Mistake Other: In the episode airing 10/18/05, Roman gets a cell phone call while in Alice's bar. The phone call is from Kate, informing him that John is about to storm the penthouse. During the phone call, Roman only says, "What the hell happened?" and "I'll get over to the penthouse as soon as I can." He proceeds to tell Bonnie and Lucas that he has to go and he'll be back, and nothing more. But later on in the bar, Sami asks where Roman went, and somehow, Lucas seems to be able to tell her that Roman went to the penthouse because of "Something about John." How did Lucas know that phone call was regarding John when Roman never said it for him to hear?

Mistake Continuity: Oct 2003 - When Belle and Shawn are looking through the photo album, there's a picture of Jen in a wedding dress, and Jack dressed as a fireman. Shawn mentions that was Jack and Jen's first wedding. WRONG. That is when Jack stopped Jen's wedding from Emilio. He faked a fire and kidnapped her. Jennifer and Jack got married at the 'Wild West' arena.

Mistake Plot hole: On the 11/17/03 episode, it was stated that the sudden darkness on 11/14/03 was the result of an eclipse. But that doesn't make sense at all. The characters were very surprised by the event. However, the times and locations of eclipses are always well known to astronomers. When one is going to happen, close to everyone in the affected area is aware of it. If an eclipse really happened "out of the blue" without anyone expecting it, it would be instantaneously newsworthy on a global level. The explanation that because of the serial killer being featured in all the headlines that they had not noticed the information about the eclipse makes no sense, as the same people who normally know about impending eclipses would have known about this one.

Mistake Plot hole: The week of 2/23/04, Marlena tried to kill Shawn by stabbing him to death while he slept, but Jan was in the bed instead. By this time, Marlena had killed seven people, several of them by slashing. So she was a skilled and accomplished killer. Yet somehow, when she was done with Jan, Jan was in good enough health to get out of Shawn's apartment, get out of that building, walk to the Kiriakis mansion, and get upstairs to Nicole's bedroom.

Mistake Continuity: When Nicolas Alamain returned a couple years ago, he attempted to have an affair with the much older Kate Roberts. The problem with this was that Nicolas was not much younger than his mother Carly, or his almost step father Bo Brady. He had been the same age as Shawn Douglas, but they aged him too far, and there was not enough difference between his and his parents' ages.

Mistake Continuity: When "John Black" was proven to be Roman Brady, DNA tests were used to prove he was really Roman with plastic surgery. Years later, after the real Roman Brady returned and John Black was once again John to prove who was Belle's father, all it took was a simple blood test; but years earlier, they had the same blood type.

Mistake Plot hole: When Marlena finds out that Lucas has been working for Tony DiMera, she is angry and upset. He says it's none of her business, but she says that it is her business because she is the grandmother of Lucas' son, Will. Sami finds out about Lucas' new job about a month later, and is shocked. If Marlena was so concerned about Will, why didn't she say anything about Lucas' new job to Sami, Will's mother?

Mistake Continuity: The character of Hope Williams Brady was born in real time on January 10, 1974. When the character was believed to be dead in 2000, her tombstone indicated that she had been born in 1963. This was done because the writers had aged the character by about ten years during her absence from the show around 1980.

Mistake Continuity: Shawn Douglas Brady was a ring-bearer, about 4 years old, at the wedding of John Black and Isabella Toscano in 1992. At the wedding, Isabella gave birth to their son Brady. All of the children on the show were recast in 1999 to be much older. Brady Black is now three years older than Shawn, instead of the other way around.

Mistake Factual error: When Abe is shot, Bo, John, and even the paramedics need some training in their CPR. First off, Bo and John do 3 chest compressions and 1 breath (or 2 I can't remember) when it's supposed to be 15 compressions and 2 breaths. Then, when the paramedics take over, they aren't even doing the chest compressions the right way. They compress with their fingers rather than their palms and they look like they're compressing in Abe's ribs rather than up by his breastbone. I know it's TV and that they can't give real compressions, but they could at least make it look like they know what they're doing and do CPR the right way.

Mistake Other: On 9/26/03, there was a quick montage of all the suspects in Abe's shooting superimposed on a shot of the comatose Commander Carver. It had been well established that the seven suspects were Kate, Lucas, Sami, Tony, Rex, Victor, and Nicole. However, Lucas was missing from the montage.

Mistake Continuity: When Roman is questioning Abe as to who shot him, Abe has a flashback of talking to the soon-to-be shooter and right before he gets shot, he says he's taken all the precautions and has his bullet proof vest on, yet when the paramedics ripped his shirt open to do CPR, there was no vest.

Mistake Factual error: The Salem Police Department is grossly misusing the term "serial killer" in conjunction with the Abe Carver murder. The inaccuracies are too numerous to list, but the most obvious is the fact that the police believe that Abe was murdered by someone with a specific motive. A serial killer selects victims based on a general profile, usually in conjunction with a psychological "need" to commit the crime. The police brand the unidentified murder a serial killer based purely on the fact that they think he or she may strike again. But not every multiple murderer is a serial killer, and the police would certainly know better than to fall prey to this misnomer.

Mistake Plot hole: On 10/6/03, Sami tries to listen at the door when Marlena meets with Kate in the latter's office at Basic Black. She says to herself that she wants to find out Kate's secret. But Sami already knows that Kate was once a prostitute. Sami used evidence of Kate's past to blackmail Kate and Victor; Kate's son Austin found out, and that was one of the reasons why he left Sami at the altar. Even though Sami can't know for sure that this is the same secret that is now in question, she is acting as if she knows nothing incriminating about Kate.

Mistake Factual error: Throughout the serial killer plot in the fall of 2003, Celeste often dealt tarot cards. The Death card turned up very frequently, and it was always treated as though it actually meant death. I can see how a layperson could make this mistake, but Celeste should know that the Death card simply represents transformation and is not an omen of doom.

Mistake Continuity: On 10/9/03, Marlena sees the blood-red moon and says that she does not believe in signs or omens because she is a psychiatrist. Marlena was possessed by the Devil in 1995, so it doesn't make sense for her not to believe in mystical things, woman of science or not.

Mistake Factual error: It is impossible for Jack to donate his organs seeing as he's a cancer survivor.

Mistake Continuity: At the end of the 10/16/03 episode, Brady and Philip began to fight in Salem Place. At the same time, Will left the apartment after hearing Sami and Lucas saying they wished he'd never been born, and Victor told Nicole they were going to leave the mansion and go for a walk at Salem Place. The scenes were replayed at the beginning of the 10/17/03 episode, as they usually are, but there was a big discrepancy in the timeframe. While Brady and Philip went through the exact same scene as they began their fight, Sami and Lucas had already spent some time looking for Will around town, and Nicole and Victor had made it down to Salem Place for their walk.

Mistake Plot hole: On 10/27/03, Brady picks up a newspaper with the headline, "Suspect List Grows in Police Slaying." But that doesn't make any sense. The page features pictures of the same seven people who have been suspects for the last few weeks, and no other suspects have come to light. The suspect list hasn't grown at all.

Mistake Plot hole: On 11/11/03, Brady shows Nicole a newspaper with the headline "Maggie Horton Brutally Murdered on Halloween." But where did this newspaper come from? It's very late at night, and Maggie just died in the previous episode.
