Sex and the City

The power of female sex - S1-E5

Continuity mistake: Carrie is in the hotel bed from her night with the French Architect, who is just leaving for the Airport. There is a shot of the small table by the bed, with the phone sitting on it. You cannot see any envelope at all resting against the phone, or visible at all. But with the next close-up, suddenly there is a large business-size envelope with her name on it resting prominently against the front of the phone. This envelope was not there previously. Baby, talk is cheap - S4-E6

Plot hole: After dinner, Carrie is using her computer when Aiden suddenly is shown logging onto her AOL Buddy List. (Upper right of her computer screen). Since Carrie is unfamiliar with AOL, the Internet or how to use the Buddy List features, it's unlikely she would have already added Aiden ("AidenNYC") to her Buddy List. And you have to manually add someone to your Buddy List, it doesn't just automatically appear when you use email. But since Carrie apparently doesn't have any idea how the Buddy List/IM system works on AOL (according to her trying to 'hide' from it); she wouldn't have thought to manually add Aiden to the Buddy List at this point. It doesn't make sense. (00:18:40)

Running with scissors - S3-E11

Continuity mistake: When Carrie is in Big's kitchen, and hears Natasha come home, she tries to leave in a hurry. She puts on her blue levi jacket, so it's about halfway on with her left arm in the sleeve. But in the next shot of her, Carrie is suddenly wearing only her pink bra and carrying the blue jacket. As she unlocks the door and starts running down the stairs, she throws on the blue levi jacket for the second time. (00:25:15)

Evolution - S2-E11

Visible crew/equipment: During the scene when the four girls are at the bar talking, you can briefly see the boom mic swing quickly overhead at the top of the shot. (00:06:10)

I love a charade - S5-E8

Revealing mistake: When Carrie and Berger are talking on the grass, Berger suddenly gets up to leave. He grabs his jacket which Carrie is sitting on, knocking her over. As she falls back, you can see her quickly pull the front of her shirt over herself to make sure it covers her pregnant belly. Also, as Carrie starts to get up, there is a point where her shirt falls forward, and you can see Sarah Jessica Parker's pregnant bulge from the side. (00:18:35)

The ick factor - S6-E14

Other mistake: When the plastic surgeon is giving Samantha a breast exam, you can tell that he isn't really examining her breast. He is actually moving his hand in a circular motion in the air above her breast pretending to give her an exam, but is touching her hospital gown instead. (00:20:20)

The agony and the 'ex'tasy - S4-E1

Continuity mistake: When Carrie is showering after being stood up at her party she is not wearing mascara as she stands with her face under the water, then as she opens the curtain to talk to Charlotte again there is no mascara. She puts her hands briefly over her eyes and when she takes them away, mascara is visible all over her eyes and cheeks.

The agony and the 'ex'tasy - S4-E1

Plot hole: In the closing scene in Big's car, he asks Carrie how her birthday was, then says, "So how old are you?" She replies, "How old are you?" And they coyly don't reveal their "age box." But they have known each other for 3 years/seasons at this point - dated on/off for 2 years, had an affair, and are just friends now. There is no way they wouldn't know each other's ages. This exchange only existed to benefit the plot of this episode - it makes no sense given how long they've known each other.

Hop, skip, and a week - S6-E6

Continuity mistake: After Carrie rents the car and takes it back, she and Miranda are sitting on the couch talking. As Carrie says something, she turns her head to the right, looking straight at Miranda. When Miranda replies, "Well, that's one option", you can still see Carrie's head in the shot, turned towards Miranda on the right. But then in the next shot of Carrie, she is facing straight ahead and talking in the middle of a sentence. (00:19:30)

Anchors away - S5-E1

Continuity mistake: When the cop tells Sam not to stick bills on lamp posts, the first shot shows the bills crumpled and messily stuck. A shot later they're neatly placed. Then yet another shot later their position changes for a third time.

Change of a dress - S4-E15

Continuity mistake: When Carrie is reading the magazine and Aiden punches a hole through her wall, the hole looks to be about 4 feet from the corner of the wall. But after Carrie gets up and runs into the other apartment to confront Aiden, the hole in the other side of the wall is suddenly about 8 feet from the same corner, much further away. (00:12:55)

The real me - S4-E2

Continuity mistake: As the group are discussing Samantha's nude photos in the restaurant, a salad Miranda has ordered arrives at the table. Just after Carrie says "that we know of" you can see the waitress place both the salad and a ramekin of dressing onto the table from behind Miranda. The shot then cuts to the front and the waitress is shown putting the ramekin down for the second time.

Charlotte: How can you forget a guy you've slept with?
Carrie: Toto, I don't think we're in single digits anymore.
