Mistakes

During the opening credits of the show, Frasier and Roz are in Cafe Nervosa. Frasier has a fabric shopping bag, and in some shots you can see the leaves of one vegetable and in other shots you can see the leaves of two vegetables. Trivia

During the show's eleven year run, there have been many celebrities who voiced the callers on Frasier's radio talk show, but are uncredited; most phoned in their lines, instead of recording at the studio. On the DVDs, the list of each season's celebrity phone voices are noted after the season finale. Some celebrities included: Mary Tyler Moore, as Marjorie, who couldn't confront her boss; Christopher Reeve, as Leonard, an agoraphobic who was afraid of wide open spaces; Matthew Broderick, as Mark, who liked to see himself on stores' video cameras; Elijah Wood, as Ethan, who got beaten up at school for being smart, and then insulted Frasier's answer; Ben Stiller, as Barry, who couldn't stop crying long enough to even talk about his problem; Ron Howard, as Stephen, who heard people talking to him through his radio; Carrie Fisher, as Phyllis, who had insomnia (Frasier fell asleep while on air, before he heard her problem) and Frasier advised, "Things will look better in the light of day, my advice is to sleep on it."; real-life husband/wife Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas, as the married couple Larry and Sophie, who wanted a few of her girlfriends to come over on Super Bowl Sunday, but Larry refused unless Frasier was actually able to answer a football question on air; and many other enjoyable ones. Semi-Decent Proposal (series 8)

When Frasier first meets Claire, they have a flirtatious exchange speaking German. This contradicts the episode in Season 2 when Frasier discovers that Maris might be having an affair with her new Bavarian fencing instructor; in that one, he can't speak German. [First of all Frasier could speak German in that episode. It's made very clear he could because when Niles goes to speak with the trainer he gets Frasier to translate for him. Even if he didn't, there has been six seasons worth of episodes between those two episodes. You don't think it's possible he learned a bit of German during that time?]

Motor Skills (series 8)

Roz acquires a Dalmatian puppy which is constantly referred to as a "he" even though it is a she. Roz even names it "Ariel" which Marty scoffs at as a girl's name. Later in the season the dog appears again, having grown quite a bit, but while it may not be the same dog, it is still a female, and is still referred to as "he". [Having numerous cats and dogs over the years I can tell you its very easy to mistake the animals gender at times simply because gender is not as big an issue with pets. A friend of mine had a female dog called Harry who looked more male. I still referred to the dog as a "he" many times despite it being a female dog.]

And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon (2) (series 8)

Mel is speaking to Niles at their fake engagement party & she refers to Daphne as his Cockney tart, or something similar. Saying Cockney would imply Daphne was from the South of England, more specifically, London. We know this to be untrue as it has been mentioned in numerous other episodes that Daphne is in fact from Manchester, in the Northwest of England. Daphne also has an obvious, and typical, Northern English accent. So for Mel to call her Cockney was inaccurate. On the same theme, the character Simon, Daphne's brother, has an accent that is the complete opposite to Daphne's. He could be called a Cockney and has a strong, but fake, Southern twang. Logically, if the two of them grew up together & he still lives in Manchester (which is established in an episode) there would be no way that he would suddenly pick up a Cockney accent, even if he had lived in the South for a time. Your true accent always comes out when you go home, so to be true to life, Simon should have spoke with a Northern accent. You would think that the casting execs would have seen this pretty glaring error even though it is an American show. It's probably more obvious (and annoying) for British viewers but it's still a mistake none the less. [A) For Mel to call Daphne a cockney is a character mistake on Mel's part, and she never claimed to be an expert on British dialects, so it's not so hard to believe that she screwed up there. B) The part about Simon's dialect has already been submitted and corrected. He could have lived in the south for a long time, and then decided to keep that dialect when he moved back to Manchester. To say that "Your true accent always comes out when you go home" makes no sense, it depends on how he wanted to speak, and what he considers "home".]

Mother Load (1) (series 9)

When the American flag appears, Daphne has her arm around her mother's shoulder. In the next shot, when Niles says "How did you do that?", Daphne's hands are in her lap. [If you look close during the wide shot, Daphne has her arm around her mother while Frasier is talking, but then takes it and places it in her lap as the flag drops. Then we cut to the close-up with her hands in her lap - no continuity error there.]

Rooms With a View (2) (series 10)

Before Niles is taken to the OR Roz says "24 hours ago we didn't even know anything was wrong with Niles". Yet his room is filled with flowers and cards and Maris has had time to find out through the gossiper Jaime. It seems a little unlikely if less than 24 hours had passed. [There is an old saying that goes "Gossip spreads like wildfire." This is very true, so it is very possible the Maris found out within a day.]

Goodnight, Seattle (2) (series 11)

(for the final episode, "Goodnight Seattle"). Daphne and Niles have a son. But in "Rooms with a View" we were shown their future and they had two daughters. [This occurred before Daphne was Pregnant. She could have merely imagined her and Niles having two daughters. For the record, they conceived some time after Niles' operation.]

And Frasier Makes Three (series 11)

In a previous episode when Frasier confronts Charlotte over his bad dates they have a long discussion about how she has moved back to Seattle because of a divorce and is living with her "crazy assed mother", yet in this episode we see Charlotte's apartment where there is no sign of her mother and only one bed. [We only see one bed because we only see one bedroom. And is it so hard to believe that her mother was in another room or out somewhere?]

Match Game (series 11)

The younger girl that Frasier goes on a date with has to be 20 years old or younger, since she mentions that cops took a fake ID from her (she wouldn't need a fake one if she were 21). Isn't it unlikely that someone that age would have been able to pay the $10,000 fee for Charlotte's dating service? [Unlikely maybe, but that does not make it a mistake. She could have inherited it, maybe it was a payoff from an insurance policy or maybe she just has a really good job.]

Sea Bee Jeebies (series 11)

When Roz's sister Denise comes into Nervosa, she greets Frasier by name, yet in an earlier series, Frasier first met her while pretending to be Roz's then boyfriend Roger. [Roz almost certainly fessed up to her sister in the interim, especially since she works with Frasier.]

Maris Returns (1) (series 11)

In the season 11 episode "Maris Returns" (episode 7), Frasier complains about his Stockholm Chair and says that the instruction booklet alone would account for the high Swedish suicide rate. Sweden has one of the lowest suicide rates in Europe. [No, it doesn't. With a suicide rate of 17.7 per 100,000 people, Sweden is about middle of the deck - certainly not 'one of the lowest'. See Worldwide Suicide Rates. Besides, Niles is making a joke based on a common urban myth, so it isn't even a character mistake.]

I'm Listening (series 11)

Frasier is with Niles at Cafe Nervosa, and he is telling him that he overheard Ronee make a date with Richard. Niles then argues that he wants no part of this issue and Frasier says, "You can't outscramble an egg" - when he should have say "unscramble". He was referring to Niles going back and undoing something already done. One could argue that we misspeak in real life, but this is a performance, not real life and it is a mistake of the performer (or the writers). [Real life or not, its a character mistake at best.]
