Samantha: You have a lot of nerve telling me to get a wax. If you were in Aruba the natives could bead your back. And it's not just there: every time I blow you I feel like I'm flossing.

Season: Whole show  1  2  3  4  5  6  All

Across whole show

Mistake Continuity: At the beginning of every show we see Carrie walking down the street and she gets splashed by the bus. First the bus has people on it, then in the next shot they all disappear.

Mistake Continuity: In the opening credits, when Carrie gets splashed by the bus, her pink tanktop changes from slightly wet to soaked in half a second.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is telling Samantha about her bad experince in bed with Berger in season 6, Samantha suggests she heat things up and suggests shoes with fake fur on them. Carrie refuses, saying she wouldn't wear furry shoes, yet in a season 1 episode, Carrie buys herself furry shoes.

sex and the city (season 1, episode 1)

Mistake Revealing: When Carrie bumps into Mr. Big and her purse falls, watch the people in the background carefully. Many of them are watching the couple talk and interact with each other. On a busy New York street nobody is going to pay attention to two people having a conversation. Apparently all these people were watching the shooting of the scene.

valley of the twenty-something guys (season 1, episode 4)

Mistake Continuity: In season 1 "Valley of the 20-Something Guys," Carrie receives a phone call from Samantha and her voice over says she needs her morning Marlboro Light, however, when she picks up her pack of cigarettes, you can see that it is a pack of Merits.

the power of female sex (season 1, episode 5)

Mistake Continuity: Carrie is in the hotel bed from her night with the French Architect, who is just leaving for the Airport. There is a shot of the small table by the bed, with the phone sitting on it. You cannot see any envelope at all resting against the phone, or visible at all. But with the next close-up, suddenly there is a large business-size envelope with her name on it resting prominently against the front of the phone. This envelope was not there previously.

Mistake Continuity: After Amelita buys Carrie the shoes and Carrie turns to walk out, Amelita is standing right behind her still talking yet when the shot changes to Carrie walking out the door, although we can still hear Amelita chattering, she's no longer standing there or anywhere in sight.

secret sex (season 1, episode 6)

Mistake Continuity: In the episode "Secret Sex," Samantha and Carrie are hanging Carrie's poster in her apartment. In one shot, the whole poster is pinned to the wall and in the next shot, the bottom left part of the poster is curling up. After another shot of Samantha, the poster is pinned perfectly to the wall again.

Mistake Continuity: Carrie and her friends are in the City, waiting for the bus with her photo on it to drive by. When it does, there is a shocking hand-drawn image of a sexual nature near her head on the poster. In the next shot of this image, which is more of a close-up; it's a different drawing. Very similar, but obviously not the same drawing as shown the first time.

oh come, all ye faithful (season 1, episode 12)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Charlotte visits the psychic who tells her that she doesn't see marriage, some sort of equipment, possibly a boom mic, is visible in the top middle of the screen, when the psychic is in shot.

take me out to the ballgame (season 2, episode 1)

Mistake Other: When Samantha sees Carrie's picture in the paper, she says 'honey, that dress just paid for itself.' The picture is tiny, black and white and shows Carrie from the shoulders up; all you can see in it are the dress straps and just barely.

the cheating curve (season 2, episode 6)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: After Carrie lies to Miranda about getting her teeth cleaned, she turns around and you can see the shape of a square microphone pack through her coat.

the chicken dance (season 2, episode 7)

Mistake Continuity: When sitting at the bar, Samantha points to Charlotte and her date, who are heading up the stairs arm in arm carrying nothing. Yet in the next scene when they arrive at the honeymoon suite, they suddenly have their arms full with a large bag and a basket.

old dogs, new dicks (season 2, episode 9)

Mistake Other: When Steve comes to Miranda's and she's prepared a seduction, she mentions that it's 2am. Several minutes pass and they fight, after which he leaves. A whole bunch of other stuff happens with the other characters, then the scene goes back to Miranda's apartment, where she's supposedly been trying to sleep for a while; and it's still 2am.

the caste system (season 2, episode 10)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Charlotte approaches Wyle in front of the fire hydrant, the boom mic is visible at the top of the screen.

evolution (season 2, episode 11)

Mistake Continuity: When the girls are at the diner, Carrie pulls the money out of her money clip twice.

la douleur exquise! (season 2, episode 12)

Mistake Continuity: In the episode "Big Returns from Paris," Carrie meets him at his apartment with a beret and 2 McDonalds bags. She says she got a Big Mac and a Filet O'Fish. She asks him which one he wants, holding the Big Mac in her left hand and the Filet O'Fish in her right. Instantly the sandwiches switch hands in the next shot as Big walks to the right.

games people play (season 2, episode 13)

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Carrie is sitting at the table writing on her laptop after her trip with the girls to the sports bar, the camera comes round and you can see her TV. You can see a boom mic reflecting on the TV screen, and another camera.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Carrie is writing her column in the background there is a TV set and in the reflection you can see a ladder, a microphone, and a crew member.

twenty-something girls vs. thirty-something women (season 2, episode 17)

Mistake Continuity: While talking to her protege, Carrie stubs out her cigarette twice, right before she runs into Big and Natasha.

Mistake Continuity: When Samantha is talking to Carrie on the beach, Carrie lifts her arm up and places her hand on her head. The reflection on Samantha's glasses show Carrie lowering her arm, but the shot changes back to Carrie and the movement she is doing is not downwards but backwards, leading hear hand to the nape.

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": In the scene at the beach party, when Carrie brings everyone beers, Miranda says "There's so much foam, I could ski on the head," but the cups are tipped toward camera and you can see there's no foam at all.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: A white screen and crew member holding a boom mic are reflected in Samantha's glasses when she is talking to Carrie on the beach.

where there's smoke (season 3, episode 1)

Mistake Plot hole: Carrie meets a politician at the bar and gives him her address "to determine her district." He later meets her on her stoop, and mentions that her phone number is unlisted, to which she responds that it's likely to remain that way. She never gives him her phone number, yet the night he comes by to hopefully pick her up for their date, he calls and leaves a message.

attack of the five foot ten woman (season 3, episode 3)

Mistake Continuity: The episode 'Attack of the 5 foot 10 woman' in series three, when Charlotte is afraid of the sauna. She is running into the sauna with a towel wrapped around her waist. The towel comes loose and is nearly falling off - but in the next shot it is neatly tied around her waist.

Mistake Revealing: In the sauna, the girls are supposedly naked but when Samantha tells Charlotte to take off her towel, you can see that she's wearing a skin-coloured strapless bra.

Mistake Other: When Magda opens Miranda's 'Goodie Drawer', we can see a few items including a certain pink device. As the drawer is closed, it's obvious there is only one drawer on that night stand. So where is the 'Rabbit' that Miranda was so enamored of previously? Surely after spending over $90 on the 'Rabbit', Miranda would still be using it, or at least have it prominently located in her one and only 'Goodie Drawer'.

Mistake Continuity: When Magda opens Miranda's 'goody drawer' Miranda quickly slams it shut it with her hip. In the next shot, it is still open a little way.

boy, girl, boy, girl (season 3, episode 4)

Mistake Continuity: During this scene when Samantha is confronting her new assistant, the office set-up is completely different than before, when Nina G. was working for her. The assistant office space is much larger, glass desk, different angle, next to small conference room instead of Samantha's office, etc.; obviously not the same office set as previously used. Yet Samantha has not changed offices at all during this time period, as it wasn't too long ago when she fired Nina G. Something as major as changing offices would definitely have been mentioned in the plot (as changing apartments always is); and there hasn't been enough time since she fired Nina G.

no ifs, ands or butts (season 3, episode 5)

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Carrie and Miranda are eating cakes outside the shop, talking about Miranda having to be supportive to Steve about his basketball competition, keep an eye on Miranda's cake. She takes bites out of the cake and then when it is down to the last bite, the camera shows Carrie, then shows Miranda again with the cake suddenly full again.

Mistake Audio problem: Carrie tips her cigarettes into the toilet and flushes it. The shot is looking into the bowl when we hear the flush, but the water doesn't move.

drama queens (season 3, episode 7)

Mistake Plot hole: When Charlotte runs out of the restaurant; her male friend is still chasing her, and you can see him follow her out the door to the sidewalk. But then Charlotte falls in front of Trey's taxi, and Trey gets out to help her up and they meet. Meanwhile, where is Charlotte's friend? He would have still been outside, have seen her fall, and surely would have ran over to help Charlotte and see if she was OK. Yet we never see him again after she falls, and he virtually disappears from the scene.

the big time (season 3, episode 8)

Mistake Continuity: When the girls are in the bathroom talking about their periods and doing their make up, we see Carrie remove the hair scrunchie from her wrist with her teeth twice, once in the mirror in a shot from behind, and then again from the front.

Mistake Revealing: When Mr. Big is leaning against the boat rail talking to Carrie, you can see that he is not wearing a wedding ring on his left hand. This seems odd, since he just got married again. And wouldn't Natasha notice that he wasn't wearing his wedding ring as a Newlywed?

easy come, easy go (season 3, episode 9)

Mistake Factual error: Throughout this episode, when Carrie talks about the functions of the left vs. right sides of the brain, she has them backwards. The right side of the brain is the creative side, the left is the logical one. Apparently, the writers liked the idea that the "right" side of Carrie's brain would ultimately lead her to do the "right" thing about Mr. Big, but that's not the case. Rational decision are made with the brain's left side. (But then again, Carrie never was very rational when it came to Mr. Big.).

Mistake Continuity: When Samantha and her date are in the health food restaurant, she orders wheatgrass shots. The waiter pours them, filling the cups to the brim and then sets one on the table in front of each of them and we see again in a close up that they are both full up. Yet when Samantha picks up hers to drink, the liquid level has gone down a little way.

Mistake Continuity: The people walking behind Trey and Charlotte close to Tiffany's is totally different in the side angle, than in the front shot - check out the African-American woman, for example.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Miranda is woken up by the dog barking and finds that Steve hasn't come back to the apartment that night, the puppy she picks up is older than the puppy Steve picks up when he comes back to the apartment the next morning.

all or nothing (season 3, episode 10)

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is lying on her bed, she is wearing yellow pants over a green top. The top portion of her pants is unbuttoned/unzipped as she moves. But after she picks up the phone to call Big, she is sitting up on her bed, and her pants are suddenly buttoned/zipped completely up. There was no opportunity in this sequence for her to have closed her pants.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie and Mr. Big are arguing out on the street in front of her apartment, there is a shot of her holding the leash for Pete the dog in both hands. But suddenly as she is yelling at Mr. Big, you can see her throw both her hands up in the air and touch her head. She is not holding the leash at all. Then seconds later; there is a shot of her legs as Pete is running off, dragging the leash from her body and waist as if she is still holding it.

running with scissors (season 3, episode 11)

Mistake Continuity: When Samantha is in the waiting room to get her results for the AIDS test; the wide shot shows two women seated in the orange chairs on the left. One of them has a pony tail and glasses. A man with dark hair is also seated in the chairs on the right. But when we see the waiting room again right before Samantha faints; only one woman is seated in the orange chairs on the left, and the woman with the pony tail and glasses has moved down, and over to the far yellow chairs on the left. There is also a second man in a blue shirt seated closer to Samantha, in the chairs on the right. This entire scene occurred in seconds; and there was no time for anyone to have gotten up, sat down or moved locations.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie and Mr. Big are having their affair in the 3rd hotel; it is located on 56th & 8th, and is described as being a 'seedy location'. When you see the inside of the hotel room, it is obviously a very cheap, tacky hotel. But later in the episode when Carrie and Mr. Big are in the lobby of this same hotel on 56th & 8th (verified in voice over); it is obviously the lobby of a much nicer, elegant, more expensive hotel.

don't ask, don't tell (season 3, episode 12)

Mistake Factual error: I live in Edinburgh and Caleb's accent is way off, That kind of really thick dialect is found much, much further north in Scotland. Nobody from Edinburgh speaks like that.

escape from new york (season 3, episode 13)

Mistake Other: When Carrie, Samantha and Miranda step outside of the hotel so Carrie can have a cigarette, she takes a couple of draws then throws it down on the step. She tries to stub it out with her shoe by twisting her foot on it but she (the actress) accidentally kicks the cigarette down the step, so she has to just pretend to still be stubbing it out.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie gets to the WB Studios and stops at the guard's place, the image alternates between close and wide shots. The cars and people surrounding Carrie are totally different depending on the shot.

Mistake Continuity: Carrie is trying to drive a car up a hill and a grey car drives close to them very slowly. When the car is side by side to Carrie, the shot changes to a wide angle and the grey car has vanished.

sex and another city (season 3, episode 14)

Mistake Audio problem: When Charlotte is talking to a man at the Playboy Mansion, the camera is on her and in the middle of her line cuts to him, while you still see her in the left corner. Though her line continues, she's not moving her lips.

what goes around comes around (season 3, episode 17)

Mistake Revealing: When the gardener hands Charlotte the rose, he is supposedly picking it out of some rose bushes he is in the process of planting. He even makes a motion as if 'picking' it from the bunch. But when he hands the single long stem rose to Charlotte; it's obvious that this rose has already been cut, and is missing the lower leaves.

the agony and the 'ex'tasy (season 4, episode 1)

Mistake Revealing: When Charlotte arrives at Carrie's apartment to pick her up, Carrie is in the shower. As Charlotte walks towards the bathroom, there is a clear shot of Carrie showering. Sarah Jessica Parker appears to be wearing some sort of minimal tan colored undergarments, to protect her modesty while filming.

Mistake Continuity: When Miranda bumps into Cheryl on the street, she holds out her arm and starts shaking it like she is shaking Cheryl's hand but when the shot changes to Cheryl, she hasn't even taken Miranda's hand yet.

what's sex got to do with it? (season 4, episode 4)

Mistake Continuity: After Carrie asks Ray if he wants to 'play her', she pulls down the neckline of her top to reveal a strap on her left shoulder. But in the next shot when Ray moves behind Carrie and we are facing them, suddenly her top is pulled back up, and there is no strap showing. This was a seamless transition, and there was no time for anyone to have pulled her top back up.

ghost town (season 4, episode 5)

Mistake Plot hole: After Miranda buys her coffee and muffin, she walks out the front door of the store to confront Steve on the street. She talks to him for a few minutes, and then suddenly Jessica comes out from the same door to join them. Jessica was obviously in the store at the same time as Miranda was, and Miranda has seen Jessica before. So why didn't Miranda notice or recognize Jessica when they were in the store together?

Mistake Revealing: When Samantha and Maria are in the bath tub arguing; Samantha decides to leave, and suddenly gets up out of the water. She is not wearing anything from the waist up; but if you look closely just at the end of the scene, you can briefly see that Kim Cattrall is actually wearing some sort of minimal dark undergarment below her waist to cover herself. You can see a black strip of material across her hips.

Mistake Continuity: Carrie, Samantha and Miranda are at the opening of Steve and Aidan's bar. Carrie lifts her hair off her neck with her right arm, but then in the next shot, she is lowering her left arm.

baby, talk is cheap (season 4, episode 6)

Mistake Plot hole: When Aiden suddenly shows up below Carrie's window the night of their dinner together, she gets up and looks down at him from her apartment. He suddenly starts to run into the building, and at the same time Carrie immediately starts running quickly through her small apartment to get to the front door. It would have only taken Carrie a few seconds to get across her apartment, but Aiden would have had to run up the three or four flights of stairs to reach the front door of Carrie's apartment . That would obviously have taken much longer; yet as soon as Carrie opens the door, Aiden is already there and running into the apartment.

Mistake Plot hole: In the previous episode when Steve told Miranda about the opening of Scout, he was still involved with his girlfriend Jessica. Not only was Jessica with Steve when he offered the invitation to attend the opening, but she made a big point of saying 'We'd love to have you come' meaning she and Steve were still a couple. Yet later in that episode when Miranda shows up at the Scout opening, Jessica is nowhere to be found. Not only that, but Steve leads Miranda over to the bar to 'get drunk' meaning he wanted to spend some time with her. So what happened to his girlfriend Jessica? She was just with him a few days before that. Also in this episode, when Miranda and Steve went out on the double date with Aiden and Carrie; Steve was single at this point and tried to kiss Miranda on the way home. There was never any explanation or plot concerning what happened to Steve's previous girlfriend Jessica; and it seems illogical that they would have broken up in the short time between when he invited Miranda to the bar, and the actual opening night of Scout.

Mistake Plot hole: After dinner, Carrie is using her computer when Aiden suddenly is shown logging onto her AOL Buddy List. (Upper right of her computer screen). Since Carrie is unfamiliar with AOL, the Internet or how to use the Buddy List features, it's unlikely she would have already added Aiden ("AidenNYC") to her Buddy List. And you have to manually add someone to your Buddy List, it doesn't just automatically appear when you use email. But since Carrie apparently doesn't have any idea how the Buddy List/IM system works on AOL (according to her trying to 'hide' from it); she wouldn't have thought to manually add Aiden to the Buddy List at this point. It doesn't make sense.

Mistake Audio problem: After Carrie returns from dinner, she is using the computer when suddenly Aiden ("AidenNYC") is shown logging onto her AOL Buddy List (upper right of her computer screen). But for some reason, the show uses an 'IM Chime' sound. When someone logs onto their computer and appears on your Buddy List, it makes a different noise (usually a door-opening sound). The 'IM Chime' sound only happens when someone actually sends you an Instant Message. In this case, Aiden had not IMed Carrie. There was no IM on her screen, and he only appeared on her Buddy List.

my motherboard, my self (season 4, episode 8)

Mistake Factual error: A motherboard crash would not result in Carrie's losing all of the files on her hard drive. The hard drive can be removed and placed into a peripheral, which can then be accessed by plugging it into a new computer.

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie and Aiden are waiting at the Techserve store, Dmitri (the Tech Guy) calls out Carrie's number as 'Number 64'. He says this twice. But after Carrie and Aiden are finished talking with Dmitri, he calls out 'Number 78' for the next customer in line. He says this number twice as well. Why would he go from 64 to 78?

Mistake Other: When Samantha first has sex with the positions expert, they are supposed to be having sex at a moment where he flips her over but she isn't close enough to him to hide the fact that he isn't inside her.

sex and the country (season 4, episode 9)

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is startled by the squirrel and tosses the pie crust onto the counter, the camera cuts to her clasping her legs where she burnt them. In the next shot of the counter the pie crust has vanished; then in the next shot of it, the crust has returned.

Mistake Continuity: In the restaurant with Big and Carrie, Big's either holding the stem of his wine glass, or holding it above the stem between shots. There isn't any time for him to switch the position of his hand between shots.

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie is sitting on the kitchen table after Aiden ices her legs, they begin to kiss. As they lean back over the table; Carrie stretches her legs out and wraps them around Aiden, rubbing them against him several times. She has just been painfully burned on her legs, but suddenly has no problem rubbing the burned areas against his waist without any pain, problems or hesitation. She is acting as if she was never burned; but the skin would have still been tender, and it would have hurt to brush it against Aiden in that manner.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is holding the pie pan, she is startled by the squirrel on the window and drops the hot pan, burning her legs. She is facing forward directly towards the pie pan, and as it falls it could only have burned the front and possibly a little of the sides of her legs. But later when she is sitting on the kitchen table, Aiden takes some ice from the iced tea pitcher and puts it in both of his hands. He then asks her where she was burned, and proceeds to gently rub the ice on the back of both of her legs, not the front or sides where she was burned. He is only rubbing the back of her calves, below the knees.

Mistake Character mistake: When Samantha decides to go proposition the Farmer next door, Carrie asks her, "What are you up to, Sam Jone?" Only she says, 'Jone' singular, not 'Jones' plural as it's supposed to be.

Mistake Continuity: When Charlotte walks into the bathroom and sees Bunny talking to Trey in the bath, his bathwater is clear. When the shot goes to a close up of Trey, there is a layer of white bubbles on the water.

Mistake Continuity: Miranda and Steve are sitting on Miranda's sofa eating Chinese food and discussing Steve's cancer surgery. There's a close-up shot of Steve, who is wearing eyeglasses. The shot cuts to a close-up of Miranda and then back to Steve, who is now not wearing any glasses. He is not holding them, nor are they on the coffee table.

belles of the balls (season 4, episode 10)

Mistake Continuity: When Mr. Big comes up to the cabin to talk to Carrie, he isn't wearing glasses. After he drinks too much wine, they decide he has to stay the night at the cabin. Aiden throws him a pillow and blanket. Right when the blanket hits Mr. Big as he is sitting in the chair, you can suddenly see what look like some sort of metal frame glasses hanging vertically/falling off from Mr. Big's face, as if they were knocked off by the blanket. Where did the glasses come from? He wasn't wearing them just before that.

coulda, woulda, shoulda (season 4, episode 11)

Mistake Continuity: In Series 4, episode "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" Carrie is sitting at her laptop eating a blue ice pop. She takes a bite from the top then holds the stick with the rest of the ice pop in between her teeth while she types on the laptop, we see a shot of the screen. When we go back to Carrie she is eating the rest of the ice pop which is impossible because just 2 seconds before it was still attached to the stick. She didn't have time to bite it off the stick because she was using both her hands to type.

just say yes (season 4, episode 12)

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is trying to hail a cab, you can see her walking down a busy street in NYC. Big's black sedan is nowhere in sight. But a moment later; his black car suddenly pulls over to the curb right behind her, as if it was just next to her in traffic. There was no time for it to have come from anywhere else, or across from a far lane. The car was not further down the street coming towards her either, as you can see from the long shot. Big's sedan was not present in the street, before it pulled to the curb behind her.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie climbs into Big's car, she puts her bags in first, in between her and him. When the shot changes, a split second later her bags are suddenly tucked down by her legs on her other side.

the good fight (season 4, episode 13)

Mistake Plot hole: After Samantha and Richard go 'skinny dipping', they start dancing in robes by the pool. Samantha is still wearing what look like expensive dangling diamond earrings, and has obviously just swam in chlorinated water with them on. Samantha is known for her expensive taste in clothing and accessories; so even if her earrings are not actual diamonds, they are probably still very expensive, good quality jewelry. It seems illogical that she would risk damaging expensive earrings, wearing them while swimming. Even if she forgot to take them off before getting in the pool; they are very long dangling earrings, and she would have certainly noticed pretty quickly that she had them on.

all that glitters (season 4, episode 14)

Mistake Continuity: At the bar "Trade" Charlotte is having tape on her upper body in one shot, but it disappears a second later when she sees Anthony. She has no time to take it off.

change of a dress (season 4, episode 15)

Mistake Plot hole: When Aiden punches the hole through the wall of Carrie's bedroom, we can see that her entire bed is carefully covered in cloth and plastic. But despite that much preparation, the empty book shelves are still attached to the same wall, and her bed is still pushed up against it. If they were thorough enough to completely cover the bed, then why not remove everything from the wall? It doesn't make sense that the shelves and bed would still be on the wall that Aiden is trying to demolish.

Mistake Character mistake: When Miranda offers to take Carrie to a bad Bridal shop, it sounds like she says, "I'll treat you to a 'Tasty Lite'". But when Carrie answers her, she says, "You're gonna have to do a lot better than 'Tasty Delite'". Later in this episode when the girls are talking at the restaurant, Carrie again refers to the place as 'Tasty Delite' which is apparently the real name. Cynthia Nixon must have gotten her lines slightly wrong, calling it 'Tasty Lite'.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is reading the magazine and Aiden punches a hole through her wall, the hole looks to be about 4 feet from the corner of the wall. But after Carrie gets up and runs into the other apartment to confront Aiden, the hole in the other side of the wall is suddenly about 8 feet from the same corner, much further away.

ring a ding ding (season 4, episode 16)

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie sits down to read Aiden's 'farewell letter,' she discovers he has left her legal papers instead. Miranda later examines the legal documents, and explains the terms at the restaurant. But Aiden has only just moved out that day, and had spent the previous night in the apartment next door. (This was made clear in the previous episode, when Carrie explains in voiceover that 'the next day, Aiden moved out'.) He has spent the day moving his things out; there is no logical way he would have had time to contact a legal firm, make an appointment, go to the appointment, make arrangements to deal with Carrie's apartment, and have complex legal documents drawn up and ready to give to Carrie. None of this could have possibly happened between the night before when Aiden decided to end the relationship, and the next day when he physically moved out. No additional time has passed, as Carrie asks him to stay 'one more day', implying this really is the day after the previous episode.

Mistake Revealing: When Charlotte is putting her diamond ring on in her apartment, there is a close-up shot of it. It is a large, circular diamond on a simple golden band. This is not the same diamond engagement ring she has been wearing previously in the series. That ring had two parallel silver bands, and the diamond looked slightly different.

Mistake Plot hole: When Charlotte places her ring box in front of Carrie on the table at the restaurant, there is a close-up shot showing that she is still wearing her simple gold wedding band on her right hand. The entire episode has emphasized that it's strange for Charlotte to still be wearing her diamond engagement ring when she is alone, since she is getting a divorce. So why is nothing mentioned about her continuing to wear her gold wedding band? That doesn't seem to be an issue, but wouldn't it be just as strange?

a vogue idea (season 4, episode 17)

Mistake Continuity: Right before the '3-way'; Samantha takes off the top of her lingerie/dress and pushes it down to her waist, to reveal a strapless black bra she is wearing underneath. She does this in response to the younger girl removing her top, and they are both obviously getting ready for the main event. But in the next shot when Samantha is kissing Richard in bed, she is suddenly wearing the black lingerie/dress pulled back up over her shoulders again. Why would she put the dress back on, after removing it for sex?

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie spots the Manolo Blahnik black Mary Jane shoes in the Vogue Accessory Closet, there is a close-up of the shoes sitting on the shelf. In the previous episode, it was established that Carrie wears size 7 1/2 in shoes. (When she was shopping with Miranda). But when we see the Mary Janes on the shelf, and when Carrie holds them in her hands; they appear to be much larger than size 7 1/2. They look about size 8-10. Yet when Carrie tries them on; she mentions that they 'almost fit', and seems to be having trouble squeezing her feet into them. The implication is that the shoes are actually too tight for her, a smaller size than what she actually wears. Yet instead of looking smaller than size 7 1/2, the shoes are apparently much larger.

Mistake Continuity: When Charlotte is crying into the pillow, we can see that she's gotten black eye make-up on it. The splodges of make-up disappear twice during the scene, most noticeable just when Carrie walks in holding the baby.

Mistake Plot hole: After Carrie drinks 1 1/2 martinis in Julian's office, she gets extremely drunk. He has to help her walk out of the office, and she is staggering and falling into things. This doesn't seem logical, as Carrie goes out frequently and drinks all the time. Even in the daytime sometimes. She is used to drinking a great deal more than 1 1/2 martinis, and doesn't usually get nearly that drunk. For someone who drinks a considerable amount of alcohol as a normal part of her life, it seems implausible that she would suddenly get stumbling drunk after only one and a half martinis, no matter how strong they are. And it's doubtful Julian would have made them too strong, being during the morning in a major magazine office environment.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie and the Vogue editor are drinking martinis in his office, the level of liquor in their glasses changes from shot to shot.

i heart ny (season 4, episode 18)

Mistake Revealing: When Carrie arrives at the hospital room, Miranda is walking back and forth trying to break her water. When she turns back towards Carrie, you can see something sticking out prominently from under her hospital gown on the right side of her abdomen. The object appears to be swinging around on a line or wire as Miranda moves. When Miranda gets closer to Carrie and finally stops just in front of her; you can see the entire wire or line attached to the object slanting diagonally from her left shoulder, across her chest and down her abdomen, just right of the center. The protruding object, and line or wire must be her mic.

Mistake Revealing: At the end of this episode when Carrie is walking away from Mr. Big's apartment; she notices an Autumn leaf, and follows it with her eyes as it floats down to the ground. However, this leaf is actually digital and not real. Sarah Jessica Parker had to pretend to be staring at a leaf that wasn't there while filming; and if you watch her gaze carefully, it doesn't always follow the path of the leaf. She looks down too soon, before the leaf has a chance to float down that far.

Mistake Continuity: When the horse drawn buggy is pulling over to the curb in front of the hospital, you can see it dodging traffic and cars. But after Carrie leaves and the buggy pulls away with only Mr. Big, suddenly there are no cars or traffic in sight. The entire street from that direction appears to be completely empty.

anchors away (season 5, episode 1)

Mistake Revealing: When Miranda is breast feeding Brady with Carrie in the room, as she pulls down her top, you can see her prosthetic body suit rippling and bunching up.

Mistake Plot hole: When the girls are walking down the street after eating, they all decide to go shopping downtown. Only Miranda says, "I forgot the Snuggly", implying that she can't go shopping with them. So Samantha rushes her off in a taxi. But in reality, this doesn't make sense. Miranda has already been out with Brady for hours, eating with the girls in a restaurant and then walking with him in NYC. So why would he suddenly need his 'Snuggly' to go shopping? If he was fine with all the activity before that, there is no reason he wouldn't have continued to be fine while shopping.

Mistake Continuity: When we first see the 3 sailors walking down the NYC street, they are in a close-up shot that cuts off about where their knees would be. But the next shot of them as Miranda turns around; the sailors are much further away, showing all of them. Then for the final shot; the sailors are closer as they would be normally, but still not as close as the first shot. Their feet are still not showing.

Mistake Revealing: During the scene when all 4 girls are walking down the street, 'strutting' fully dressed up on their way to the Navy party, look behind them in the distance. There appears to be a great crowd of people gathered behind what might be a barrier. These look like people just watching the filming. This is more clear at the very beginning of the scene, when the girls first begin walking down the street. Also, in the TBS web site in the episode guide, there is a photo of this very same scene shot from a different side angle. You can see a definite barrier on the sidewalk to the left, filled with onlookers who are watching the filming. Thus, it's possible that the people in the rear visible in the show, are the same.

unoriginal sin (season 5, episode 2)

Mistake Continuity: Up until this time, the baby Brady has been shown to be larger, with a very round face and red hair. But when they show the baby in the crib (04:22) this is a different baby. It's much younger, smaller, no round face, and has dark brown hair. And later, when Steve's mother shows Miranda the photo of Brady, (14:21) again it's a much smaller, younger baby with dark brown hair, and no round face. During the actual Baptism, when they show close-ups of Carrie holding Brady while Charlotte takes pictures; (26:20) the baby looks like yet another baby that is smaller and younger, but appears to have reddish hair. Looks like they used 3 different babies to represent Brady at this point.

luck be an old lady (season 5, episode 3)

Mistake Continuity: When Samantha first puts on the gold necklace in the hotel room, the pendants dangling on the right side are lying over the right lapel of her blouse. But after Samantha walks the housekeeper out the door and turns to face Richard, suddenly the same pendants on the necklace are underneath the lapel, though she did not have a chance to fix the necklace in this time.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie and Miranda are getting on the bus to Atlantic City, an older lady dressed in pink is sitting down right behind them. As the scene continues, we can see many more people filing onto the bus as the girls talk. But in the next shot of the entire bus, suddenly there is no one at all behind Carrie and Miranda. Not even the lady in pink; the entire bus behind them is empty, although people are still getting on.

cover girl (season 5, episode 4)

Mistake Other: When Carrie goes inside the changing booth to try on the pink outfit, the run time is: 17:47. Then after Stanton and Marcus arrive, Carrie suddenly whips the curtain open to reveal herself completely changed into the new outfit including shoes. This occurs at run time: 18:08. These events happen in real time; and there is no logical way that Carrie could have changed from one complete outfit including shoes, to another complete outfit including shoes, in only 21 seconds. That just doesn't make sense.

Mistake Revealing: When Samantha walks in on Marcus 'servicing' Stanton, the positioning is all wrong. Marcus' head is too high up to be realistic for what is happening. His head is almost up to the level of Stanton's chest.

Mistake Revealing: When Samantha is walking down a busy NYC street talking on her cell to Carrie, you can see a man in a blue jacket walking right behind her. The next shot of him; he suddenly pulls out an obvious black camera and takes a photo, aiming it directly at Samantha in front of him. This is apparently not an 'extra', but someone on the street who wanted to take a picture of Kim. There are also a lot of other people in the background walking behind her at this point. But in the next shot of Samantha still walking on the same street and talking on the phone, there are suddenly no people right behind her at all. It's an empty space, and no time has passed for them to have dispersed. They may have cleared the area behind her; because people weren't behaving properly during filming, such as the man taking her picture. This would normally be a continuity error; except that in this case I believe the sudden change in background was due to the guy taking the picture inappropriately, not just a slip in background filming.

plus one is the loneliest number (season 5, episode 5)

Mistake Revealing: Carrie is wearing a lot cut dress; and Sarah Jessica Parker's pregnancy is again very noticeable at this stage as her chest is filled out, and considerably larger than normal.

Mistake Revealing: When Carrie and Berger are walking out of the park, you can see Sarah Jessica Parker's 'baby bulge' noticeably in her abdomen. Her dress doesn't cover it up.

Mistake Revealing: The scene where Charlotte is shown sleeping with her new 'plus one' to the next morning was all filmed in entirely one sequence, real time, without any editing. Therefore, Charlotte had to change really quickly into her lingerie, and get into position for the morning shot in a very short period of time. As the camera pans away from Charlotte taking off her clothes at night, there is a mirror on the wall behind her. If you look closely at the mirror, Charlotte appears to fall over quickly, and then suddenly roll/move to the right side and get off of the bed, as if to change into her morning outfit.

critical condition (season 5, episode 6)

Mistake Revealing: When Carrie is watching TV in her apartment, she uses the remote to click off the TV after SNL is over. There is a close-up of the TV screen, reflecting the room in front of it. You can see a round table with a lot of stuff on it, the windows/curtains and desk, and what appears to be a square ottoman of some kind. But Carrie is nowhere in sight, there is just a blank wall reflected where her image should have been. She is directly facing her TV, as shown from the angle of her perspective as she clicks it off. We should be able to see her somewhere within the television reflection, but she isn't there.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie and Steve are sitting on his front steps discussing Aiden, Carrie is looking forward as Steve says "He lost his ability to open up and trust women." At that moment; Carrie turns her face towards Steve to her left, and keeps it there as she is appalled. But the very next shot; Carrie is suddenly facing forward again, and then starts turning her head left towards Steve for a second time. But in the next shot; she is already facing Steve, from the first time she reacted to what he said. It's clear that she had never actually moved her head after the first time.

the big journey (season 5, episode 7)

Mistake Revealing: After Carrie leaves the hotel bathroom, Samantha is getting out of the tub. In the mirror behind her, you can see that Kim Cattrall (Samantha) is wearing some sort of dark pink undergarment below her waist to hide herself.

Mistake Audio problem: When Samantha and Carrie are in their room on the train, Samantha starts to pour herself a glass of champagne. We hear it pouring for a few seconds until it sounds like the glass is full but when she puts the bottle down, there's barely anything in her glass.

Mistake Continuity: When Charlotte is signing her divorce papers, there is a close-up of Harry's face leaning over her. It's covered with large drops of sweat, some of which drip onto the paper. But in the next shot of Harry when he is standing up, he isn't nearly as sweaty. Most of the perspiration on his face seems to have disappeared.

i love a charade (season 5, episode 8)

Mistake Revealing: When Miranda comes home from work and takes off her black jacket, her black dress underneath is tight. You can tell how pregnant Cynthia Nixon is when she lies on the bed with Steve.

Mistake Revealing: When Carrie and Berger are talking on the grass, Berger suddenly gets up to leave. He grabs his jacket which Carrie is sitting on, knocking her over. As she falls back, you can see her quickly pull the front of her shirt over herself to make sure it covers her pregnant belly. Also, as Carrie starts to get up, there is a point where her shirt falls forward, and you can see Sarah Jessica Parker's pregnant bulge from the side.

to market, to market (season 6, episode 1)

Mistake Plot hole: In this episode Carrie runs into Aidan, who now has what looks to be about a 6 month old baby (Tate). This doesn't seem possible, as Carrie and Aidan would have only broken up about a year ago, and Miranda was around 6 months pregnant when they broke up. Brady is only about 5 months old at this point in the series, leaving Aidan only roughly 8 months to have this baby - but Aidan lay in bed for about a month and then dated Nina Katz for awhile. Timeline just doesn't seem to fit.

Mistake Revealing: When Carrie is entering the NYSE, she has to go through a metal screener. When the security guards are using the wands on her, she spreads her arms, and you can then see some sort of horizontal line or wire sticking out from under her dress, around the waist. There also appears to be something above the wire, showing through the material. She seems to be wearing some sort of contraption under her dress, and when she moves, the entire object moves loosely. Possibly this is her microphone and attached wire?

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie runs into Aiden on the street, he tells her that he 'married another furniture designer'. Although Carrie is happy for him, it doesn't seem likely that she wouldn't have known about this. Steve and Aiden are business partners and close friends, and Miranda is very close to Steve with their baby. Carrie would have undoubtedly heard about Aiden's marriage through the 'friends grapevine' before that, as news that big wouldn't just slip under the radar. Someone would have told her, so it isn't logical that she is just now finding out about Aiden's marriage.

Mistake Plot hole: When Charlotte wakes up in the morning next to Harry, she turns over to talk to him. At this point, you can see that she is still wearing a simple gold wedding band on her right hand. This makes no sense, as she is completely divorced and already dating someone else. She wouldn't still be wearing her wedding ring from her marriage with Trey.

Mistake Continuity: When Steve is wiping Miranda's face with the baby wipes, there are still a few smudges on her forehead. But after she chases him across the room and back again, suddenly the smudges are gone, and her forehead and face are entirely clear of anything. She did not have a chance to wipe her skin at all.

lights, camera, relationship (season 6, episode 5)

Mistake Continuity: When Charlotte and Anthony are talking on the park bench, Charlotte is looking at Anthony to her right as she says "No next, it doesn't work like that". She then turns her head back to face forward, when she is through speaking. But the very next shot, Charlotte has her head turned towards the right, and is facing Anthony again.

Mistake Continuity: When Jack and Carrie are arguing in the street, Jack stretches out his arms widely asking for a hug. Carrie starts walking towards him, but in the very next shot suddenly Jack's arms are down by his sides.

hop, skip, and a week (season 6, episode 6)

Mistake Continuity: After Carrie rents the car and takes it back, she and Miranda are sitting on the couch talking. As Carrie says something, she turns her head to the right, looking straight at Miranda. When Miranda replies, "Well, that's one option", you can still see Carrie's head in the shot, turned towards Miranda on the right. But then in the next shot of Carrie, she is facing straight ahead and talking in the middle of a sentence.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie knocks the vase to the floor, it rolls away and settles beside the leg of her couch. In the next shot, it's lying on the floor next to the table she knocked it from.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie knocks the vase of carnations off the table, the flowers scatter all over the room, but in the close up shot of the table, there are still a bunch on the table, and on the floor around the base.

the catch (season 6, episode 8)

Mistake Plot hole: When there is a close-up shot of Charlotte and Harry's wedding announcement in the New York Times, there is a large article to the left and above. If you read what it says, it appears to actually be a tongue-in-cheek wedding announcement referencing Mr. Big and Natasha's former wedding. The college information is off (Rutgers instead of Tulane), but some of the other information alludes to their previous wedding in the Hamptons, and how they met. Also the name Natasha is mentioned several times. Yet we know that this wedding happened some time ago, so it couldn't possibly be running in that day's New York Times.

Mistake Character mistake: When Charlotte is looking at her wedding announcement in the New York Times, there is a close-up shot of part of the article. It says, in reference to Charlotte: "She is a writer and editor at Fashions Magazine in Manhattan". This is not true, nor has it ever been true. Perhaps the producers of the show threw that in, to see if anyone would notice. Also, the same article mentions: "The bride, who will be keeping her name..." and yet we never really hear Charlotte use the name York instead of Goldenblatt.

Mistake Plot hole: After Carrie has her strenuous night with the 'fling', she is shown lying flat on her apartment floor in the morning, as if unable to move very much. But there is a cup of coffee next to her, obviously bought from somewhere in the city. Carrie is so disabled from her injury that when she reaches the church, she is hunched over, can barely walk, and Stanford has to help her along. She is affected a great deal from her 'sex sprain' during the entire wedding. So how is it that she was able to get up and go buy a cup of coffee outside of her apartment in the morning, when she was so injured she couldn't do much but lie flat on the floor when Charlotte called her? It doesn't seem likely that Carrie would have gone to all that effort to go out and buy coffee, when she is so immobile. She wasn't able to get around well enough for a small errand.

Mistake Character mistake: When Steve and Debbie are leaving Miranda's apartment, Steve calls out, "Bye Martha". The woman he is referring to is named Magda.

Mistake Continuity: After Miranda comes out from under the bed she has a couple of dust bunnies on the front of her dress, but in the subsequent shot they're gone.

a woman's right to shoes (a.k.a. no shoes, no service) (season 6, episode 9)

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is telling the rest of the girls at the restaurant, about her shoes being stolen, Charlotte asks her 'who would steal shoes at a party'. Carrie answers, "Someone Size 7 with excellent taste". But previously in season 4, episode 16, when Carrie and Miranda are shoe shopping together, Carrie asks to try on Size 7 1/2. Her shoe size apparently changes throughout the series from 7 to 7 1/2. Her actual feet, however are much larger as you can see from close-ups of the real shoes.

Mistake Continuity: In this episode, Brady has the Chicken Pox. But when Robert visits Miranda at home and picks up Brady, there is absolutely no sign at all that he has Chicken Pox. It takes awhile to get over Chicken Pox, and for them to fade. So even if Brady is recovering from having Chicken Pox recently, he would still show signs of it. It couldn't go away that fast, and it's way too soon for Brady to be completely clear.

boy, interrupted (season 6, episode 10)

Mistake Character mistake: When the girls are sitting by the pool discussing men, Samantha at one point says, "No one wants to admit they're in a looney bin". To which Carrie replies, "On a first date", referencing her high school boyfriend Jeremy. But Jeremy actually told Carrie about the mental institution on their second date, when she invited him over to her apartment. Their first date was dinner at the restaurant, where they met.

Mistake Continuity: At the end of the show, when Carrie visits Jeremy at the psychiatric facility, they are sitting outside having a picnic. As they are talking, notice Carrie's necklace. It is a bolero-type necklace and the red stones on the end move up the necklace to near the clasp and then back down into her cleavage. Then they go back up again.

the one (season 6, episode 12)

Mistake Other: When Charlotte is on the couch watching TV, there is a shot where you can see the backs of both of her hands. She is again wearing the simple gold wedding band on her right hand as she did previously, but she also has on her new wedding band that Harry gave her on her left hand. There is no sight of the large diamond engagement ring he gave her either. It seems strange that Charlotte would be wearing two wedding bands, and not her diamond ring from her current marriage.

Mistake Revealing: When Carrie and Aleksander arrive at the museum, he turns to close the cab door and his back is facing us. You can see the outline of a long cable running vertically down the center of his back, protruding from under his jacket. This cable goes from his neck down to the bottom flap of his jacket, and must be part of his mic.

the ick factor (season 6, episode 14)

Mistake Other: When the plastic surgeon is giving Samantha a breast exam, you can tell that he isn't really examining her breast. He is actually moving his hand in a circular motion in the air above her breast pretending to give her an exam, but is touching her hospital gown instead.

catch-38 (season 6, episode 15)

Mistake Continuity: There's a scene that opens with Carrie and her boyfriend in his apartment, and he's sitting with baby Brady on his lap. The camera cuts to another angle, and it's very obviously a different baby.

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie and Charlotte are at the park, Carrie has a black and white cookie that keeps changing position in her hands with each shot of her. First the chocolate side close to her, then away, then close again, etc.

out of the frying pan (season 6, episode 16)

Mistake Continuity: The amount of hair Samantha shaves off before Smith comes in increases without her shaving any more. She takes off two chunks, he comes in, and when he starts shaving his head, she's suddenly buzzed to a number 2 cut on a whole part of her head.

Mistake Continuity: Just before Carrie sees the mouse, she sets her two wine glasses down on the counter in the middle. The mouse appears and the shot cuts to her screaming, then to Alecsander slamming the frying pan down on the mouse, and the two glasses have moved to one side, out of the way of the pan.

the cold war (season 6, episode 17)

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie arrives home and checks her phone machine, Mr. Big has left some messages. In one of them, he mentions that he 'called her cell, but he must have copied her cell phone number wrong, because he got another person instead'. But this doesn't make logical sense. Mr. Big has already called Carrie on her cell phone (IE: "Thrift Store", "Jury Duty"), and obviously knows her correct number. And if he had written it down, he must have written it down correctly to have called her on her cell.

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie calls the girls from Aleksandr's couch, she is wearing one outfit. In voice-over, she says she stayed at his apartment for 4 days. But then when she finally arrives home, she is wearing a completely different outfit. How would she have so many clothes to wear, when she didn't expect to be away from home for 4 days? She wasn't carrying any luggage or other clothing with her when she came home, either.

Mistake Plot hole: When Carrie is at Aleksandr's, she tells him that she has to go home to work on her column because she doesn't have her computer there. Aleksandr offers to let her use his computer instead, so she is able to work there after all. But in reality, this situation doesn't make much sense. Since Carrie has been spending so much time there, including overnights and a 4 day 'staycation', then why wouldn't she think to bring her laptop with her? When she knows ahead of time that she is spending a great deal of time at Aleksandr's, she most likely would have remembered to bring her laptop with her to work on.

splat! (season 6, episode 18)

Mistake Plot hole: Elizabeth Taylor is "gang banged" at the park by a number of dogs of different breeds. Yet the puppies that she has are all King Charles Spaniels just like their mother.

an american girl in paris (part une) (season 6, episode 19)

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie enters the Dior store from the rain, she slips and falls. When she first starts falling, her arms are outstretched widely above her head. But the very next shot suddenly shows her hitting the floor, with her arms down in front of her to break the fall. There was no time for her to have moved her arms that quickly.

an american girl in paris (part deux) (season 6, episode 20)

Mistake Continuity: When Carrie is telling Alex about her Parisian fans and the party she's been invited to, her cigarette pack not only changes position in her hand with her coffee cup, but also disappears and reappears several times.

Mistake Continuity: While in the changing room of the salon, Samantha takes off her black 'cape' twice.
