings Lizzie a bottle of apple juice over. Then during the scene in wide shots the bottle is not visible (although it could be on the part of table not visible) - yet at the end of the scene, between shots, the bottle suddenly appears right in the middle of the table.

Continuity: When Lizzie is sitting in the Digital Bean on her own with a bowl of ice cream, Miranda and Gordo come in and they talk. By the end of the conversation, before they leave, between shots the spoon and napkin on the table beside Lizzie change their positions.

Continuity: When Larry sits with Kate at the outdoor cafeteria, the bottle of water in front of Kate keeps appearing and disappearing.

Continuity: The pen in Gordo's hand vanishes instantly between shots when the teacher announces he is married to Lizzie for the class project.

Continuity: After Kate and Larry have taken their slips of paper from the fishbowl and sit down, Lizzie and Gordo go up next to take their slips. When they get up you can now see that all the slips of paper in the fishbowl are differently arranged.

Continuity: When Lizzie and Miranda are sitting with Gordo in the park with the aeroplane freaks, as one of the planes goes speeding past them on the floor, in the shot from behind Lizzie picks her handbag up from out of the way. But in the next shot her handbag is back where it was on the floor.

Continuity: Lizzie and Miranda enter the park area to find Gordo. As they walk in, between shots Lizzie's purple scarf keeps on moving back and forth from hanging down normally to resting on her shoulder.

Continuity: When Lizzie enters Gordo's bedroom, her turquoise earrings that match her outfit are missing. Then they are back on suddenly, as Gordo begins to talk to her about his new hobby in world war planes. Then halfway during their conversation, her earrings vanish again.

Continuity: In the opening scene, as Miranda and Lizzie walk over to Gordo, who is sitting on the table in ratpack clothes, Lizzie goes to sit down. But in the next shot her and Miranda are both standing again and Lizzie then sits down once again.

Continuity: When Miranda storms out of the cafeteria and Lizzie calls her a stinkbag actress, Gordo is sitting down with a plate of food. In the wide shot he has the spoon lowered down but in the close up it is held up right by his mouth.

Audio problem: Near the end of the episode, when Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda are walking down the street, Lizzie begins to say how she could concentrate on helping stray dogs. However in one shot of Miranda, while we still hear Lizzie talking, Lizzie can be seen in the shot with her mouth closed and smiling.

Continuity: After Lizzie has been sent home from school for some sleep, as her mum and dad walk her over to the couch, Lizzie is not wearing a bag. But as they all sit down, now Lizzie has her small bag hanging over her left shoulder.

Continuity: When Matt handcuffs himself to Lizzie and they become stuck, Matt is wearing his magician's hat and cape. Then when they begin to look for the key the cape and hat are no longer on him, but then a few shots later he is wearing them again.

Visible crew/equipment: As Matt is annoying Lizzie with the magic trick involving the golden 'floating' ball, huge set lights and equipment are reflected in the balls shiny surface.

Revealing: When Kate opens the can of nuts that Matt gives her, when the joke snakes spring out of it she falls into the pond behind her. You can clearly see that it is a double taking the stunt - and the stuntwoman's wig is awful.

Continuity: When Matt is trying to entertain Lizzie with magic tricks at the beginning, he picks up a black cloth from the table. In the next shot it is back on the table and then back in his hands in the next.

Revealing: When Miranda hands Lizzie the drink as she stands next to the photo booth, you can clearly see and hear that the cup is empty, as you can hear ice rattle at the bottom; yet Lizzie sips as if there is liquid in it.

Factual error: During the montage of Lizzie and Matt at the charity drive golf tournament, there is one part where Lizzie is standing outside the Men's toilet as Matt uses it. However they are handcuffed together with cuffs that have a chain which is about an inch long, so there is no way Matt could use the toilet with Lizzie standing outside the door.

Continuity: When Lizzie runs over to help the choking man by giving him the Heimlich maneuver, in wideshots the bag she had on her left shoulder has disappeared. But in closeups the bag is on her shoulder again.

Continuity: As the guy is choking on a gumball in the cinema, Lizzie runs over to help him (by giving him the Heimlich maneuver.) The guy has three red sweet (candy) laces hanging around his shoulder; and the amount keeps changing from shot to shot. In one shot one falls off, then it is back on, then two fall off - but in the final shot of the gumball being spit out of his mouth, all three laces are around his neck again.

Continuity: When Miranda, Lizzie and Gordo are talking in the cinema lobby after they realize that they're going to be on TV and that they will get caught for sneaking to the cinema, from shot to shot Miranda's bag straps keep altering from sitting on top of each other, to each strap being apart on her shoulder.

Continuity: When Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo sit down in class and begin to take their equipment out, Lizzie unzips her blue bag and takes a black case out of it - twice between shots.

Continuity: When the guy is choking on a gumball in the cinema, in one shot he slaps his friends bucket of popcorn out of his hand to the floor. Then in the next shot the popcorn bucket has reappeared in the friends hand.

Continuity: When Jo and Sam McGuire are talking about Lizzie, after Jo received the phonecall from the cinema, in frontal shots of Sam he holds a spanner down on the table, but in shots from behind you can barely see that he is actually holding the spanner by his face; this repeats a few times. Also during the conversation Sam leans his head to the right as he says Lizzie is a "lying hero", yet in the next shot his head is suddenly upright.

Continuity: When the guy begins to choke on a gumball, him and his friend begin to playfully hit each other as they panic. In one shot the friend (who is wearing a blue hat) is hit and his hat almost falls backwards off his head. Then in the next shot the hat is back on his head firmly.

Continuity: When Matt and Lanny enter the kitchen area with handfuls of items (just after Mrs. McGuire found Matt's gambling book) in one shot Lanny puts down his handful of items on the table they are standing in front of. But two shots later all the items are back in his hands and he puts it all down again before running away.

Continuity: When Lizzie's Mum brings over her brown paper bagged lunch to her at breakfast, she places it on the counter beside her. In the next shot it has gone and the reappears in the next shot.

Character mistake: When Matt is telling his Dad about his problems, he says "...I kicked our social studies globe last week by accent." He should have said accident; although this is not a major error it is worth noting and looking out for.

Revealing: At the start of the episode when Miranda and Lizzie buy drinks (before spotting Gordo with Brooke) the cups are clearly empty.

Continuity: When Gordo is talking to Lizzie and Miranda and then walks off (and Lizzie then says "I think he just broke up with us") the position of the blue handled fork on Lizzie's plate keeps changing.

Continuity: When Lizzie and Miranda walk over to the table which Gordo is standing on top of (as he sells his pudding cup) in one shot Miranda puts her lunch tray on the table and her hands are empty in the next shot. But in the following shot the tray is suddenly in her hands again.

Visible crew/equipment: When Lizzie and Miranda enter the Digital Bean you can clearly see the shadow of the boom mike to the right of the door they walk through.

Continuity: When Gordo hands Lizzie his 'flier' which promotes his tutoring service, in this shot we can see that the whole edge of the paper (including the perforated margin) is completely intact. But in the next shot half of the margin is missing (torn off) which then appears again in the next.

Continuity: When Lizzie and Miranda are pushing their table closer to the one that Gordo and Ethan are sitting at, they eventually knock the tables into one another, causing everything to tip over, including their two drinks. Between shots the arrangement of the items over the tables changes and the two drinks glasses disappear as well.

Continuity: When Mr. and Mrs. McGuire are talking to Matt and Oscar (who are on the floor surrounded by toys) in the first shots we see Oscar sitting with a toy gun on the floor in front of him. In the next shot it is instantly on his lap.

Continuity: When Matt and Lanny get up from the floor to help unwrap the cling-film off Lizzie, the camoflague hat that Matt was wearing stays on the floor (as it fell off when he landed.) But in the next shot as he gets up, the hat is back on his head. In the next shot it is off his head and on the floor in the original place it was.

Continuity: When Lizzie and Mr. Dig are talking in the hallway, Mr. Dig has a set of headphones around his shoulder. From shot to shot the position of the earpads on the headphones keeps changing.

Continuity: When Matt and Lanny drop all of the bottles of honey and rolls of cling-film onto the picnic table in the garden and begin to talk, during the scene the positions of all the items keeps changing. Additionally there is a bottle of honey stood on the table in between Matt and Lanny which keeps disappearing and reappearing.

Continuity: After Mr. Dig crashes into the tree in the outdoor eating area, the position of his scooter, papers and briefcase on the floor changes between shots.

Continuity: After Matt and Lanny have 'mummified' Lizzie in cling- film, between shots the way Lizzie is wrapped up differs and also in one shot both of her hands are free but in the next shot her left hand is suddenly trapped under cling-film.

Continuity: When Miranda sits down at the table after Ethan tells them about going bowling, Lizzie's hand jumps from being on her milkshake cup to on her shoulder between shots.

Visible crew/equipment: When Mr. Dig is talking to Miranda and Gordo after crashing into the tree, you can see the boom microphone reflected in his red helmet in each shot.

Continuity: First the director has heaps of ketchup on his face, but in the next shot, it has mostly disappeared.

Continuity: When Lizzie was studying after her fight with Gordo and Miranda, she started to sharpen her pencil, but in the next shot, the pencil sharpener disappeared, and a rubber on the end of the pencil appeared and disappeared.

Continuity: At the Halloween party, after Lizzie notices the bride and groom dolls disappear from the table, the items around the space where they disappeared completely change between shots.

Continuity: When Lizzie bursts into the cafeteria in a trance like state, moaning like a zombie, she is wearing a large purple ring on her right hand. However it swaps to her left hand a few shots later and remains on her left hand for the rest of the episode.

Continuity: When Mr. and Mrs. Sanchez are dropping off the Day of the Dead ornaments to the Fright Night party, Mr. Sanchez hands Kate a fake rubber hand and she takes it with her right hand. In the next shot she is holding it in her left.

Continuity: After Matt tells Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo that he ate the Day of the Dead food offering, he puts it down on the side as they continue talking. The food is sitting on top of an orange napkin, but in the next shot the napkin is empty and the food is gone. The food then reappears in the napkin again.

Continuity: Matt and Lanny are sitting at the table, marking on their map where to visit for Halloween. Lizzie then comes in and starts an insult throwback. Between shots the marker pens lying on the map swap their placements.

Continuity: Lizzie pulls the rubber eyeball out of the glass of mud she is holding, to prove that the mud is actually the remains of Matt, who was turned into mud for upsetting the spirits. As she pulls the eyeball out, between shots the way she is holding it changes.

Continuity: When Matt ran into Kate, and there was a close up of Matt, in the background, Kate's arms were crossed, but in the next shot, they were by her sides.

Continuity: At school, Lizzie had a purple beaded necklace, but later at the digital bean, she had a black choker.

Continuity: During the scene where Mr. Keith introduces himself to the class and writes his name on the chalkboard, his name changes from underlined to not underlined between shots.
