Continuity: On 3/16/04, in John's hypnosis-induced vision, he reacted violently against the idea that Marlena might be the "Salem Slasher." But the serial killer has always been called either the "Salem Stalker" or just the "Salem Serial Killer." Continuity: On 3/11/04, Marlena mentioned that Shawn Douglas is twenty one years old. But that's not in keeping with either of his timelines. He was really born on April 6, 1987, so he should only be sixteen right now. But he was aged previously, and graduated from high school at age eighteen in 2002. Revealing: On 1/26/04, the big, muscular animal handler was struck very lightly in the back of the shoulder, with what looked like a flimsy rubber or plastic object, and fell unconscious. Continuity: At Roman and Kate's wedding ceremony and thereafter (December, 2003 - January, 2004), Sami made frequent reference to the fact that Marlena and Roman are "still married in the eyes of God," presumably a reference to the fact that the Catholic church does not condone divorce. With no shortage of characters who wanted Sami to just shut up, why did nobody bring up the fact that Marlena married and divorced Don Craig several years before she married Roman, and is therefore married only to him "in the eyes of God" if one insists on using that standard? Continuity: On 10/9/03, Marlena sees the blood-red moon and says that she does not believe in signs or omens because she is a psychiatrist. Marlena was possessed by the Devil in 1995, so it doesn't make sense for her not to believe in mystical things, woman of science or not. Submitted by DavidK93

Continuity: When "John Black" was proven to be Roman Brady, DNA tests were used to prove he was really Roman with plastic surgery. Years later, after the real Roman Brady returned and John Black was once again John to prove who was Belle's father, all it took was a simple blood test; but years earlier, they had the same blood type.

Continuity: On 2/27/04, Julie made a phone call and told the person on the other end that Doug believed he knew the serial killer's identity, and only then did she directly address the person as Marlena. Plot hole: On 7/7/05, Lucas told Sami that Will had called him from summer camp to say he was having a good time but misses Sami. However, just a few episodes earlier, when it was already the same day, Sami was making an American flag dessert that she said was for Lucas and Will. Continuity: In December of 2004, Bo and Billie flew to Europe at night to look for their daughter Georgia. On 12/3/04, it was shown to be daytime at the castle where Roman and Marlena were being held. Then, on 12/13/04, Bo and Billie arrived at the castle but it was dark outside. On 12/15/04, they were inside the castle and it was again full daylight outside. The whole time, it just got later and later on the same night in Salem. Submitted by DavidK93

Revealing: On 12/19/03, Sami was attacked by the masked killer in an alley. She breaks away from him or her, does a backflip, and lands near the opposite wall. Ali Sweeney, the actress who plays Sami, has straight blonde hair. During the flip, the stunt double also had blonde hair, but it was very curly. Submitted by DavidK93

Continuity: When Roman is questioning Abe as to who shot him, Abe has a flashback of talking to the soon-to-be shooter and right before he gets shot, he says he's taken all the precautions and has his bullet proof vest on, yet when the paramedics ripped his shirt open to do CPR, there was no vest.

Plot hole: On the 11/17/03 episode, it was stated that the sudden darkness on 11/14/03 was the result of an eclipse. But that doesn't make sense at all. The characters were very surprised by the event. However, the times and locations of eclipses are always well known to astronomers. When one is going to happen, close to everyone in the affected area is aware of it. If an eclipse really happened "out of the blue" without anyone expecting it, it would be instantaneously newsworthy on a global level. The explanation that because of the serial killer being featured in all the headlines that they had not noticed the information about the eclipse makes no sense, as the same people who normally know about impending eclipses would have known about this one. Factual error: On 6/26/07, Sami's obstetrician told her that she was pregnant with fraternal twins, a boy and a girl, and that the sample of amniotic fluid that had already been drawn could be used for paternity testing on both babies. But fraternal twins always have separate amniotic sacs, meaning that the amniotic fluid must be drawn separately. Since the doctor didn't know there were two babies until the fluid was already drawn, it must have been drawn only once, from one sac, meaning a second amnio would have to be performed. Continuity: On 2/8/06, Abe Carver said that "two years ago," the recently deceased Zack had given him "the gift of being a father." Continuity: On Thursday, 10/13/05, Belle saw Shawn and Mimi together on the roof. At the end of the episode, she was climbing down the ladder when her foot slipped and she appeared to fall. Belle was not seen on 10/14/05, and then at the beginning of the episode on 10/17/05, they showed a completely different scene where Belle was climbing down the ladder and her foot almost slipped from a rung, but she didn't loose her footing nearly as much as she had the first time these events were shown. Bo had to use his body to block the elevator door from closing so he could go back out onto the hospital floor.
