The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show - S8-E14
Corrected entry: When Itchy shoots the apple through the arrow at Scratchy's head, it punctures a vat of carbolic acid which spills onto Scratchy, turning him into a skeleton. Carbolic acid, or phenol, is poisonous but not corrosive.
Correction: Bear in mind that this is the episode in which nerds are mocked for nitpicking cartoons.
Corrected entry: At the start when Homer leaves with Bart, Patty and Selma have their hands in their laps. As soon as they start speaking however their arms are crossed in front of their chests. (00:01:50)
I, (Annoyed Grunt)-bot - S15-E9
Corrected entry: Why did Lisa call her new cat Snowball V? There wasn't a Snowball IV, and Lisa kept Coltrane's name the same.
Correction: The cat may be named this because it is the 5th cat. If it was called Snowball IV, then Lisa may have forgotten about Coltrane.
Corrected entry: When Homer goes to another bar we hear him say "Ah, my new watering hole." His mouth doesn't move. (00:17:10)
Corrected entry: When Homer goes to the barbecue, he grabs a plate of burgers. There isn't a burger at the top of the pile. However, when Flanders talks to him there is a burger on the top.
Corrected entry: When Bart first writes 'Treasure Island' on the board he has written it on two lines, the 'Treasure' is above the 'Island'. But after a couple of shots we see the blackboard again and the two words are next to each other.
Correction: The word "Treasure" is written above "Island" in all shots of the blackboard.
Missionary: Impossible - S11-E15
Continuity mistake: This mistake happens twice in the episode. At first, when Homer arrives on the island, he gives the islanders some bibles and says "Knock yourself out." Ack says that they cannot read. Yet later when Homer is revealing the casino, Ack reads "The Lucky Savage-?"
Suggested correction: Homer had been there for a while when the casino had finished construction. He could have taught Ack to read.
Corrected entry: When Lisa mocks Bart in French, she sings, "Vous ĂȘtes Baby Stinkbreath." However, "Vous ĂȘtes" is the formal construction. A person would not use this when speaking to his or her brother, especially when deliberately being disrespectful towards him. "Tu es," the informal form, would be more appropriate.
Correction: Lisa may still be learning, and it's an easy mistake to make.
Corrected entry: The Narrator of this episode, in describing The Simpsons, says "THIS NORTHERN KENTUCKY FAMILY." This is the only time that they have ever TOLD viewers where they live. It is at the very end of the episode while they are sitting on the hillside.
Correction: This is actually talking to the Simpson family as ACTORS, not as the characters they play. The family in "real" life may be from Northern Kentucky, but the characters they portray could be from anywhere.
Correction: It's been dismissed as a fake. They don't actually live in Northern Kentucky (they could, but we have no concrete evidence). To add to the mystery, the subtitles say Southern Missourian family.
Continuity mistake: When Homer laughs at Patty and Selma, for a few frames you can see that the beer can he was holding is gone. It stays beside the phone for the rest of the scene. (00:07:00)
Suggested correction: When Homer is laughing at Patty and Selma he never has the beer can in his hand. He has a drink then the camera cuts to Marge talking about Patty and Selma, Marge then walks out of the shot, and we get a close up of Patty and Selma. The shot then changes to Homer who starts laughing. Enough time to put the can down.
Other mistake: When Lisa checks Marge's resume, she reads it and turns it over. But there is no text on the back as there should be. (00:06:30)
Bart's Friend Falls in Love - S3-E23
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode when Bart runs away from Homer, Homer starts rolling down the stairs. The banister disappears between shots. After Homer gets to the bottom the banister reappears. (00:01:40)
Continuity mistake: At the bar, we see Mrs. Krabappel, and she disappears for the rest of the scene. (00:13:40)
Continuity mistake: Homer drives to Moe's Tavern with his normal shirt on. He has his green jacket on top of it in the next shot. (00:04:45)
Continuity mistake: In the new opening sequence, Kearney and Dolph cut off Jebbidah's head. But in the pan of the city, the head is back.
Character mistake: When Homer discovers that the Leftorium is going out of business, there is a sign that says 'Coming Soon: Gum for Less' beside the store. Later on, though, Ned says the new store is becoming 'Libertarian Party Headquarters.' (00:15:50 - 00:19:15)
Suggested correction: The sign is just an advertising poster that's on a wall. It's not in front of the leftorium.
Continuity mistake: There are three mistakes when court is dismissed: 1) the people standing around disappear, 2) the two men with Fat Tony disappear for one shot, and 3) when Bart says that crime doesn't pay, Marge is suddenly standing beside Bart. (00:20:35)
Suggested correction: There are also 3 corrections here. 1) the only people standing near the bench are Lionel Hutz and Seymour Skinner. Seymour is simply out of shot and Hutz is on screen. 2) Legs and Louie don't disappear they remain standing on the steps but due to the camera angle that is now looking across the steps rather than up the steps so they are out of shot. 3) There is a close up of Bart and Fat Tony long enough for Marge to walk over.
Continuity mistake: When Skinner is set free, while holding onto the vacuum, he changes position between shots. (00:20:15)
Other mistake: When the wheel falls off Bart's skateboard, in the shot where he curves left sharply, you don't see the school in the background. How could he be at the social club if he just left school? (00:05:20)
Continuity mistake: When Bart finds out that Homer took the police badge out of the cereal box, it changes from brown to pink. The food inside the box also changes to pink. (00:01:10)
Correction: An Itchy and Scratchy cartoon is entrely exempt from having to follow the rules of reality. OR, you could argue that since within the Simpson's universe the writers of Itchy & Scratchy have always been shown to be pompous and unimaginative college boys that don't do their research.
