Passions (1999) - 139 mistakes in entire show

Revealing: On 10/13/03, Ivy and David are discussing their plans in normal speaking voices while the unsuspecting Grace and John stand within arm's reach. They are well within earshot, yet the audience is expected to believe that Grace and John can't hear them.

Plot hole: The Antonio-Sheridan-Luis triangle stopped making any sense a very long time ago. Antonio has been healthy since March, 2003, so there's no reason why anybody hasn't told him by October that Sheridan and Luis are in love (They couldn't tell him earlier due to his illness and the need to keep him very calm.). Furthermore, even though none of their friends or family said anything to Antonio, he surely would have heard by now. After all, the Cranes are front page news (witness the revelation of Ethan's paternity and the recovery of Sheridan from the ocean - the second time), so surely it would have been a huge tabloid scandal when Sheridan married the brother of her former fiancé.

Plot hole: Although Eve had told Grace about her secret past with Julian, she never told her that Liz was really her sister. She only told Julian, David, and Ivy. But in August, 2003, Eve and Grace began to have a conversation about the situation as if Grace already knew.

Plot hole: There is no doubt that Luis must be the father of Sheridan's baby. Sheridan and Antonio did not make love at any point after July, 2002. When she regained her memory and remembered her love for Luis, she successfully held off Antonio until their wedding in December. Meanwhile, she did make love to Luis several times that summer and fall. Antonio never had a chance to even try to make love to Sheridan after the wedding, because he fell into a coma. He regained consciousness in March, 2003 at the same time that Sheridan learned she was pregnant. Why does she and everyone else act as if the baby could be either Antonio's or Luis's?

Plot hole: Theresa goes to visit Chad and Whitney in LA the day after they moved there. Everybody acts as if they've already been there for a long time and Theresa has "finally" been convinced to visit them.

Plot hole: When Gwen and Ethan were getting ready to go to Los Angeles, Gwen told Ethan that she wanted to stay in Harmony until they knew that Kay (Ethan's half-sister who he barely knew until two years ago) and her baby were out of the woods. Once that happened, they left, without any concern at all for Sheridan (Gwen's lifelong best friend and the woman Ethan thought was his aunt for twenty years), even though she was still missing.

Continuity: Throughout 2000-2001, the character of Ethan Crane was said to have three sisters who were all away at boarding school. By 2003, he instead had just two still-absent sisters, and a brother, Fox, who now appears on the show. (By siblings, I mean children who were raised as Julian and Ivy's.)

Continuity: At the end of the 9/10/03 episode, the song "Number 1 Crush" is about halfway through when Theresa removes Fox's shirt as they dance seductively. At the beginning of the 9/11/03 episode, the scene is replayed just as the song starts, but Fox is already shirtless.

Plot hole: The Lopez-Fitzgeralds should be completely destitute by now (September, 2003). They were always supposedly very short on money, even when Pilar, Theresa, and Luis were all working. But Pilar and Theresa have been fired by the Cranes, and there's no Crane money coming to Luis or Antonio through Sheridan ever since she was kidnapped, plus Miguel is in college, and Theresa and Miguel each have a baby. Forget about Maria's hospital bills - How do they even have food on the table?

Continuity: Theresa arrives in LA the same day as Ethan. That night he accidentally crawls into bed with her. The next day they all wake up and discover Ethan in bed with Theresa. At one point (in the same episode) characters refer to what happened between Ethan and Theresa and state that it happened the night before. At another point characters refer to what happened and state that it happened a few days ago.

Continuity: When Sheridan faked her own death in 2001 to escape from the drug cartel, she was buried alive. Timmy and Tabitha dug up the grave, and it was deep enough for Tabitha to stand in, upright, without her head reaching above the surface; it appeared to be the standard six feet deep. Then Julian had the grave filled in with cement after a token amount of dirt was shoveled in. But when the men broke apart the cement with their shovels, it was only about six inches thick. And when they finally dug through the cement and dirt, the coffin was also much closer to the surface than it had been before.

Continuity: On 9/22/03, when Nicole first appeared, there was a close-up of her while she was talking to Fox, and she stepped down into the swimming pool (We heard the splashes and she moved downwards.). In the wide shot that immediately followed, Nicole was back on the concrete at the edge of the pool, and she again stepped down onto the first step in the water.

Revealing: On 9/23/03, Theresa was in the closet talking to herself about Gwen and her baby. She very obviously flubs the word "because," pronouncing it more like "bikyiz."

Continuity: The show is woefully inconsistent in regards to when conversations can and cannot be overheard. Tabitha, Ivy, Kay, and Liz all routinely eavesdrop through closed plate-glass windows. On the other hand, Whitney could not hear Chad and LaToya speaking through an open doorway. Also, years ago, Ethan somehow couldn't hear Theresa talking to Pilar about her love for him even though he was standing on the landing directly above them. To contrast, Days Of Our Lives has managed to avoid such egregious discrepancies.

Plot hole: On 10/2/03, LaToya walked up to Chad at the hospital and slapped him. But Puff Dog only gave her the address of the Crane apartment where Chad was staying, so how did LaToya find Chad at the hospital?

Continuity: On 10/6/03, Theresa called home to talk to her mother Pilar and her son Ethan. Ethan, born in the summer of 2002, had not been seen on the show for a little while, and was now much older than previously. He was about two or three years old.

Plot hole: A person can typically survive for only about five minutes without oxygen. It's not entirely clear how much time elapsed after Beth and Charlie dumped Sheridan into the water on 9/25/03, but we do know that before she resurfaced, the women returned to the dock, Luis took the same boat back out onto the water, and then returned to the dock as well and made it all the way to Beth's house. This must have taken much longer than five minutes. Yet, inexplicably, Sheridan - who had given birth to a baby just hours earlier - was still alive when she was brought to the hospital on 10/8/03.

Continuity: On 11/22/05, Pilar and Martin learned that their daughter Paloma has been smuggling drugs. They are at the police station when Paloma admits this to them in the late evening. The next time we see them, on 11/25/05, it is morning of the next day, but her parents are only just recating to her statement as if no time had passed, instead of some twelve hours.

Plot hole: In October, 2003, when Sheridan nearly drowned after being dumped off the boat, she found herself in a heavenly setting where her dead mother Katherine guided her "into the light." The next week, Death came and removed her spirit from her hospitalized body while she struggled against it. But wasn't she already dead?.

Continuity: On 10/13/03, Gwen's memories come rushing back, of how Theresa contributed to her losing her baby. One of the memories is of seeing Ethan and Theresa making out on televesion. But she remembers it completely differently from how it really happened. When she was upset at what she saw on television while the doctors were there, what she was seeing was Julian and Rebecca denouncing Theresa's charitable contributions. When she saw the kiss, she was alone in her hospital room. In the flashback, the two scenes are merged.
