3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. (series 1)

Entry This is a very strange observation that I made of the scene where George enters Jack's office as he's changing. Just after George says he's in charge, Jack jokingly says, "So they thought you'd do a better job keeping an eye on me than Alberta would." Just at that moment, he kicks a shoebox out of his way, and the sound it makes sounds exactly like a rimshot of a drum, unintentionally making a mockery of the joke he just made.

9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. (series 1)

Entry Alberta Green, who makes her first appearance in this episode, was named for actress Alberta Watson, whom series creator Joel Surnow originally wanted to play the role. Ironically, Watson played Erin Driscoll, a character that is by-the-book, much like Green is, in Season 4.

Entry During production, Dennis Haysbert was shuttling back and forth between Los Angeles and the East coast, because he was filming "Far From Heaven" at the same time.
Entry Both Sarah Clarke and Xander Berkeley have played turncoat government agents assisting terrorists attempting to assassinate the President. Clarke on 24, and Berkeley in the film Air Force One, when the President interferes with the terrorists' insidious plan. Ironically, the pair began dating during season one, and by season two, they were married.
Entry We get the impression from the first few episodes that Nina is trustworthy only to find out in the last 2 episodes that she was the main mole inside CTU. It's funny though that it was in front of our eyes the whole time, by accident or design: Every time that Jack says his famous starting monologue, when he comes to the part "...and people I work with might be involved in both..." we see Jack looking at Nina.
Entry Jack's opening monologue changed subtly as the season moved on. It began, "Right now, terrorists are plotting to assassinate a presidential candidate, and my teenage daughter is missing." It then became, "...and my teenage daughter has been kidnapped," then "...my wife and daughter have been kidnapped," then, "...my wife and daughter are in danger," and finally, "...my wife and daughter have been targeted."
Entry The fabled 'bunny' who appears silhouetted in a scene in season 1 appears many times, according to this interview with Elisha Cuthbert: http://www.homunculus.com/articles/cuthbertelisha/cuthbertfhm0210.html
Entry During this season, the computers used by the villains are all PCs, while all the computers used by the good guys are Macs.
Entry After coming up with the concept of a story taking place in real time over the course of one day, Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran originally planned on the show being about the 24 hours leading up to a wedding. After realizing that it would be difficult to think of reasons for a bride and groom to be forced to stay awake for 24 straight hours, they decided that the show could instead be about a federal agent being forced to protect a politician from assassination for 24 hours - which became the plot of season 1 and the basis for the show.

Day 2: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. (series 2)

Entry The final scene of this episode was filmed with a "false beat" ending that showed Palmer standing up again straight after Mandy's attack and getting back into his limo. This was done to stop anyone other than the those who needed to, knowing the ending of the series before it was aired.

Day 2: 11:00 P.M.-12:00 Midnight (series 2)

Entry At the end of the episode Jack takes Kate out of CTU. When Tony tries to stop them, Jack throws him to the floor and he falls badly on his ankle. Tony spends the rest of the series on crutches. The reason for this is that Carlos Bernard who plays Tony broke his ankle playing basketball so the writers had to alter the script to take this into account.

Day 2: 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. (series 2)

Entry Fans have long speculated what Jack whispers to Nina in this episode. According to Kiefer Sutherland the scripted line was "I am going to hunt you down for as long as you live" but what he actually whispered was "I love you Sarah, why did you marry Xander?" Sarah is the name of the actress playing Nina and she is married to Xander Berkley who played George Mason. Apparently Sutherland whispered this to get a more interesting reaction from Nina.

Entry Episode 19 - Series 3. The website for Sylvia Imports which David Palmer must use to provide Stephen Saunders with a list of the 42 overseas agents actually exists. On it is written: "Sylviaimports.com - A Big Thank-you from the crew of 24. Thanks for watching, we love making it for you, and yes, we did get picked up for Season 4."

Day 3: 11:00 P.M.-12:00 A.M. (series 3)

All of series 5 (series 5)

Entry Peter Weller, Paul McCrane, and Ray Wise all appeared together in the film RoboCop. Kurtwood Smith, who played that film's villain, is currently a (special) guest star in season 7.
Entry Sean Astin was cast as Lynn McGill after he learned he and Joel Surnow shared the same chiropractor; they both happened to be visiting the office at the same time, so the doctor asked Astin if he would like to meet Surnow, who in turn asked if was interested in appearing on the show.

Day 6: 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM (series 6)

Entry Wayne Palmer was the first president who was actually seen in the Oval Office during his term in office.
Entry On the DVD, the writers revealed that they originally planned for a subplot regarding Josh Bauer's paternity. Originally the idea was that he would turn out to be Jack's son, but this idea was later changed into him being Philip Bauer's son. This idea wasn't scrapped until they wrote the final episode of the season. Philip Bauer was going to reveal the truth to Josh at the oil rig, but the idea was abandoned because it would add too much drama to an already dramatic situation.
Entry With the 12,000 people killed in the nuclear blast, in addition to the hundreds of casualties from the previous 11 weeks, Abu Fayed is the show's most successful mass murderer.
