The Simpsons (1989) - 1325 mistakes in entire show

Continuity: This is a mistake for the introduction for the later episodes. When Homer screams, he turns round. You see this in a wide shot. There are no boxes to the right of the door in the garage. However, two just appear out of thin air when he runs through the garage.

Continuity: When Homer's Vegas wife shows him the video in front of Marge, it shows Homer kissing Ned. This didn't happen when she showed it in the Vegas episode.

Continuity: When Bart leaves the school, you can see that his skateboard is green and perfectly flat. But when he is skating through the crowd and past the people at the bus stop, the skateboard has an orange stripe down the middle and is raised at the rear.

Continuity: For seasons 1 and 2, in the introduction Lisa narrowly misses Homer on her bike, then lets it roll into the garage. If you look closely, you can see the bike disappear before the screen moves.

Continuity: When Maggie goes through the checkout at the beginning, Marge's trolley is grey and has a red handle. But in the next shot, when Maggie pops out of the bag, the trolley has no red handle, and is a turquoise colour.

Continuity: In the introduction for all episodes, initially Maggie's seat is light purple. However, in the wider shot of her and Marge, the seat changes to a burgundy colour.

Continuity: In the bit where they sit on the sofa at the start of each episode, there is one rather long one where it starts off with the Simpsons dancing in a line, then gradually evolves into a circus with elephants and men dancing around fire. Look closely in between Homer's right leg and the dancing woman on his right. There is a pile of books on the little shelf underneath the lamp and telephone, and just as the camera starts zooming out from the line of dancing, the orange book on the left noticeably changes to purple.

Other: During the theme, the Simpsons' mailbox flag is on the wrong side of the mailbox. (Flags are always on a mailbox's right side, when viewed from the front. The one at the Simpson home is on the left side of their mailbox.).

Continuity: In the episode where Homer builds a dog house. the notepad Homer draws the blueprint on, changes from having content on it to being blank so he can draw on it.

Continuity: Treehouse of Horror 18: When Marge puts the logo Hugh Laurie in the microwave, he splatters in the corner. Next shot the splatter is in the middle of the microwave.

Audio problem: In the episode where Homer is hosting gay marriages, at one point Homer is strangling Bart and tells Lisa to hold his spot. You can hear Lisa say, "Why you little," and you can hear Bart choking, but neither of their mouths is moving.

Factual error: In episode 19-7: "Husbands and Knives," the cover of "World's Finest Comics" 94 is shown on the wall at the comic book store. It features Superman with a sign that says, "Gotham or Bust," and Batman gulping. The actual cover of "World's Finest Comics" 94 shows Superman being sprayed with liquid kryptonite while Batman and Robin catch sight of him.

Continuity: In the old main title sequence, when Homer gets out of his car, the door inside the garage is red, but when he is screaming and running towards it, it's now brown.

Continuity: In "Sex, Pies, and Idiot scrapes": When Homer has Snake cornered, the second rung on the ladder behind them is broken. In the next shot it's not broken, then it is again.

Continuity: In the new opening credits (from Feb 09) when the camera is zooming into the bullies cutting the head off the statue Ralph Wiggum is nowhere to be seen, but when the head falls off, it lands on Ralph.

Factual error: When a comet is about to hit Springfield, everyone is standing on a hill in the shadow of it. But the shadow is still there even after it breaks up.

Continuity: In the new opening sequence, Kearney and Dolph cut off Jebbidah's head. But in the pan of the city, the head is back.

Continuity: In the new opening sequence (season 20), you see Kearney and Jimbo sawing off the Jebediah Springfield statue's head, which starts falling down. In this wide plan, overhead and closing up, the whole town square is in full sight with no one visible besides those characters. The shot cuts to a close-up of the statue's head falling on Ralph Wiggum, now right next to the statue's pedestal where he was calmly eating an ice cream cone.

Continuity: Season 20, episode 16, "Eeny Teeny Maya Mo." In the scene where Moe is cleaning his window inside the bar, take notice that the size of the spot he cleans on the inside of the bar is small. But when the shot changes to the outside, with Moe and the others looking out from the inside, the clean spot is larger.

Continuity: Season 20, episode 16, "Eeny Teeny Maya Mo." As Marge is feeding Maggie a grapefruit, Bart takes out his bongo drums and plays them. Watch as Bart plays - the shot zooms in from the back of Bart towards Maggie, and you can't see Marge in the scene sitting close to Maggie; the next shot shows her though.

Continuity: In the episode where Marge becomes a construction worker, one of the more recent ones, it is revealed that Bart is very allergic to shrimp. However, in the episode where Marge and Homer get "framed" for a murder and end up on "Frame Up", Bart says he was in the green room and that he "ate so much shrimp".

Continuity: On various occasions the front door, viewed from the inside of the house, has hinges - and therefore opens - on the wrong side, if you compare it to the shots of it from the outside.

Continuity: Million Dollar Abie: When the bulls are stampeding, people who were at the top of the stadium and safe can be seen running in front of the bulls.

Continuity: Lewis changes from black to yellow when Milhouse dares Bart to pull Santa's beard off.

Deliberate "mistake": After Homer brings Santa's Little Helper home, Homer and Marge hug, and if you look behind them, the background is upside down. There is a picture hanging upside down, and there is a lamp which seems to be hanging from the ceiling. Then in the next shot, the background is normal.

Continuity: While having breakfast, all of the Simpsons' glasses of orange juice keep disappearing and reappearing throughout the scene.

Continuity: Bart yanks Homer's beard off in the mall, Homer then takes Bart into Santa's workshop. When they are inside Santa's workshop, Homer's beard is back on, despite the fact that he didn't put it back on, he let it fall to the ground when Bart pulled it off.

Continuity: When Homer walks out Circus of Values with his purchases, he bumps into Flanders, and all the presents scatter everywhere. Watch out for a red present with a green bow that goes flying near the left hand side of the screen. As soon as it hits the ground it turns into a pink box with a white bow wrapped around it, with no shot changes.

Other: When Marge is speaking on the phone to her sisters, her sisters say something that sounds like they said that Homer is ugly. Marge then puts down the phone wire that she was curling round her finger. It is easier to see this when you are using DVD, because then you can go into slow-motion, but you can temporarily see that the phone wire disappears when Marge puts it down. It is at the very end of an early scene, because as soon as this happens it changes to another scene.

Continuity: When Mr. Burns comes on the P.A. system Homer started eating a donut, he takes a bite and after that the donut stays the same size even though he takes 2 more bites

Continuity: Just before the kitchen mistake, Marge walks through the doorway from a room with a piano, beside a bare wall, and on the piano are two frames and music sheets. But when Marge turns the jar upside down, there is a large picture on the wall beside the piano, and the music sheets and frames have disappeared from the piano.

Continuity: When Homer has been informed about the Christmas money being spent on Bart getting his tattoo surgically removed, he leaves the house. When he opens and closes the door to leave, the wreath on the door is white with a red bow. When Homer then turns to look his Christmas decorations, the wreath is now green.

Continuity: During the family's breakfast, in most shots Marge sits right beside Maggie's highchair, but in certain close-ups they are quite a few feet away from one another.

Continuity: When Millhouse, Bart and Lewis are talking about the fake Santa, Millhouse's eyebrows go from blue to black to blue again.

Continuity: When Homer finds out that he has no Christmas bonus the background behind Marge is the kitchen, but then it cuts to Homer and the background behind him is the kitchen too.

Audio problem: When Homer is putting Christmas lights around the outside of the house, he falls from the roof. You can then hear Lisa and Bart sarcastically clap. But you can see they both have their hands by their side, and no-one is clapping.

Continuity: When Homer walks up the front drive you can see the road and there are no markings on it. But when he turns to look at his house, there are orange lines running down the road.

Continuity: When Homer and Flanders drop their presents, the presents move around and change colours between shots.

Continuity: When Marge reveals the Christmas money from her hair, her necklace changes from red to white.

Continuity: When Bart is explained the answer RDRR, there is a shot of him. There is a blue background where the classroom should be.

Continuity: The whole family goes to the opera to see "Carmen". They have balcony seats and the stage is to their left, yet later on you can see them looking to their right.

Continuity: While Bart starts the I.Q. quiz and is reading it out loud, his teacher says "Shh. Visualize it Bart." While this happens if you look in the background you can see the alphabet line. It starts out Tt Uu Vv Ww, then Bart's teacher blocks out some, then you see the letter T again.

Factual error: When Bart is in the genius school, the teacher asks him if he knows what happens if he adds an acid to a base. He replies yes, adds them anyway and the lab explodes and a green goo comes out, turning Bart green. If you add an acid to a base, you just get salt and water.

Factual error: After Bart's prank call with Moe, you can see Bart and Lisa laughing. However the telephone's wire does not connect to the receiver.

Audio problem: Just after Mr Smithers says "...so that we have the energy to from your favourite video game to yummy cotton candy machines", all the children start clapping but the sound of clapping starts BEFORE they start clapping.

Continuity: In the park, Marge's necklace changes from white to red.

Continuity: At the very end of the episode, when Homer is being carried off by the crowd, you can see that the crowd carrying Homer, the people are small, so you'll have to look closely, but right before the credits, Marge's necklace changes from red to white, back to red and then finishes with white all in one shot.

Other: When Homer is at Moe's, there is a boxing match happening on TV. There is a bald guy who is getting considerably battered by the opponent and gets knocked out, and then for some absurd reason he is victoriously standing as if he had won.

Continuity: As Homer is carrying the TV towards the pawn shop in the first shot the left window is clear. There is then a tracking shot of the family walking and when they get in front of the store the window has writing on it saying Pawn Shop. The writing is in black and the next shot when they are talking the writing is now dark brown.

Audio problem: When Marge gets drunk at the picnic, she falls on Homer while saying "Homie, did you try the punch?", her lips don't move.

Continuity: When the Simpsons are spying on the old man, the boy and the old woman, all three of them disappear and then reappear between shots. Whenever there is a wide shot from outside the house, they are not there but when there is a close shot from outside or inside they are there.

Continuity: When Bart's army is attacking Nelson, there are a lot more kids attacking Nelson then there were training with Bart.

Continuity: At the start when the bully takes the cupcakes, you can see that after he has started eating them there are 4 left in the box. Just before he shuts the lid to drop it, you can just see the tops of 6 cupcakes.

Factual error: When Bart declares war on Nelson, Herman uses the declaration from the Franco-Prussian war and puts "Bart" in place of "Otto Von Bismarck". The thing is, Bismarck didn't declare the Franco-Prussian War, Napoleon III of France did. A small error, maybe, but something that a war buff like Herman should know.

Deliberate "mistake": When Grandpa Simpson is typewriting a letter in his room, the words he's spelling out loud don't match his fingers hitting the keys.

Continuity: When Bart is training up his army, the colours of the kid's tops keep changing between shots.

Continuity: When Bart enters the tree house after being beaten up, he puts his hat on a peg behind him. In some later shots at an angle you can just see the hat behind him. In the shots from directly in front of Bart, the hat is not on the peg.

Continuity: Marge drops Lisa off at school for band practice, and she walks up to the entrance steps, and then converses with two boys. Then her teacher comes up, and Marge gets annoyed. When she comes to grab Lisa back into the car, Lisa is right by the roadside, along with the two boys and the music teacher.

Continuity: When Homer says "I can't concentrate with that infernal racket", the shot goes up onto Lisa's room. From the outside, there is no window frame on the window. But from the inside, there is one going right through the middle.

Continuity: When Marge is driving Lisa to school, in one shot you can see that her necklace is red. Then in the next shot it is white. It then changes back to red and stays that way.

Continuity: When Homer and Bart are playing video boxing for the first time, the interior of the living room keeps changing.

Continuity: When Bart and Homer first play the video boxing, the window behind them shows that it's broad daylight outside. When Homer blames his loss on Lisa's sax, it cuts to Lisa's room and it's night all of a sudden.

Continuity: When Marge says, "Oh Homer, you'll lose your head if it wasn't secured to your neck," her necklace is white. However, when she gives the cup cakes to Homer and Bart, it is red.

Continuity: When the bear first confronts Maggie, she is on a path. Yet in the next shot when the bear lands on the ground, she is on grass.

Continuity: When the cameraman is filming Homer in the mud, he screams quite a few times. Yet on the news report showing the footage, we only hear Homer yelling and not the screams.

Other: The scientist who describes Homer as a brilliant beast seems to have some of his hair magically floating above his ear - it's not connected to his head, yet it moves alongside his head.

Continuity: At work, the salad in Homer's sandwich disappears when he mentions that 'she' made it.

Continuity: When Marge is on the phone to her sisters, her necklace changes from white to red.

Continuity: Near the end when Homer is putting the colored ball things in the tube, right before Marge comes up behind him, the stripes on his tie switch sides for one shot.

Audio problem: Both Lenny and Carl's voices are wrong. At one point Carl's voice is higher pitched, and Lenny keeps speaking like Moe, or like a voice we haven't heard before.

Continuity: When Bart and his friends are making copies of the photo of Homer, the banner across the copier says "Copies 5 cents," but when they go to deposit the money it says 10 cents.

Continuity: When Homer and Bart are at the cabaret show, Mr. Burns and Smithers are there with two women. In almost all of the shots there is a woman sitting between Burns and Smithers, except in the close-up of them when Burns asks "How does he DO it?". Then Smithers is shown as sitting right next to Mr. Burns.

Other: After Ugolin (one of the French men looking after Bart) has taken Bart to the Chateau Maison, Cesar and Ugolin speak. (they aren't visible in this shot) Ugolin says "Escape is impossible", but the subtitles say that Cesar says it and vice versa for when Cesar actually speaks.

Continuity: When Agnes meets Bart and his friend, it cuts to Skinner, then to Bart's group and quickly back to Skinner. When it goes to Bart's group (before Skinner) Lewis is yellow like the rest, in all other scenes he is black.

Continuity: When the burglar points the gun at Apu and says "Hand over all your money in a paper bag" Apu immediately replies "Yes, yes, I will". But when Bart sees this incident on TV later, the time between the burglar demanding the money and Apu replying "Yes, yes" is much longer.

Continuity: When Sideshow Bob is shouting and screaming just before he is taken away in a police van, Lisa and Bart swap places right before Bart says "take him away boys".

Continuity: When the cops pin Krusty to the carpet, he moves further away from the yellow stripes between shots.

Deliberate "mistake": In the scene where the imposter Krusty is robbing the Kwik-e-mart, Krusty's hair is blueish green just like the real Krusty, but when Homer is describing the robber he says the the crook has red hair. This is so you have more clues on who the real impostor is. The imposter Krusty is really Sideshow-Bob who has red hair.

Continuity: In the initial robbery at the Kwik-E-Mart, Apu doesn't realise what's going on until the fake Krusty demands the money from him. Yet in the video shown in court, he turns to face the fake Krusty right as Homer screams.

Other: Apu already knew Homer because in the flashback episode, Homer's barbershop quartet, they were in a band. However, in the scene where Homer enters the Quick-E-Mart, Apu refers to Homer as steady customer as if he didn't know him.

Continuity: In "Krusty Gets Busted", Krusty's natural skin colour is established as yellow. In "Brush With Greatness" we see him wiping off the clown makeup to reveal that he has yellow skin. But in "Homer's Triple Bypass", he comes to visit Homer, with his white clown face, and tells him that "this isn't make-up". Other episodes after that also show that his skin is white...

Continuity: When we see the wide shot of Sideshow Bob being handcuffed, the reporter standing behind Bart and Lisa is wearing a purple jumper. But in the shot of Bart saying 'Take him away boys', the reporter is wearing a green jumper.

Continuity: When Homer reaches into the fridge to take out the tub of triple chocolate ice cream, we see it in a brown and white striped tub. When he lifts it out, it's turned into a plain pink tub and has shrunk considerably.

Continuity: Before Krusty is arrested, he grabs a drink and there is no olive in it. When he sits down, an olive has appeared in the drink.

Continuity: When Marge is throwing all the Krusty merchandise into a bag, the bag changes from grey to brown between shots.

Continuity: After Sideshow Bob finishes reading his book and puts it on the table, the pages of the book change from yellow to red between shots.

Continuity: When the store is being robbed, Homer throws his bag to the side and it lands face down near the stand of chips Homer jumps into. But when they are watching the video of this incident later, the bag is standing upright, far away from the spot it previously was at.

Continuity: Bart is shown sitting tied up on the couch and Ms. Botz walks in carrying a tied-up Lisa in her arms before dumping her on the sofa alongside Bart. You can see that the rope Ms. Botz has used to bind Lisa is wound right around her body from the neck right down to her ankles. A few shots later when Maggie comes down and frees her, the rope tying Lisa's legs together at the knees has disappeared.

Continuity: When Bart and Lisa ask Marge for food while she's waiting for Homer the time on the clock keeps going back and forth.

Continuity: When Martin does his book report, on the blackboard it says 'An afternoon with Ernest Hemingway : Reflections by Martin.' But when Bart goes up to do his report, the blackboard is clean.

Continuity: Bart's 1st grade drawing of cat on the fridge changes across the episode, especially its ears and whiskers.

Continuity: When Bart hands Ms.Krabbappel his final test, there are some shots going back and forth between their faces. During the first shot looking at Ms.Krabbappel, you can see a window behind her, and outside the window, there is no snow, even though there was a whole lot of it yesterday. During the next shot, the snow IS there. As the camera goes back and forth, the snow disappears and reappears.

Revealing: When there is a zoom in of the house just before Bart gets up late, it has the old arch-shaped windows, but in the rest of the episode it has the normal windows. It's obviously a screen from Season 1.

Continuity: Just before Bart's flashback, his shirt is orange, and the chair he's sitting on is blue. But in this episode, his shirt is a paler shade of orange and the chairs in the classroom are red.

Other: When Bart enters the school bus at the day of history test, we see close-up of his "Early American History" book open about in the middle, on the page saying "Chapter 1".

Audio problem: When Bart calls Milhouse to get the answers to the history test from him, Milhouses voice sounds a lot different from his usual voice. It sounds more like Mrs. Krapabbel's voice.

Continuity: When Lisa shows her exam to her family, the "a" note keeps changing from being circled in red and in a red round.

Continuity: Near the start, when Homer is going through the medicine cabinet and we see various items. He takes out various hair growth products, and then when we see what's left, the floss has vanished.

Continuity: When Homer is giving people tartar sauce at the cafeteria, he says "plenty for everybody" with his mouth closed at the end of him saying it. However the photo in the newspaper is shown with his mouth open. Also, for the last part of "everybody" his mouth doesn't move.

Continuity: When Homer is preparing the barbecue, he is wearing an apron that says "Mafia staff apron". After he goes to pick up the lighter fluid, it reads "Maffia staff apron", and after he has lit the barbecue, it is back to saying "Mafia".

Continuity: In Hungry are the Damned, when The Simpsons are on the spaceship and the aliens show them the food, there are 3 pots and two plates. Yet when the shot changes there are 4 pots and no plates.

Continuity: After the aliens have dropped off the Simpsons in their back yard, Marge is seen wearing her usual red pearls. Except in the final shot of the family. Then her pearls are white. This is not due to the alien light source altering the colors in the segment, because Marge's pearls have been a dark color through the whole episode, even inside the alien spaceship.

Continuity: When the Simpsons are about to eat on the spaceship, in one shot just before they eat there are 3 candles on the table, and when they all sit down they're gone.

Continuity: When Bart is unpacking his things from the box, if you look at the mantelpiece, we can see that there is a candle on the right hand side of it. But later on, there is a candle on the left hand side which wasn't previously there.

Continuity: When the Simpsons are eating for the second time the alien on the very left, which previously had spots on his cheek, now has no spots.

Continuity: In the Raven scene, you can see Homer's drool on his jacket, but in the next shot and following shots it's gone.

Continuity: In "Hungry Are The Damned", when the family are looking up at the UFO and Homer says that the burgers are getting cold, the burger he is eating has a bite out of it. In his close-up it is a whole burger.

Continuity: The shot glass that Burns places on his desk disappears for several frames before reappearing.

Continuity: After the safety expedition has taken place, we see that when everyone is in Burns' office that by his main doors there are 4 buttons on the wall. Yet when a shot from further away is shown, they are not there.

Continuity: At the end of the Capital City number, where the car comes towards camera before they shout "Capital City, yeah", watch Marge's dress. It's green as the car approaches, but as soon as it parks, it turns red, right before your eyes.

Continuity: When the Flanders and Simpsons first meet at the golf course, Flanders is wearing his usual long-sleeved green sweater over his shirt. After Homer says to him, "The fruit of my loins can beat the fruit of your loins any day of the week", the color of Flanders' sleeves are missing, making it look as if he's wearing a sleeveless pullover.

Continuity: Bart is putting pool balls while training with Lisa, the 2 balls remaining on the table change from white to a pink/red.

Continuity: During the tournament, Abe Lincoln hole, there is only one hole to shoot for when his legs open up, after Todd hits his ball through, you see 3 holes from the backside. After Bart hits his ball the legs open up to reveal 3 holes to shoot for from the frontside.

Continuity: When Flanders’ wife gives them the sandwiches in the recreation room there are 12 sandwiches, when Homer asks Ned to get him a beer there are only 6.

Continuity: When Patty and Selma bring food to the Simpsons' for one shot Patty's dress turns blue before turning purple again.

Continuity: The guardrail at the Springfield Gorge keeps changing between shots when Bart is about to make his big jump; in the first wide shot there is a short rail opposite the "stone ramp." Then in the Bart-POV shot from atop the ramp, the rail is much longer, and the parking lot and picnic area behind it have disappeared. And when Homer is actually jumping the gorge, the rail disappears altogether.

Continuity: When the family is talking at the dinner table about going to see Truckasaurus, the amount of food on everyone's plate continually changes between shots.

Other: After the boxing match, the boys start "boo-ing" to the TV, and for a few frames Lewis goes from black to yellow, then to black, causing a flashing effect.

Continuity: When Bart skates towards Homer's car, attempting to skate over it, the distance between the car and Bart changes between shots.

Audio problem: When Bart is attempting to skate over Homer's car with his friends watching, Milhouse says 'You're crazy Bart.' but his mouth never moves.

Continuity: When at the dinner table, Marge tells Homer and Bart that they can go to see Truck-o-saurus. In one shot Bart has his hands on the dinner table, but in the next shot his arms are by his side.

Continuity: When Homer falls down the gorge, the medics lift him up on a bungee and to the top of the cliff. Between shots the edge of the cliff changes from green grass to brown rock.

Continuity: When Bart falls off his skateboard after attempting to skate over Homer's car, as the shot zooms out you can see his board is nowhere to be seen.

Continuity: As Milhouse walks up to the TV to turn up the volume, Lewis is nowhere to be seen in a wide shot, but as Milhouse walks back over to the couch you can see Lewis sitting on the floor.

Continuity: When Homer is driving to Truckasaurus there is a wide shot of the road with two cars on it, but in the next side shot of the road, the road has loads more cars on it.

Continuity: When Bart attempts to skate over Homer's car, his three mates are watching. Between shots they change from standing on the driveway to standing on the pavement.

Continuity: In the beginning after Maggie hit Homer on the head, it shows him laying on the couch with Bart & Lisa on the left. The next shot it shows the TV, in the next shot it shows Homer on the left sitting and Bart & Lisa on the right. It's impossible for Homer to get up and switch sides with Bart And Lisa in less than 5 seconds.

Continuity: In Moe's Tavern, in the close-up of Marge as she says "Homer, look at me" the glass window behind her has a different pattern than in all the other shots (2 rows of red tiles instead of 3).

Revealing: After Marge has been in court, Mr Burns' lawyer says "Thank you very much Mrs Simpson", and when he does the top of his head above his glasses is less paler than the rest of his face.

Continuity: During Marge's testimony, Lionel Hutz has a neat stack of papers in front of him the whole time. But in the close-up when Homer and Hutz both cover their eyes in sorrow, Hutz has several pieces of crumbled paper and a broken pencil in front of him. The was not nearly enough time for him to make such a mess since the last shot of him.

Revealing: When Marge is being questioned, before she says 'If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all', there is a shot over her shoulder looking at the blue haired lawyer. Not only is he (the lawyer) there directly in front of her, but he is also sitting on the bench with Burns. In all other shots his chair is empty as it should be.

Continuity: When Homer is given his plate of sushi, there are four pieces on his plate. Moments later, before he begins to eat, he has six pieces on his plate.

Continuity: Just after Homer says, "This fish is delish", one of the pieces of sushi keeps reappearing even though Homer has already eaten it.

Audio problem: In this episode Homer makes a tape for Maggie because he believes that he is going to die. However the speech is terribly out of sync with Homer's mouth movements.

Continuity: When all the kids are watching TV, we see Wendell, Martin and Milhouse. Absurdly they appear to be right below the ceiling in this shot - when in every other shot they are sitting on the sofa or standing.

Continuity: When all the kids run out of the back door, Homer drops a blue box. In the next shot it is a yellow box with red lines on the edges.

Continuity: When Homer and Marge are discussing about unhooking cable, the time on the clock on Homer's bedside table changes between shots.

Continuity: In every other episode, the bar at Moe's Tavern is a regular L-shape. In this episode, it has somehow gained two additional angles on the long side, making it a Z-shape (plus the angle to the short end, which is not shown).

Continuity: When Bart and Lisa are at Sunday school, the teacher writes "HELL" on the board, which changes from being red to black between shots.

Continuity: At Sunday school, Milhouse's jumper changes from black to red between shots.

Continuity: When Homer is sitting watching cable, the rest of the family comes home and one of them is carrying a plant in a pot, which is put down next to the couch. While they watch and watch cable, it grows very tall and then withers down. When Homer goes behind the TV and starts kissing the wires, the plant has moved to next to the doorway and is suddenly fully grown again.

Continuity: When the family are outside, in the shot just after Homer says "At the worst possible time" you can see the living room - everybody has disappeared in that shot.

Other: When Homer is imagining being locked in the jail cell and he turns around to find he is in his own home, he turns to look at his family. There is a close up shot of his terrified face, and the people in the background watching the game (I think it might be Lenny & Karl)have no eyes. The rest of their face is fine, but their eyes are missing.

Continuity: When the door is answered to Mr Burns and Mr Smithers, Barney is seen answering, who has orange sleeves. However when the door is opened, you can just make out a white sleeve, which could be none other than Homer's.

Continuity: In the shot of Skinner admiring his tater tots, he is interrupted and lifts up his tray. As he inspects he tilts his tray to at least a 90 degree angle but everything, including the milk, stays in exactly the same spots.

Continuity: Patty and Skinner go to see 'Space Mutants IV: The Land Down Under'. In a season one episode, 'The Telltale Head', a sign on the Springfield Aztec movie theater reads 'Space Mutants IV: The Trilogy Continues'.

Continuity: When Herb, Bart and Lisa are watching Itchy and Scratchy, Herb's clothes change between shots.

Revealing: When Bart's dog is chewing on the TV remote, one of the shots on it is of "I Can't Believe They Invented It." with Troy McClure as the host. This is exactly the same shot from "Homer vs Lisa and the 8th Commandment". You can tell because Troy's voice is different. The lip sync is also out, revealing that the line "As an actor, my eyeballs need to look their whitest" is dubbed in.

Continuity: Abe's girlfriend dies in the middle of this episode, but in the end, seconds before the end credits, you can see her walk behind some other old people.

Other: In the scene where Lionel Hutz hands over the $106 check, Abe Simpson's room number is 18. After Abe called Homer, the manager of the Retirement Castle comes in. The number 18 has now disappeared.

Audio problem: After the donut delivery guy asks Carl why all the donuts are piling up, Carl responds with Lenny's voice.

Continuity: When Marge goes in front of her painting after it is uncovered she stops with her head in front of Mr. Burns' genital area. In the next shot, her head is shown in front of Mr. Burns' hand.

Continuity: When Mr. Burns and Smithers go to leave, the beak-like knocker has disappeared from the Simpsons' front door.

Continuity: In the scene where Bart and Homer find Marge's paintings in the attic, there is a shot of the paintings all stacked up and you can see that the edges of all of them are the same shade of pink as the front painting. However, when the boys flick through the paintings, the backgrounds and edges are a variety of colours, including pale blue.

Continuity: When Homer has caught General Sherman he beats it with an oar so that the oar snaps in two. Then suddenly Homer rows with both oars intact.

Continuity: When Martin is tied to the chair near the end of the episode, the number of ropes tied to him change from four, then to three, and then back to four.

Continuity: When Martin is tied up in the treehouse, at one point Bart takes the brick off the comic book and sets it down near Martin. When Bart and Millhouse fight, the brick disappears.

Continuity: When Bart, Martin and Milhouse start to fight, the Radioactiveman issue 1 that they were protecting has disappeared from the table. Then when Marge brings up some food, they all start eating. The table has disappeared altogether.

Continuity: When there is a rotating shot of Bart, Martin and Milhouse up in the treehouse, the shot never goes past the table, even though it should.

Audio problem: When Homer is kicking the postbox, Barney says something like "Fight the power" but his mouth never moves.

Other: There are two mistakes when Bart calls the Krusty Hotline: 1, The cereal box says the phone number is '1-909-O-U-KLOWN.' Bart presses eight buttons on the phone. 2, as he is dialing, you can HEAR seven buttons being pressed.

Audio problem: When Bart says "Krusty Hotline" his mouth doesn't move.

Continuity: When Mr. Burns notices that Homer is wearing a pink shirt to work, when he pauses and zooms in the video, Homer is looking almost directly at the camera. In the next shot, though, he is looking more to his left. The people surrounding him also change.

Continuity: Bart opens the house's front door, then the shot zooms out to show us that all of Springfield is at the Simpson house. In the next shot with Mayor Quimby the door is suddenly closed.

Audio problem: When Michael and Bart are playing a song to Lisa, Bart uses her bin as a drum. Sometimes you hear tapping, but Bart doesn't touch the bin.

Audio problem: When the lady is asking questions to Homer before Lisa wins the trip to Washington, what she says doesn't match her mouth.

Other: The first time we see all three children staring at the TV, the interior of the Simpson house seems different.

Continuity: When Lisa approaches the Abe Lincoln statue, there is an old person near her. In the next shot, there are three people suddenly surrounding her.

Audio problem: When Lisa is reading her speech for the essay contest, what she says does not match her mouth movements.

Plot hole: The Simpsons take a flight to Washington D.C. for Lisa's speech. But it is revealed in a later episode that Marge has a fear of flying. This was before it was discovered that she had a fear of flying.

Factual error: When the piano keys are shown when it is played at the end of the episode, it is shown having one black key each time. Real pianos start off with three black keys, then two, then three and so on.

Audio problem: During Marge and Homer's argument at the beginning, when Homer says that Ned Flanders is a jerk, his mouth doesn't match what he's saying.

Continuity: At the beginning, when there is an overhead shot of the Simpsons' lawn, the broken lawn mower has disappeared.

Continuity: When Mr. Burns is notified about the Leftorium, the can and can opener have disappeared from Smithers' hands.

Revealing: When Barney is drinking beer at Moe's Tavern, his chest is, for one frame, the same color as his shirt.

Other: At the end, you can briefly see Dr. Marvin Monroe. The cigar he is holding instantly changes from white to brown.

Other: When Rod and Todd Flanders are roasting marshmallows in the car, Todd's marshmallow was the only one above the lighter, even though both of them have turned black.

Continuity: When the family is having dinner, the glasses on the table keep disappearing/reappearing between shots.

Continuity: When Homer goes to the barbecue, he grabs a plate of burgers. There isn't a burger at the top of the pile. However, when Flanders talks to him there is a burger on the top.

Other: When Homer discovers that the Leftorium is going out of business, there is a sign that says 'Coming Soon: Gum for Less' beside the store. Later on, though, Ned says the new store is becoming 'Libertarian Party Headquarters.'

Continuity: When Homer buys Ned's living room for $75, Bart is wearing a pink "Ned loves Maude" T-Shirt but by the end of the scene where Bart says "Hands off my china hutch." his shirt is the standard orange shirt.

Continuity: When Bart crashes at the social club, his skateboard changes position between shots.

Continuity: During the Itchy and Scratchy cartoon, things change about the positions of the cats, the clothing, etc.

Continuity: When Skinner is set free, while holding onto the vacuum, he changes position between shots.

Continuity: Bart's bruised eye has healed by the time he reaches Skinner's office to lick envelopes.

Other: When we first see the papers on top of Skinner, the jar of preserves is not visible anywhere. It is beside him in the next shot.

Continuity: When Skinner gets trapped under the papers, the jars on the shelves change color between shots.

Continuity: In the beginning, when Bart finds that the dog ate his homework, the poster on Bart's door has disappeared for one shot.

Continuity: When the mobsters enter Skinner's office, the phone on his desk changes position between shots. Also, the name bar on his desk doesn't read anything on it.

Continuity: There are three mistakes when court is dismissed: 1) the people standing around disappear, 2) the two men with Fat Tony disappear for one shot, and 3) when Bart says that crime doesn't pay, Marge is suddenly standing beside Bart.

Continuity: When Bart crashes at the door of the Legitimate Businessman's Social Club, his head is facing the door. You can only see this for several frames. In the next shot, his head is facing the sky.

Continuity: When Bart arrives home after his bad day, he is seen wearing his lucky red hat. It was never visible anywhere before he got home.

Continuity: When Homer is gambling with the gangsters, you can just barely see the shoulder of an ORANGE shirt that Bart is wearing, but in all other shots he is wearing his tuxedo.

Continuity: When the pile of newspapers fall on principal Skinner, two garbage cans appear out of nowhere beside the door.

Other: When the wheel falls off Bart's skateboard, in the shot where he curves left sharply, you don't see the school in the background. How could he be at the social club if he just left school?

Continuity: When Bart finds out that Homer took the police badge out of the cereal box, it changes from brown to pink. The food inside the box also changes to pink.

Continuity: Bart's drawing of Principal Skinner is gone when Mrs. Krabappel says that he is missing.

Other: When Bart realizes he forgot his permission slip, the camera shows us that the paper is half-under his pillow. However, when he got out of his bed at the very beginning, the paper wasn't under his pillow.

Continuity: Bart puts his lucky red hat on the hat holder. It disappears in the next shot.

Other: At recess, Bart splits his pants in front of the girls. This split isn't visible in any other part of the episode.

Other: When we see Skinner's car before the newspapers fall on him, it is a light-brownish color. When the police arrive, it is the same color as the cop cars.

Other: In the beginning, Bart's bedroom's window faces the backyard. When the bus leaves, it faces Evergreen Terrace. At the beginning of Bart's nightmare, it faces the backyard again.

Continuity: When the newspapers fall on Skinner, the rake in the corner has turned into a shovel.

Other: When Bart sees that Santa's Little Helper ate his homework, and the camera moves really fast, you can see that the Krusty Doll and picture frame have vanished from the desk beside his bed.

Continuity: At the beginning, if you watch the clock as Homer walks in, the time changes between shots.

Continuity: When Smithers makes Mr. Burns his Wine Spritzer, Burns makes Homer Employee of the Month. While Smithers is pouring the stuff in the bottle, his left hand turns black for three frames.

Continuity: Marge tells Bart not feed Maggie the Monopoly houses. Bart shows the box and says that there's enough of them. The shot later, the box has disappeared.

Revealing: If you look carefully in Mr. Burns' surveillance cameras, the workers are identical.

Continuity: At the beginning, when the bus is driving to the school, the streetlights outside disappear/reappear between shots.

Other: When Otto announces about Milhouse's party, 1, Martin is sitting two seats ahead of Bart and Milhouse, even though he was just talking to them, and 2, Sherri and Terri are nowhere to be seen.
