Jack Bauer: Do you understand the difference between dying for something and dying for nothing? The only reason I fought so hard to stay alive in China was because I didn't want to die for nothing. Today, I can die for something.

Season: Whole show  1  2  3  4  5  6  7  All

All of series 1 (season 1)

Mistake Factual error: While Drazen is a very common Serbian given name, it is not found as a surname in that form. The surname "Drazenovic" would be fairly common, but not simply "Drazen". Even then, it would be pronounced "Drah-zhen" and not "Dray-zen" as everybody in the show does.

Mistake Factual error: At some point Jack tries to get a message to CTU about the fact that he is being held hostage. The enemy sees Jack writing and tells Jack to shred the message. I work in government security. Believe me, no government agency would have a simple shredder that just cuts the paper into strips. Required is a cross cut shredder that breaks the paper into almost a pulverized state.

12:00 Midnight-1:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 1)

Mistake Continuity: When Jack is on the phone with his wife as he is entering the CTU building, when you can see him in two different shots, he is holding the phone differently in each shot.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Kate is going into the furniture store, whilst the door is closing you can see the lighting equipment reflected off the door.

1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 2)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: Jack Bauer and his boss are in a building at night with a shooter hidden somewhere. They open a door and look very carefully to the right and then to the left before going through the door. On the right side you can briefly see two crew members and as the camera pulls forward they back up some so they won't be seen.

Mistake Continuity: When Jack is outside Dunlop Plaza, talking to Nina on the phone, he says, "Nina, it's Jack." But the transcript Tony looks at a few seconds later reads, "Nina, it's me, Jack."

Mistake Continuity: Shortly after the clock display reads 01:44, the time is shown again... and it's 01:42.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Teri Bauer and Alan York are cleaning up the mess in the furniture store, you can see a mic moving on the left side behind a plant (while the camera is near the floor).

2:00 A.M.-3:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 3)

Mistake Continuity: At about 2:15am, when Jack's talking to Nina about the passenger list on the plane, we see a shot of Jack in the top left, and Nina in the top right. Because it's real time they're both meant to match up - we're watching them both at the same time. In each shot we can see the back of the other's head, but while Jack is looking down and around in the left-hand shot, in the right-hand shot his head is staying perfectly still.

3:00 A.M.-4:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 4)

Mistake Continuity: When Jack drives to 18166 San Fernando Road he stops the car, gets out and leaves his phone in the car - you can see the green light of the phone's screen - he didn't reach for it. However, when Teri calls him, he has the phone in his pocket.

Mistake Continuity: The show claims to be in real time, and although those viewers who aren't too eagle-eyed will argue that it is, there is undisputed evidence in this episode that it isn't accurate. After the final ad break, the clock reads 03:52. At least two minutes later, when we see Teri and "Alan York" turn a corner in their car, the clock is displayed at the bottom of the screen, and it is still 03:52. The same sort of thing happens earlier in the episode, when there is a good ten minutes or so between when the clock says 03:26 and when it says 03:30.

5:00 A.M.-6:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 6)

Mistake Continuity: During season one of 24, Jack answers his mobile to Gains and we see footage of Jack on a CCTV camera. The CCTV footage shows medical staff moving, yet when they cut back to the camera in the hall the medical staff are in different places, they keep changing places and keep disappearing and re-appearing and the CCTV footage is about two seconds ahead of the footage in the corridor.

Mistake Factual error: When Janet enters the operating theatre, the surgeons put some x-rays on the light box. The x-rays are from a barium enema, which would have no relevance to Janet's injuries.

Mistake Plot hole: Jacks talks into a cell phone when a helicopter lands in front of him - and the other side understands what he's saying. What a cell phone.

6:00 A.M.-7:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 7)

Mistake Continuity: When Senator Palmer is binding his tie in front of the mirror, he pulls the broad part of it completely through the loop of the tie around his neck. Than it cuts to a close-up and the broad part's part-way through the loop again.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When the guard surprises Rick and Kimberly in the shed, you can see an arm and parts of the camera at the left side right behind Rick when the guard leaves. (Widescreen DVD).

7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 8)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Nina's just been shot, and makes it to the barn to call CTU (around 7.10am), while she's speaking on the phone there's a cameraman visible on the right hand side (DVD).

Mistake Continuity: When Jack stops at the bus station to get a bag, we see a shot of Jacks car from the point of view of the guy who has the bag. You can see a quite big camera inside the car on the left side. When we see the reverse shot from inside of the car, the camera is gone.

8:00 A.M.-9:00 A.M. (season 1, episode 9)

Mistake Continuity: In the 08:00 - 09:00 episode on DVD (and during the previous few hours) you see Kim Bauer's feet and she is wearing sandals with no socks. At 08:36 when Terri has just been taken from the room where they are being held captive you see a shot of Kim sitting down and you can see that she is wearing pink leather slipper style shoes and black socks.

11:00 A.M.-12:00 Noon (season 1, episode 12)

Mistake Continuity: In the shot near the end where you see Jack's family running away from the van, Kim is wearing sneakers. But until now, making abstraction of the other continuity error a few episodes earlier, she was wearing sandals. It can be seen in another scene afterward.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Alberta is in holding room 2 with Tony, there is a camera visible to the left of the screen, behind Alberta. You can see it three times during their conversation.

Mistake Continuity: Mike Novick and Senator Palmer are outside the car at Dr Ferragamo's office building when his office explodes. As they get back in the car, you can see over the shoulder of whichever gets into the rear, passenger-side. There is no one in the driver's seat, but when Palmer says, "Let's go," the car moves off immediately.

12:00 Noon-1:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 13)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Jack, Kim and Teri are at the compound, Kim stands up shortly before Gaines first shot. On the left you see a crew member kneeling.

Mistake Continuity: When the CTU units arrive with the helicopter, they ask Teri to drop the weapon. She puts down the weapon, than it is a cut to a view from behind Teri and she still has the weapon in her hand, but is starting bend to put the weapon down.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where the CTU tactical team arrives at the 'lz', the chopper that first makes ground contact is marked "CTU-1", and offloads six federal agents in full tactical gear. Later in another shot of the same scene, you see "CTU-1" marked on a second chopper still circling in the air. It's clear this is not the same chopper as before, as we see the first "CTU-1" on the ground again moments later.

2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 15)

Mistake Continuity: In Episode 15 (Day 1), the pregnancy test that Teri takes to the bathroom is a "TrueBlue" (close up shot on it), but the one that Kim finds there is a "ClearBlue".

Mistake Continuity: At one point during Albert Green's debrief of Jack, the shot changes to a split screen. In the left box, Jack stands up from the table before he does in the right box.

3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 16)

Mistake Continuity: When Keith Palmer and Carl Webb meet they stop walking around to talk. When we see Carl's face, the sun is coming from behind him, the light shimmers through his hair and the light reflects on Keith's face. Than it cuts to a view from behind Carl, and there is suddenly no light, both stand in the shadow.

4:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 17)

Mistake Continuity: When Reed walks into the room for the telecast rehearsal, and heads toward the podium, the woman with the blonde ponytail stands both at the podium and behind him in these shots.

5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 18)

Mistake Factual error: At about 5:45pm, Teddy is viewing Jack through his rifle scope, but there are no cross hairs, nor any other reticles.

6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 19)

Mistake Continuity: The 6:00PM-7:00PM episode ends when it is still light outside. The 7:00PM-8:00PM Episode begins when it is completly dark (no sunset/dusk/twilight) The show is supposed to be in "real-time" but as the sun goes down it gradually gets darker, it does not just become dark from one second to the next.

7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 20)

Mistake Continuity: In the police station, Kim's right arm is handcuffed to the bench as we see the profile/ master shot of her and Rick, but in the next shot, (the medium/front), you can see that Kim's right arm is behind her now and not cuffed, as Rick is being cuffed to the bench. A few seconds later, we see her right arm is again handcuffed to the bench. Kim's right arm is seen moving around as she talks to Rick and the scene progresses. Her left arm is finally uncuffed when the detective goes to book her.

Mistake Continuity: When Jack is at the powerstation he checks his watch. It is 19:12:26, and it takes 1 min 57 seconds until we see the timer (yellow clock), which shows 19:13:47 and not 19:14:23 which it should be as the show is in real time. This is only a mistake if we consider agent Jack Bauer's watch as being accurate, but given how time-critical a lot of his work is, you wouldn't expect him to be casual about the time.

9:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. (season 1, episode 22)

Mistake Continuity: In the previous hour, Pattie has long straight hair down to her shoulders. We see this all the way through, even at the very end. Yet at the start of episode 22, when she is now at the party a mere 10 minutes later, her hair is very much shorter. There is no way she would be able to get ready for the party in that time, let alone have her hair cut.

11:00 P.M.-12:00 Midnight (season 1, episode 24)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: At around 11:30pm, just when Jack is preparing to take his first shots at the Drazen's as they are running towards the speedboat, you can see a cameraman/technician (wearing a face shield), and a TV monitor behind Jack's head.

Day 2: 11:00 A.M.-12:00 Noon (season 2, episode 4)

Mistake Continuity: In the long shot showing Kate and Reza driving down the highway, in the background of the passenger side, we can see a very tall wooden partition. However, the close shots of Kate talking shows a lush green background - suddenly there is no partition.

Day 2: 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. (season 2, episode 10)

Mistake Continuity: Marie Warner goes to see Reza at her father's office at about 5:30. When she enters the office, she puts her handbag on the table and embraces Reza. After they embrace she picks her handbag up from the floor next to Reza's chair. There was no time or opportunity for anyone to move her bag.

Mistake Plot hole: Kate Warner holds a bloody towel to her wounded earlobe. She puts it away and you can see a very clean band aid around the lobe.

Mistake Revealing: Right after Kim Bauer and Miguel start a fire in the police van, the vehicle swerves off the road and tumbles. In the next shot, you see "Kim" on top of the car, trying to get in through the window (the car is about to fall off a slope or something). Pay close attention, zoom in, or whatever, the woman is not Kim but is a stunt double. She's got a much chubbier-looking face and is definitely not Kim Bauer. This occurs at 19:40 in this episode.

Mistake Continuity: You see Nina lying on the ground with a knee of an soldier in her back and you hear handcuffs - but when he pulls her on her feet her left arm is free.

Day 2: 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. (season 2, episode 11)

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": When Jack and that FBI team are looking for Sied Ali in the mosque, Jack finds a burning body in another room. He is led to believe that it is Ali, because the body's clothes matched the description that Kate Warner had given him. It is obvious that the skin is badly burnt, yet the clothes are barely scorched.

Mistake Continuity: When Roger Stanton is about to be arrested, just before he stands up from his desk, we can see that the screen of his laptop is completely blue, however, while he is walking away with the army men, we can see the red ACCESS DENIED message on the screen on top of the blue background. No one touched the computer during that time.

Day 2: 7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. (season 2, episode 12)

Mistake Revealing: When Kate Warner phones her sister, Marie holds her phone up to the camera and you can see that the words "KATE'S CELL" have been written using the 'Write Messages' function on her Nokia. The 'abc' in the corner gives it away plus you can see the cursor trying to be hidden by being moved next to the 'K'

Day 2: 8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. (season 2, episode 13)

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": The blue and white airplane when the male terrorist tries to take off has the following registration: N34G5 This seems to be a deliberate mistake as only the following N registrations are officially possible: N plus one to five numbers (N12345) / N plus one to four numbers and one suffix letter (N1234Z) / N plus one to three numbers and two suffix letters (N123AZ).

Day 2: 11:00 P.M.-12:00 Midnight (season 2, episode 16)

Mistake Factual error: In German Television the clock at the end switches from 23:59:59 to 23:00:00

Mistake Factual error: At 18:50, Tony tells Jack that he's contacted someone at the San Jose Sheriff's Department. At 19:35 Jack calls and gets a response of "Sheriff's Department" on the line. There is no San Jose Sheriff's Department. It should have either been the San Jose Police Department or the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

Day 2: 12:00 Midnight-1:00 A.M. (season 2, episode 17)

Mistake Factual error: When Yousef uses his Nextel to call Jack he uses the bleep button on the Nextel. Yet when Jack gives the phone to Wallace it is a regular call and not the Nextel bleep.

Mistake Continuity: When Kate and Jack are escaping CTU the mirror breaks off one of the doors when the security guard tries to close the gate. Later on in the episode both of the mirrors are on the car.

Day 2: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. (season 2, episode 18)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In the gun battle just after Kate has shot the man there is a shot of Jack spinning and shooting in which you can see a cameraman filming the action to the right of the screen.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Jack is escaping with Yusef and Kate, the shadow of the camera crane is visible on the car.

Day 2: 2:00 A.M.-3:00 A.M. (season 2, episode 19)

Mistake Audio problem: When Tony tells Michelle that he told the president about the chip Jack found, they cut to a different angle, and Tony is still speaking, but his lips aren't moving.

Day 2: 5:00 A.M.-6:00 A.M. (season 2, episode 22)

Mistake Plot hole: When Kim sees Gary she runs into the master bedroom, hides her bags, goes into the closet and up to the attic - all in the time it takes Gary to run five yards to the bedroom door. And considering how much noise the attic door made he should have heard her. Plus, how did she manage to get the door hatch closed when she had gone up?

Day 2: 6:00 A.M.-7:00 A.M. (season 2, episode 23)

Mistake Revealing: After Kate Warner has picked up Kim Bauer, they are drving back to CTU in Kate's car. Unless I'm mistaken, when the car is shown, there is no number plate.

Mistake Other: When President Palmer is at District Headquarters, he addresses one of the workers as "Heather," but the character is credited as "Linda."

Mistake Continuity: When Kate Warner ascends the stairs in Kim Bauer bosses house, she holds her sunglasses in her left hand. When the camera changes she has sunglasses on her right hand and her left hand is empty.

Mistake Plot hole: When Kim is brought back to the police station for the last time, the officer explains to her that they now know it was Gary Matheson who killed his wife, and that they are still looking for him. Why then, would Kim and her police escort not even consider the possibility that he might be hiding at his home when they arrive to get Kim's belongings? Even if the police searched the house once before, you would have to be insane to allow a teenage girl to enter the home of a known murderer on the loose. Beyond that, Kim herself never seemed to consider the threat.

Mistake Revealing: When Michelle is in the van, waiting for the computer to finish analysing the conversation between Alex Hewitt and Sherry Palmer, the computer bleeps to says it has "heard" enough of the conversation to be able to recreate Hewitt's voice. How ever, it bleeps whilst Sherry is in the middle of talking. The computer should have made the noise about 15 seconds before.

Day 2: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. (season 2, episode 24)

Mistake Plot hole: Peter Kingsley is shot and killed by a man in a helicopter just as he is about to kill Jack. One might wonder how come Kingsley didn't hear the chopper approaching.

Mistake Continuity: During the showdown between Jack and Kingsley at the colloseum, the shadows made by the early morning sun change throughout the sequence. By the time the SWAT-team arrives, the sunlight comes from the other side entirely.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Jack and Sherry are running down the corridor, Jack is thrown against the wall. Look at the edge of the screen and you can see the camera that shot the last shot move.

Mistake Other: In the shootout at the stadium, several times when Jack fires a gun the sound of the gun firing is heard but it is obvious that the gun did NOT fire. Most noticeable when Jack fires the third shot at the man behind the wall and when he is struggling for the gun with the last guy who he beats up.

Mistake Audio problem: In the french-dubbed over version, in the last seconds of the episode, just after Palmer has fainted and the camera is zooming out and the sound is fading, you can just make out his secretary shouting "Help", in english.

All of series 3 (season 3)

Mistake Factual error: Invoking the 25th amendment cannot be done by vote. The members have to send in their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall then immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Mistake Other: Sometimes the characters refer to Operation Nightfall as taking place in Bosnia while other times it is referred to as taking place in Kosovo.

Day 3: 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. (season 3, episode 5)

Mistake Other: At about 5:36 Jack and Ramon are playing Russian Roulette. Right before Ramon nods to Jack indicating the bullet will be fired, we see a shot of the gun from behind revealing the next chamber to be empty. The trigger would need to be pulled two more times in order to fire the bullet.

Day 3: 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. (season 3, episode 6)

Mistake Continuity: When Chase calls Chappelle from his car, his mobile shows the date and time "Sep 4. 03 (Thu) 2.15pm" rather than the actual time 06:09, which is displayed seconds later on screen.

Day 3: 8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. (season 3, episode 8)

Mistake Revealing: Right when Jack and the prisoner are walking through what appears to be the gun room in the prison, you can see the guy who attacks them through the door. You can only see a small part of him but he is obviously waiting to enter the scene and attack.

Day 3: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. (season 3, episode 13)

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Alan Milliken has collapsed, his right arm is bent across his chin, while in the next shot, when Julia steps over him, his arm is above his head.

Mistake Continuity: When Jack leaves the cockpit he puts his gun away in a holster on his back. When he gets back to Nina and Chase he puts his gun away a second time.

Day 3: 2:00 A.M.-3:00 A.M. (season 3, episode 14)

Mistake Continuity: Chappelle shows Jack the security footage of him shooting Nina. He shoots her three times. He fires the gun with more of a gap between the gunshots on the footage than he did when we saw him kill her.

Day 3: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. (season 3, episode 19)

Mistake Plot hole: How did they manage to strip Jane of her clothes and get Kim out of her own and into Jane's in the very short amount of time they did it in?

Mistake Continuity: When Kim is working undercover, dressed up in Saunder's daughter's clothes, she comes out of the Ladies' toilets wearing brown trainers. As she sits down at the library computer, you see she is wearing her very high heeled shoes. A few seconds later, as she is walking between the library shelves, she is wearing brown trainers.

Mistake Plot hole: If Jane Saunders receives $10 000 from her father every month why would she need to work at a library to make her way through college?

Day 3: 8:00 A.M.-9:00 A.M. (season 3, episode 20)

Mistake Factual error: In the scene where Steven Saunders phones Tony Almeida to tell him Michelle Dessler has been captured, Steven tells Tony to open a "private web socket" to IP 257.211.16.5. Such an IP cannot exist, the maximum value for any single number in an IP is 255, anything higher like 257 is not defined. Real websites have been mentioned in the show before such as sylviaimports.com, making this reference a bit silly. Occurs at 39:38 in the episode.

Mistake Continuity: When Jane Saunders gets into the car to go to CTU she and Kim have switched clothes again. Though the top worn by Jane is not the same as the one she wore earlier, which Kim then used. It's similar but not identical.

Day 3: 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. (season 3, episode 21)

Mistake Continuity: When Tony locks down Tech One from his office, the CCTV screen he's watching shows the monitors in there displaying the "locked down" message moments before they actually change to the message in the next shot within Tech One.

Day 3: 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. (season 3, episode 22)

Mistake Continuity: During the hostage exchange, there is a shot of the black man waiting for Jane Saunders to walk to him, in the background we can just see a man stood behind a car door. However, in the wider shots and when Saunders jumps out of his car, the man is not there.

Day 3: 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. (season 3, episode 23)

Mistake Revealing: When Sherry is shot, the impact is visible on her shirt, but no gunshot wounds can be seen on her skin underneath, which can be seen as she falls to the ground.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Julie is pointing her gun at Sherry, to her rear in the top right part of the screen there is a black shiny wall panel. On this panel you can see man's reflection, who appears to be wearing headphones. His reflection is in the shot for several seconds.

Day 3: 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. (season 3, episode 24)

Mistake Continuity: In the teachers' lounge Jack tells Chase that the second floor is cleared. When he doesn't get an answer he realises something is wrong and runs down to the floor Chase is searching. After he's cut Chase's hand off he runs out into the hallway and into the lounge which is suddenly on the same floor Chase was on.

Mistake Other: Michelle tells the director that the car Jack is looking for is a light blue car. However, Chloe informs Jack that it is a light green car, and that is what is show in the chase scene.

Mistake Factual error: Chase gets into surgery way too quickly. Considering the time it would take for the paramedics to reach him, stabilise him, pack his hand in ice and bring him to the ER, and then for the doctors to get him ready for surgery, sedate him and actually start operating. There is no way they would have been able to do that in the amount of time they did.

Day 4: 8:00 A.M.-9:00 A.M. (season 4, episode 2)

Mistake Continuity: When Agent Lobell tries to stop a car from leaving the train station, the terrorist in the car shoots at him through a window, shattering it. When the camera cuts to a shot of Lobell falling to the ground, the window in the car is gone, but no fragments of it are on the car or the ground under it.

Day 4: 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 5)

Mistake Continuity: When the cop in the car reaches to his microphone, his right hand is empty. When he types into the keyboard one second later, he is suddenly holding a pen between his fingers.

Mistake Continuity: Debbie's gunshot wound travels up from her navel to right under her thorax within 40 seconds.

Mistake Plot hole: Jack's CTU-car arrives only 1 min 20 seconds later after he has asked for it. Remember the time he needed from the store to the roadblock in the previous episode. The CTU-car has to be K.I.T.T. with a enormous turbo boost.

Day 4: 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 6)

Mistake Continuity: Day Four: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. When Tariq and Behrooz are shown in split-screen digging Debbie's grave right after the commercial break (12:54:10 by the show's clock), Tariq's white t-shirt is covered in dirt. When the shot goes back to them a minute or so later, Tariq's t-shirt is much cleaner.

Day 4: 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 7)

Mistake Continuity: When we first see the map of the powerplants that are successfully shut down (green) all the plants in Minnesota are green. Towards the end, however, one of them is shown flashing red, meaning it has not been shut down.

Day 4: 2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 8)

Mistake Continuity: When James phones Jack, who is at Tony's house with Audrey, Jack says they are at "21408, Kipling, North Hollywood". Later, when Secret Service arrives to pick up Audrey, Jack walks outside the house, where we see the house number is actually 21048. The same can be seen earlier when Tony, Audrey and Jack first arrive at the house, but not as close-up.

Day 4: 3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 9)

Mistake Continuity: In the previous episode, when Jack and Tony try to stop the helicopter, they drive off the road and hit the front bumper and lose their front license plate. This is also visible in this episode as Jack and Tony wait for backup and when they drive off there is still no license plate, but about 8 minutes later, when they arrive, the license plate is back on. Since the show is in real time and they arrived in the exact time they said they would, they couldn't have stopped to get it fixed or anything.

Day 4: 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 12)

Mistake Plot hole: When Conlon searches for Paul in the dark he holds his gun and the flashlight in his crossed hands. You can see how the light of the flashlight brightens the side of the gun. But the cone of light on the wall is a full round circle.

Mistake Continuity: When Driscoll leaves CTU, Secretary Heller asks Tony to call Division to request a replacement. Moments later, Heller says he still wants to call District.

Mistake Plot hole: When Jack and Paul are at McLennan-Forrester, all the electronics stop working as the EMP is getting ready. The handheld radios used by the management team work just fine, however.

Day 4: 7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 13)

Mistake Character mistake: Near the start of the episode, Curtis asks how many square miles are affected by the blackout, and is told "approximately 8." A few minutes later, Sarah states that the blackout area is "everything within an 8 mile radius." These are vastly different amounts. An 8 mile radius would cover approximately 201 square miles.

Day 4: 9:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 15)

Mistake Plot hole: Dina Araz was executed at 8:57 PM. At 9:01 PM the terrorists have placed her body in the van, drive off with it, and abandoned it. Then someone had found the body, reported it in, and the information had gotten to CTU. All in the course of four minutes. That is impossible, no matter how fast the terrorists.

Mistake Factual error: The bad guy uses the thumb to access the Air Force base at the end of the episode. Thumb scanners are activated by the pulse and wouldn't work otherwise.

Mistake Continuity: Chloe tells Michelle that she's confirmed Marwan's identity using voice tags from McLennan Forrester, but all of the computer records at MF were wiped out a few episodes earlier by the EMP, according to both the MF employees and CTU. The fact that they didn't get any information from the company except for the printouts Jack and Paul extracted was a major plot point a few hours ago, so even if a real EMP wouldn't do this, the fact that it's stated repeatedly in the show means it should hold true within the series; Chloe suddenly having information from them an hour or so later is discontinuous, and thus a mistake.

Day 4: 10:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. (season 4, episode 16)

Mistake Character mistake: 23rd minute. Jack meets the female assassin in Anderson's apartment. She demands that he show his credentials. Jack says he's with CTU on a provisional basis and therefore he has no badge. The agent that came with Jack confirms that. Yet, in the 13th episode (minute 14) when he enters the sports shop with Audrey's husband, he shows his CTU badge to the owners in order to prove that he in fact is a federal agent.

Day 4: 11:00 P.M.-12:00 A.M. (season 4, episode 17)

Mistake Continuity: When Jason and his wife are trying to escape from Marwan, they run through a corridor filled with water puddles. A few seconds later, one of Marwan's men goes through the same corridor to follow them, but none of the puddles had any ripples, which they should have considering the amount of water and time elapsed.

Mistake Continuity: When Jack gets out of the helicopter near the reserve power station, he slams the helicopter door, but it immediately bounces back open. In the next shot its closed.

Day 4: 12:00 A.M.-1:00 A.M. (season 4, episode 18)

Mistake Factual error: In the opening scene of the episode, Marwan gives a cohort Lat/Long coordinates for a nuclear missile. The computer shows these coordinates as being in the Midwest, they are actually in Nevada. (37 14' N 115 21' W).

Mistake Continuity: To get crucial information from Prado, Jack offers his resignation to Buchanan, and takes Prado on as a private citizen. But Jack doesn't work for CTU; he works for DOD, and is at CTU on a provisional basis.

Day 4: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. (season 4, episode 19)

Mistake Plot hole: At 01:50 am, Chloe is told to go to Sabir's house. She arrives there approximately 5 minutes later, at 01:55:45. At 01:58, Jack is told that the closest tactics team is 15 minutes away from Sabir's residence. A few moments later, Jack mentions that the tactical team is 10 minutes apart from Chloe, meaning they bothered to send the team over there even though any officer currently at CTU HQ, including Jack, could get over there a lot sooner.

Day 4: 4:00 A.M.-5:00 A.M. (season 4, episode 22)

Mistake Other: After Michelle and Tony kiss, he goes away and she says 'Tony, be careful'. In the next episode in the "previously on 24" section Michelle whispers it to his ear.

Day 4: 5:00 A.M.-6:00 A.M. (season 4, episode 23)

Mistake Continuity: In the first scene where we see Tony as a hostage, Mandy comes over to him and he has a white gag in his mouth, which is taut. Mandy says, "Is she gonna do the same for you?" and the camera cuts back to Tony, whose gag is now limp on both sides.

Day 4: 6:00 A.M.-7:00 A.M. (season 4, episode 24)

Mistake Plot hole: Jack and Tony are supposed to be in the CTU locker room. So why does the room have glass walls? No point in having a locker room to change in if everyone can see you anyway.

Day 5: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. (season 5, episode 1)

Mistake Continuity: Season 5 Episode 1 Hour 07:00 A.M. The bad guy goes for Chloe and starts running at full speed close to the door (15 steps?) at 00:17:24. After 9 seconds "running," he barely is at the door.

Day 5: 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. (season 5, episode 3)

Mistake Continuity: During Episode 3 of Season 5, the terrorists take Derek in front of live television. When the terrorists force him on his knees, you can see a splatter of blood on the floor from the body of the last victim that was shot there. As time is running out, another shot of Derek being held by the terrorists is shown, and the mere splatter of blood that had been near his knees is now a noticeably big pool of blood. Nobody has harmed Derek yet, and there are no signs that he is bleeding. So where did all that blood come from?

Day 5: 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. (season 5, episode 5)

Mistake Factual error: When Mrs. Logan escapes, Aaron Pierce refers to her as "the First Lady" over his radio. The Secret Service has code names for each of the members of the president's family. He should have used her code name when communicating to other Secret Service agents about her.

Mistake Continuity: Season five, 5th hour. Lynn knows about the four people who knew Jack was still alive, he mentions their names and talks to Jack about it. Yet when they are told Tony wants to speak with Jack, Lynn looks completely puzzled and Jack tells him that he knew Tony. Minutes earlier Lynn already knew that.

Mistake Plot hole: Season five, 5th hour. Martha Logan explained to Evelyn about the transcript and hid it in her bra in front of her. Yet when Mrs. Logan later tells her husband about it Evelyn doesn't seem to have any idea what she is talking about. While it can be considered a character choice for Evelyn not to speak up there is no reason at all why Martha, who is so desperate for her husband to believe her, doesn't ask Evelyn to verify it.

Day 5: 12:00 P.M.-1:00 P.M. (season 5, episode 6)

Mistake Continuity: Season Five, 6th episode. When Audrey is named Jack's contact person there is a shot of her where she isn't wearing glasses. There is a brief shot of Buchannan and McGill leaving the room and then another shot of Audrey. All of a sudden she is wearing glasses. She could not have gotten them out and put them on in the very short shot of the two men leaving the room.

Day 5: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (season 5, episode 7)

Mistake Continuity: In the "Previously on." montage, Ivan Erwich tells Walt Cummings "Your country is about to pay a very steep price for betraying us." But at the end of the previous episode, Erwich never says "for betraying us."

Mistake Continuity: When Spenser tells Jack that someone else is in Rossler's penthouse, he says "In the bedroom to your right," but Jack then glances to his left.

Day 5: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM (season 5, episode 9)

Mistake Character mistake: At 3:10, James Nathanson tells Jack to meet him in ten minutes, or Jack's lead to the nerve gas will disappear. When Jack arrives at the rendezvous point twenty minutes later, at 3:30, Nathanson is still waiting.

Day 5: 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM (season 5, episode 14)

Mistake Other: When Jack enters the empty hotel room of Colette and Theo, a chair is rolling across the floor to the right of the screen.

Day 5: 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM (season 5, episode 15)

Mistake Continuity: Season 5 - 9pm-10pm, at 9:41pm. - Technical weapon error. When Jack takes the Federal Marshal's' Glock pistol, in an effort to add drama, he holds the pistol in his right hand and cocks it with his left hand by grabbing the slide, pulling it back, and releasing it to chamber another round. However, after he does this, the camera zooms in on the gun as it is pointed at Colette's' head and you can see that the slide is still back on the gun and NOT capable of firing at all.

Day 5: 3:00 AM - 4:00 AM (season 5, episode 21)

Mistake Audio problem: In the scene where the President Logan is in his office and planning to take his own life, he gets a phone call from CTU's Miles Papazian. When President Logan answers the intercom, his voice sounds like he is the one talking through the intercom, eventhough the camera stays on President Logan. After answering the intercom, his voice changes back to normal.

Day 5: 5:00 AM - 6:00 AM (season 5, episode 23)

Mistake Plot hole: When Henderson tries to kill Jack, he learns his gun is empty. While Jack obviously doesn't trust Henderson with a loaded weapon, Henderson is an experienced field agent and he would know to check both the clip and the chamber when Jack gave him the gun. It's not just a character mistake, because it is explicitly said that the pair don't trust each other; thus, it is out of character for Henderson to simply accept that Jack has handed him a loaded weapon.

Day 6: 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM (season 6, episode 1)

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": In this episode Jack is tortured by stabbing a nerve then having acid thrown on it. Yet in the next episode when he is chasing the bomber he is perfectly fine.

Day 6: 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM (season 6, episode 2)

Mistake Other: At 7:45 Ahmed leads Scott out of his house at gunpoint so he can go to Scott's house. At 8:14 they arrive. But Scott's house is just across the street so we're supposed to believe that it takes half an hour to cross the street.

Day 6: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM (season 6, episode 3)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Jack gets into the black SUV with Curtis, as they pull away two crewmembers are visible in the reflection on the side of the vehicle.

Mistake Continuity: When Jack slams his carjacked SUV into the terrorist's car, only its driver's side door acquires damage, but when it cuts to a close-up the car also has substantial damage over the front tire.

Day 6: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM (season 6, episode 4)

Mistake Revealing: Just before Curtis is shot by Jack, Roger Cross flinches before the sound of the gunshot.

Day 6: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (season 6, episode 9)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Jack and Marilyn's car pulls up to 9407 Hindry Place, with the tactical van behind them, the filming crew's vehicle's license plate, beginning with 9DGE, is reflected on the car's windshield.

Mistake Continuity: When Milo begins to drive the tactical van with Marilyn, the driver's side door acquires significant damage, but when being shot at a moment later, the door is undamaged.

Day 6: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (season 6, episode 13)

Mistake Continuity: When Logan walks into Martha's bungalow, there is a deliberate close-up of the photograph with Martha and Anya, in a narrow goldtone frame. Oddly, in following shots, that photo is in a wide width, white frame. Additionally, the arrangement of all the frames on that table changes quite a bit as well.

Mistake Continuity: When Martha stabs Logan in the first shot, she drops the two plates she holds in her left hand. Next shot, facing Logan, the two plates are still in her hand.

Day 6: 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM (season 6, episode 20)

Mistake Continuity: When Doyle puts Jack in the holding cell and handcuffs him, the cuff's double bar faces up on his right wrist, but when Doyle uncuffs him shortly after, the single bar faces up.

Mistake Continuity: In season four James Heller told Erin Driscoll that his wife, Audrey's mother, was named Susan. In this episode her name is Alicia.

Day 7: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM (season 7, episode 1)

Mistake Character mistake: When Ethan Kanin tells president Taylor that Henry has managed to convince Kevin Aldridge to hold off on his report about the Sangalan invasion, he accidentally refers to the reporter as "Henry Aldridge."

Mistake Continuity: When Alan Tanner shoots Gabriel Schector, three shots are fired, but four bullet holes are visible in the window.

Day 7: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM (season 7, episode 2)

Mistake Character mistake: Larry Moss says that there are three dead bodies at Gabriel Schector's office, but there are only two: Schector and his bodyguard Ari.

Mistake Continuity: In the "previously on 24" recap, Jack tells Renee Walker "the Department of Justice is about to file criminal charges against me." But in that scene in the previous episode, he used the departmental abbreviation "DOJ".

Day 7: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (season 7, episode 7)

Mistake Revealing: Samantha Roth's dead body is obviously played by a body double.

Day 7: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM (season 7, episode 9)

Mistake Revealing: When Renee says she couldn't get the laptop to boot up due to a fried hard drive, the Windows desktop is visible on it, which meant that the laptop did boot up.

Mistake Other: When Morris drops Chloe off at the FBI, he asks if she's sure she doesn't need his help. In the subtitles, Morris' name is incorrectly displayed as "Miles".

Day 7: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM (season 7, episode 10)

Mistake Audio problem: When Dubaku sees Jack and Renee closing in on his car, he tells his driver "Go! Go!", but his mouth doesn't move.

Mistake Revealing: Chloe says that the drive containing all of Dubaku's corrupt U.S. contacts is a PX-17 drive, but in the closeup of the drive, it reads "PX-3".

Day 7: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM (season 7, episode 12)

Mistake Continuity: In the split screen of General Juma talking to Jonas Hodges on the sat phone, Juma's jacket sleeve covers his watch in the left box, but not in the right one.

Day 7: 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM (season 7, episode 16)

Mistake Plot hole: The director of CDC informs the cabinet that the biological weapon at hand is a "prion variant indigenous to the East Congo" and refers to it as a "strain". A prion is a protein, not a bacterium, so it cannot be indigenous to a certain place and cannot belong to any strain. More importantly, prion diseases are not known to be transmissible in an airborne fashion (Mad Cow and Kuru, also prion diseases, are transmitted by ingestion), which kinda takes the air out of the threat. However, the description of prion disease symptoms and the example of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease as being caused by prions are accurate.

Mistake Continuity: When president Taylor asks Olivia to be her acting Chief of Staff, Allison rests her head on her hand, with only her elbow on the couch. In the next shot, her arm is suddenly resting on the couch instead. There's a straight cut between the two shots, so she didn't have time to move.

Day 7: 12:00 AM - 1:00 AM (season 7, episode 17)

Mistake Plot hole: Jack is informed that experimental treatment using stem cells from a genetically compatible donor is being developed that might be able to cure his condition. Stem cells are used to treat diseases where a cell type in the patient's body malfunctions, such as insulin-producing beta cells in diabetes, or where injury has killed cells that do not regenerate, such as in spinal cord injury. In these cases stem cells can replace the damaged cells and make sense as therapy (bone marrow transplant as leukemia treatment is one real such treatment). Prions (which is what the show calls the bioagent) and bacteria (which is how the show describes the bioagent) cannot be cured by stem cells, since the cause of the disease is not damaged or defective cells. Even if the disease damaged brain cells and stem cells cured that, it would resume later since the causative agent is still there.

Day 7: 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM (season 7, episode 23)

Mistake Factual error: The head scientist tells Tony that the pathogen can survive 2 hours and longer after to host's death. Assuming it is either virus or prion (a protein), it wouldn't be alive to begin with and could effectively remain in Jack's body indefinitely.
