Visible crew/equipment: In the first episode, 'The End' when Lister is telling his door to lock so he can get his cat out you can see the hand of a member of the crew pushing the door shut (look out the window). (Time)

Visible crew/equipment: In the first episode, 'The End' when Lister is telling his door to lock so he can get his cat out you can see the hand of a member of the crew pushing the door shut (look out the window). (Time)
Continuity: At the start of the 'Welcome Back George McIntyre' reception scene, Lister, Chen and Selby are throwing things at Rimmer, then Rimmer looks around. In the next shot, Lister and Chen are looking round to their left, Selby is stabbing between his fingers, Rimmer is now looking straight forwards and Petersen has appeared from nowhere. Deliberate "mistake": In the first few series, it is suggested Lister and Kochanski barely know each other. In 'Balance of Power' Holly says that Lister has only ever spoken 173 words to her. However, by series 4 Kochanski is referred to as Lister's ex-girlfriend with whom he shared a relationship. In the series 4 documentary, Doug Naylor explains that Lister's attitude towards Kochanski was imature in the first series which is why they changed his back story from wanting to be with Kochanski to actually having been with her by series 4.
Continuity: The time that the events involving the crew of Red Dwarf keeps changing throughout the series. At various times, references are made to the date, which is stated as being in the 21st, 22nd or 23rd centuries. Examples: In 'Stasis Leak', the date reference is stated as being 2077 (21st century). But in 'Ouroboros', the date is stated as being 26th November 2155 (22nd century). Also in 'DNA', Lister says he is an enlightened 23rd century guy.
Visible crew/equipment: When the crew are in their sleeping quarters, and Rimmer is talking to the others, a blue boom mic can be seen hovering over his head (you can see this if you watch the dvd on your pc, as some tv's can cut off the edge of the picture) (Time)
Revealing: The first time you see Lister, the Cat, Kochanski and Kryten in the AR machine you can see the cat opening his eyes realising that it is not in the script, smiling and then closing his eyes. (Time)
Revealing: When the cat priest dies on the bed, watch him move his foot so Lister can sit on the edge. (Time)
Plot hole: In the episode 'Backwards' most of the things that happen on 'Backwards Earth' are correct, except, of course, in reverse. But there is an exception: in the scene in the Cafe, when the waitress comes to 'dirty' the table, she tips a box of trash on the table. If you play this scene backwards, the trash leaps from the table into the box. Even on a 'backwards earth' I can't believe that trash spontaneously leaps about... (Time)
Continuity: Kryten needs to ask what a pub is, yet in the episode "Backwards" he and Rimmer worked in one for three weeks as the comedy act "The Sensational Reverse Brothers", and, later, were involved in a brawl in the same pub. Originally, the episodes were to be shown in a different order, which explains why the mistake occurs, but doesn't excuse it. (Time)
Continuity: When Lister and Rimmer see Cat just after Holly explains how he evolved, Rimmer runs at Cat screaming before he passes through him and we hear a crash off screen to indicate Rimmer has just run in to something. He is a hologram and is not solid, so no sound should be heard. [The original version did not have this mistake. The sound effect was added for the now defunct Remastered series.] (Time)
Visible crew/equipment: A wire/string pulling along the baby Skutters behind the parent Skutter is visible in the episode (Time)
