Friends (1994) - 929 mistakes in entire show

Continuity: Across Series 3 - 5, Ross remains the same age (29) for all three years. In Series 3 he tells Chandler, "No thanks, I'm 29" when offered chocolate milk; in Series 4 when the guys try to party without Gandalf they all say they're 29; and in Series 5 when he's trying to reconcile with Emily, he says either he does, or he would get divorced for the second time before age 30.

Deliberate "mistake": The show is set in New York. Joey was a cast member on Days of Our Lives, which is filmed in Los Angeles, but is still always around.

Continuity: In S1 E1 a lady is seen walking past the window of Central Perk. In series 10 the same clip is used - everything's identical despite 10 years passing.

Factual error: Phoebe's greatest love David leaves her to go to Minsk and comes and goes throughout the whole show, telling stories of Minsk on the way i.e. of the long months when the sun does not rise and the constant freezing cold. Minsk, being the capital of Belarus (although claimed to be in Russia for reasons explained in Corrections), is approximately as high up north as i.e. Wales and northern coast of Germany, and even during the winter months there is always daylight for several hours. Although winters in Eastern Europe are cold, the kind of coldness described by David would more believably happen in Siberia than Minsk, and the summers are just as nice and hot as everywhere in Europe.

Deliberate "mistake": The only time that any apartment doors are locked is when it is important to the episode. For example, Monica's apartment door is always unlocked, even when they go out or she and Chandler are having sex, but in "The One Where Underdog Gets Away" (Series 1), it's locked when there is all the "got the keys?" business. Also, Ross' apartment is never locked, except for in "The One With Phoebe's Birthday Dinner" (series 9), when they lock Emma in, and in "The One With The Engagement Picture" (S7 E4) when Phoebe has the key and unlocks the door then Ross demands it back.

Continuity: Across the whole show, the infamous wall in Rachel's room / guest room (Monica's apartment) changes. When the room is not being filmed, the wall is as normal, but on quite a few episodes, when the room is actually used for scenes, the wall is much shorter. In both the episode where Ross buys Phoebe a bike, and where Phoebe and Rachel have to live with Monica after their apartment caught on fire, people are able to walk straight into the room without the wall being in the way.

Continuity: Joey is shown moving into Chandler's apartment and meeting everyone for the first time approximately one year before Rachel showed up. It is also mentioned that it is a warm time of year, indicating that it is set during the summer months. However in 'The One with All the Thanksgivings' (series 6) Joey is shown living with the Friends by Thanksgiving (i.e. November) 1992.

Audio problem: Any scenes outside Central Perk always sound as if they're on a set (which let's be honest, they are) - the sound is often muted and footsteps on the pavement have a very slight echo to them.

Factual error: Chandler and Monica's wedding day is May 15th, as mentioned on the show. In Series 9, some time in January (as it is after the characters have celebrated Christmas and New Year), it is established that Rachel has been on maternity leave for five months, which means she took her leave in August. Since she realised she was pregnant in May the year before, this means her pregnancy lasted from April/May 2000 to August/September 2001, a time span of 16 to 17 months. This cannot be explained by saying that episodes don't have to take place in the month they air, as we are given the dates by the characters on the show.

Other: The arrangement of Joey and Chandler's bathroom changes. In 'TOW the boobies', the shower is opposite the door, but in other episodes, the sink is opposite the door.

Other: In 'The One With The Ick Factor' (Season One) Monica states that she is 26 years old. This episode takes place in 1994/95. However there are numerous other episodes such as 'The One With All The Thanksgivings' that show Monica and Rachel (who are the same age and in the same class) still being in High School in 1988. In 'The One Where The Stripper Cries' the two have to sneak into a college party in 1987 as they are still high school age. They should be at least 19 or 20 in 1987/88.

Continuity: The Chick changes breeds and gender a couple of times. It starts out as a full size White Leghorn. During the adolescent phase it is a female White Silkie. This is a bantam or small size chicken. In maturity it is a male White Leghorn.

Continuity: The view from Monica's apartment changes after the first few episodes.

Continuity: The number of the flats near the start of the first series was 4 and 5. After a few shows they changed to 19 and 20. [The producers realised that the numbers 4 and 5 were for apartments on the lower floors and had shown Monica's apartment to be much higher up so they changed the numbers - it's still a mistake but there's the reason.]

Continuity: In the pilot episode, the guy Rachel left at the altar is called Barry Finkel. In all the other episodes his name is Barry Farber.

Continuity: Mr Heckles's apartment number changes from 8 to 5.

Continuity: The door to Monica's bedroom is shown open, then closed, then open, and then closed during the scene in which Paul arrives for their date.

Continuity: At the end of the episode when Ross picks up his jacket, there is a blue bowl on the small table by the pillar and nothing on the main kitchen table. In the next shot, the blue bowl has moved to the large table.

Continuity: In the scene where the friends scoot the table over to see Monica's date with "Paul the wine guy", the cup in front of Chandler changes position.

Continuity: When Monica is saying bye to Paul, Paul goes to the screen left but the stairs are at the screen right.

Continuity: When Ross, Chandler and Joey are setting up Ross' furniture and Ross is bent down saying, "And I cannot feel my legs," Ross is holding a manual. When it cuts, the manual is on the floor.

Continuity: When the guys are building furniture, Joey is wearing a pair of light blue jeans. When he leaves to go on his date, they are dark blue.

Continuity: At the end of the episode, as a customer in Central Perk asks Rachel for more coffee, Chandler has set his cup of coffee on the table. In the next shot, he is holding it again.

Plot hole: When Rachel arrives to Central Perk, Monica introduces her to everybody, including to Chandler, as if they don't know each other. In later episodes, we learn that Chandler, Monica and Rachel knew each other in high school. Even Chandler kissed Rachel once, and since Chandler always says that he hasn't kissed many women, he should have perfectly remembered Rachel, and Monica should have known that the two of them knew each other.

Continuity: When Monica asks Ross, 'Do you want me to stay?', her hands are in front of her, not touching Ross. In the next shot, her right hand is holding onto Ross's wrist.

Continuity: At the end of the episode when Chandler says "I'm in Las Vegas" Rachel starts to pour his coffee. In the next shot they have moved apart instantly and Chandler is putting his cup down.

Continuity: When Rachel loses the ring near the beginning, Chandler and Joey get off a chair to help look. But then the shot cuts to Monica, and behind her you can see Chandler at the fridge without enough time to get there.

Continuity: At the start of the episode when Chandler is talking about Pink Floyd, his legs are both on the table. When the shot changes, his right leg is resting on his left knee.

Continuity: When we first see Ross at the museum, the woman he works with is holding a rock. In the first shot, she is holding onto it with her right hand at the bottom and just before the shot changes she turns away from Ross. In the next shot, she is facing Ross again and her right hand has moved on top of the rock.

Continuity: When Ross arrives at Monica's apartment, both Ross and Monica walk past the beam in the middle of the room. In the next shot as they continue walking they walk past the beam again.

Continuity: At the very start of the episode, Monica holds up both of her hands. In the next shot her right hand is wrapped around her legs.

Continuity: When we first see Chandler in his office, his sleeve is rolled below his elbow. In the next shot, it is above his elbow.

Continuity: At the end of the episode when Phoebe asks Monica if Alan mentioned them, the towel on the table is next to Phoebe and is untidy. In the next shot, it has moved closer to Chandler and is folded neatly.

Continuity: When Joey comes into Monica and Rachel's apartment and sits down, he puts his towel on his lap. In the next shot it is over his shoulders, then back on his lap again.

Continuity: When Phoebe visits Lizzie, Lizzie is feeding the pigeons with her right hand. In the next shot, a plastic bag has appeared in her left hand from nowhere.

Continuity: When Phoebe sees Lizzie, she is sat near her trolley feeding pigeons which are out of shot. In the next shot two pigeons have appeared next to the trolley.

Continuity: After Chandler shouts at everyone because they are complaining about his smoking, there is an awkward silence and we see a shot of Rachel leaning on the sofa with her arms spread. In the next shot she isn't leaning on the sofa anymore.

Continuity: When Lizzie holds the tin foil hat up to Phoebe, in one shot she holds it out with one hand, then in the next shot she is holding it in both hands.

Continuity: When Rachel says, "You can never be too Alan.' Ross is holding out the yellow pom poms. In the next shot they are pointed at the floor.

Continuity: When Chandler smokes the cigarette at the start of the episode, keep an eye on Joey's arms. First he moves his arms between his legs, then his left arm moves onto his knee between shots.

Continuity: When Chandler says he won't quit smoking, he holds his hands out. In the next shot, they are lowered between his legs.

Continuity: When Ross said his parents sent their dog away, Chandler is holding onto his right foot with his hand. In the next shot, the foot is gone and his arm is in a different position.

Continuity: When Ross starts talking about his dog at the start of the episode, Monica has her left foot on the floor and she is holding onto her right leg. As Ross says 'send' both of her feet are on the sofa and her hand is between her legs.

Continuity: When Chandler talks about parents telling their kids they've sent the dog off to a farm, his right leg is on the floor. In the next shot, it is crossed over his left leg.

Continuity: When Rach gets her first paycheck, the envelope is already open, but she then rips it open.

Continuity: Just before Ross gets hit in the hockey game, you can see him wearing a foam finger which then disappears.

Continuity: When Joey jumps over the sofa to give Ross the tickets, one of the pages of Ross's magazine is sticking out towards him. In the next shot it is gone.

Continuity: When Phoebe talks about the cave in in the mine, Ross has his hands in his pocket behind her. In the next shot his hand is on the sofa.

Continuity: When Rachel explains to her friends about her job, for the first half of the scene there is a cushion behind her back. When Rachel says, "This is what I'm doing now, I've got this job." The cushion disappears.

Continuity: After Rachel speaks to her pregnant friend, they manage to swap places between shots.

Visible crew/equipment: While Chandler is trying to break up with Janice, and Pheobe comes to help, a cameraman is visible in the background (outside of Central Perk) walking from right to left. The camera cuts away from the window angle, then cuts back, showing another cameraman walking from left to right.

Visible crew/equipment: When the horrible woman enters, the boom mike is visible in the mirror at the top of the screen.

Revealing: When Rachel says, "If you want this cart you're gonna have to take me with it.", you can see Ross mouth "with it" behind her.

Continuity: When Rachel is holding the ice pack to Ross's head at the end of the episode, Ross' left hand is lowered, then in the next shot, it is raised to his head.

Continuity: Right at the start in the coffee shop Chandlers legs are always switching position depending on the angle.

Continuity: When Rachel says 'everything looks like jammies now' she is holding up a t shirt. In the next shot as she throws it down, it is now folded up.

Continuity: At the start of the episode when Ross says, "Multiple orgasms", you can see Chandler boot is not resting on his knee. In the next shot it has appeared from nowhere.

Continuity: When Joey and Angela talk in Central Perk, the black waitress with long hair is visible the background of shots of Angela. When we see shots of Joey the same waitress is also behind him near Gunther. She is in two places at once.

Revealing: In the episode where Joey is doubling Al Pacino's butt you can clearly see his shadow when he's shooting the scene in the shower, and he's wearing boxer shorts.

Continuity: In the scene just before Joey goes into the shower, when he is thanking the director for the opportunity, the camera shot goes back and forth between Joey and the director several times. During this series of shots, the part in Joey's hair switches sides nearly every time. It appears that the entire shot is reversed - in the closeup, the shower curtain is on his left and the shadow to his right is sharply focused. In the lower (long) shot, the curtain is to his right, and the shadow on his left is more focused.

Continuity: After Chandler makes the joke about Joey cracking show business, Joey is holding the phone in his left hand. In the next shot, it is in his right hand.

Revealing: After Chandler asks the woman out, he runs back over to the group shouting, "She said yes! She said yes!" As he does this Joey can be seen mouthing the line.

Revealing: When Chandler is choking on the gum, you can see it is still in the left side of his mouth in a huge lump.

Continuity: Rachel takes the cat to apartment number 8 and Mr. Heckles opens the door. However, in this episode, the girls' apartment is labeled number 5 which means that number 8 is above them. In later episodes, Mr. Heckles always says that the noisy girls upstairs are keeping him from doing things. [It makes a bit more sense later on in the series when Monica and Rachel's appartment changes to number 20, which is when Mr Heckles starts to complain about the noise (although in the flash back episode when Phoebe is still living with Monica it seems apparent that they actually know Mr Heckles, which Phoebe shows no sign of when she and Rachel are looking for the owner of the cat).]

Revealing: When Phoebe says something like, "Look, the last candle is about to go out", she starts counting down, saying "-47,-48..." and you can see Monica looking at the candle. But there is a light source behind her (it can't be a candle because she is looking at the last candle).

Continuity: In the scene where Joey is standing with candelight over Ross' neck, the candle is full length, but in the next shot it's only half length.

Continuity: At the end of the episode when Chandler watches Jill leave the bank, his face is pressed up against the centre of the glass door. In the next shot his face is leaning on the metal edge around the glass.

Continuity: After the light come back on and Ross is holding his heart after he sees Rachel kissing Paulo, in the next shot when Joey starts speaking to him his hand is by his side.

Continuity: At the end of the episode, as Chandler turns to the security camera, he is stood right next to the door. In the next shot he has jumped about 2 feet away from the door instantly.

Continuity: At the start of the scene where the group disclose the weirdest place they've had sex is, Monica has her hands together on her lap. In the next shot, they are underneath her legs.

Revealing: When Rachel first meets Paolo she's looking for the cat in candlelight, holding the candle in front of her. You can see her shadow on the wall, as well as the shadow of the candle, revealing that the light is not coming from the candle.

Continuity: When Ross falls into the grave he ends up with a massive mud patch on his knee. He turns over and it's gone.

Continuity: When Ross and Monica are visiting Nana, Ross has his hand on Monica's shoulder. In the next shot it is gone.

Continuity: When Joey shows Chandler the TV in his pocket, at first he takes in out and is holding it in one hand. In the next shot, he is holding it in both hands.

Continuity: Just before the group of guys at the funeral shout about the football, there is a glass of wine next to Monica's mother which is about 1/3 full. After a brief cut away, the next shot shows the glass is almost empty.

Continuity: When Phoebe say 'what a great day' she starts to put her hand to her face, then in the next shot, her sunglasses have jumped to her hand.

Continuity: In this episode, Rachel tells Chandler that she thought he was gay until he spent Phoebe's entire birthday party talking to her breasts. But at this point since Rachel joined the group, Phoebe hasn't had a birthday yet; that occurs some episodes later, in "The One With Two Parts."

Other: When Ross is helping choose a dress and shoes for Nana to wear, he is behind the chest of drawers in the cupboard. He looks in a shoebox and finds lots of pink tickets, then pulls down another box and lots of tickets fall down on him. However, it is obvious that someone is above him showering tickets down, as they are coming from directly above him, not from on top of the door.

Continuity: Chandler is able to get into Monica's apartment to tell everyone that Underdog got away, but later when Rachel closes the door it is now locked. We can see the door as each person is leaving and nobody does anything which could be construed as locking the door before it closes. It's been often demonstrated in the show that the door doesn't lock automatically.

Revealing: Whenever Monica's apartment is shot from the point of view of the balcony looking in, fake walls have to be put up across the room to cover the open space (since there is no wall there usually). When the friends are looking out the window at Ugly Naked Guy and his girlfriend in this episode, you can see that the rear wall does not extend nearly far enough - there is a large black space behind Monica.

Continuity: When Rachel serves Joey coffee after he comes into Central Perk wearing make up, she puts the cup down on the far left hand side of the table. As Joey picks it up, it has moved to the far right hand side between shots.

Continuity: When Rachel gets her mail off Monica she puts it down on the couch and picks up a sealed envelope. The camera cuts and the envelope is now open with no time to open it.

Visible crew/equipment: When Monica shuts the TV off while watching skiing, there is a closeup of the screen as it goes blank. You can see reflected in the blank screen an image of a man in a light blue shirt and tie who does not correspond to any of the characters in the room.

Continuity: At the end of the episode when Chandler makes a toast, he is holding the glass in his right hand. In the next shot, the glass has jumped to his left hand.

Continuity: Just after Chandler explains the situation to Janice, she goes off crying, and Ross takes a photo. The flash is much brighter than it should be - the screen's whited out to disguise a jump cut - after the flash Chandler's noticeably further back than he was before.

Continuity: When Rachel says about her 6th date with Paulo, she is holding a decoration for the tree. In the next shot the decoration changes to a much larger object. Then, in the next shot, as she hands it to Monica, it has turned back to the original shape.

Continuity: When Ross say 'just a smidge' after Rachel says Paulo named her breasts, Phoebe is holding tinsel and Rachel is looking at Ross. In the next shot, Rachel is looking in the opposite direction and the tinsel has vanished from Phoebe's hands.

Continuity: When Joey says to Ross in the hall 'you didn't call and leave your grip size' his arms are folded. In the next shot, his arms are behind his back.

Continuity: When they are all eating at the restaurant and Mrs. Bing is telling Rachel how to write a book, the amount of food on Rachel's plate changes between shots without her touching it.

Continuity: When Joey shows Ross the photo of his parents wedding, Ross is holding a magazine. In the next shot, the magazine is gone.

Continuity: When Joey asks Ross 'how could you let this happen' in the hall, his sleeves are down to his wrists. In the next shot, they are rolled up.

Continuity: In the final scene Rachel passes out copies of her draft for her book. She gives out all her copies and asks for their opinion. However, near the end of the scene after waving her arms around empty handed a copy of her script magically appears in her hands.

Continuity: When Rachel is talking with Phoebe about Paolo,. she unrolls some kitchen paper and uses it as a tissue. Initially she's holding two torn halves attached to the roll, then when saying "He's a pig" it goes to a whole sheet not attached to any others, then when she sits down it's a whole sheet attached to the roll again. Plus when Phoebe sits too, in some shots the paper is on the table, in others it's not.

Continuity: When Ross says he could escape from any uterus, Joey is holding two small books. In the next shot they have vanished and he is holding a large book.

Visible crew/equipment: When Ross is on the balcony trying to comfort Rachel after she has split up with Paolo, we see a couple of shots from the balcony looking into Monica's apartment. If you look at the top of the screen you can see where the walls of the set end, and all the stage lights hanging from the ceiling of the studio.

Visible crew/equipment: When Paulo says goodbye to Phoebe, a boom mic can be seen at the top of the screen bobbing in and out at the top of the pillar.

Continuity: When Ross is on about calling immigration, his hands move with no time to do so.

Visible crew/equipment: When Chandler and Joey are on about buying a table, a line of stage lights is visible in the tv.

Revealing: After Phoebe tells Rachel that Paolo made a pass at her, we see a shot of the outside of Monica's apartment block and Rachel is throwing Paolo's clothes out of the window. Look closely and you can see the clothes have been very badly superimposed on to the background.

Continuity: When Ross visits Carol, he hugs her, and puts his hands on her hips. In the next shot, he isn't touching her and has taken a step back instantly.

Revealing: When Rachel throws Paulo's clothes over the balcony, they land on the corner of the building, yet the balcony isn't near the corner as there are bedrooms between the place where she throws them and the edge of the building.

Continuity: In the one where Ross finds out he's having a boy (series 1), just before Rachel lets it slip, she is sitting on the edge of a chair eating a cookie. Watch her dress, it changes back and forth from being undone from the waist up, to only having two buttons open at the top.

Continuity: During the song at the beginning of the episode, keep your eye on Ross's mug. He is holding it in his lap, then there is a shot of Monica with Ross's empty saucer on the table. In the next shot, the mug has appeared on the saucer.

Continuity: During the scene where Phoebe is telling Rachel that Paolo made a pass at her, Rachel unrolls a long length of kitchen roll. During the scene there is a shot over her shoulder where we see that the kitchen roll is as normal and in the next shot we see it unrolled again.

Continuity: At the end of the episode, when Monica scores a goal against Joey and Chandler, she is playing with the red team and scores with her strikers. In the next shot, a blue midfielder scores the goal.

Continuity: When Paulo is about to get his massage, he puts his hand on his hip. In the next shot, he is leaning forwards and both hands are out strecthed in front of him.

Continuity: After Phoebe tells everyone she broke up with Roger, Monica has her legs crossed and Rachel has them uncrossed. In the next shot, Monica's are now uncrossed and Rachel's are crossed.

Continuity: When Joey finds out that his mother knows about his dad's affair, she tells him she's fine and holds her hands to her chest. In the next shot her hands are outstretched in front of her.

Continuity: When Phoebe's boyfriend is talking about Chandler at the coffee shop, the cookie he is holding jumps from his left to his right hand in an instant between shots.

Continuity: When Phoebe is talking to Roger in Central Perk when she tells him her friends don't like him, he hair tie is half way down her back. When Phoebe tells him she doesn't think he's creepy, her hair tie is just above her shoulder.

Continuity: Just before Carol and Susan enter the restaurant, Ross reaches for the menu with his left hand and his right hand is under the table. In the next shot his right hand is holding onto a cup on the table.

Continuity: In the restaurant when Ross asks Carol to join him, his date has her hand with the chopsticks in it up on the table. In the next shot it is gone.

Continuity: Just after Rachel throws a bread roll at Joey, he turns to Chandler to speak to him. Chandler is holding his hands out in front of him. In the next shot, his right hand is touching his face, then in the next shot, it is lowered again.

Continuity: When the stoned guy says they should make macaroni and cheese, Monica holds out her hands. In the next shot, her hands are clasped together.

Continuity: Just before Chandler tells everyone he quit, he holds out both hands in front of him. In the next shot, his left hand is by his side.

Continuity: When Chandler says he can't work out what he wants to do working at his job, he is standing behind the sofa. In the next shot, he is in front of the sofa sitting down.

Continuity: When Chandler says Ross isn't speaking metaphorically, he gestures with his right hand. In the next shot, both his hands are in his pockets.

Continuity: When Chandler shows Phoebe his office he opens the blinds. In the next shot a pile of books have appeared on the window ledge.

Continuity: When the stoned guy eats all the shrimp ravioli, he eats everything including the garnish. When we next see the plate, the garnish has returned.

Continuity: In the scene where Monica is explaining to Rachel that she has hired her friend Wendy as her waitress, Rachel is holding a water bottle in one hand and the cap in the other. Monica moves towards her and Rachel is pointing her hand in Monica's direction and then in the next shot we see Rachel from another angle and her hand is holding the cap on top of the bottle too fast to have happened in normal time.

Continuity: After Chandler walks in on Ross and Joeys dirty talking, Chandler walks towards the door and Joey turns to Ross. In the next shot Joey has turned around and is facing Chandler.

Continuity: During the scene when Chandler arrives with his test results, Phoebe is reading a book with a red section on the left hand page. In the next shot, the red on the page has vanished. Then, in the next shot, the red page is back again. Also Phoebe's left hand moves between shots.

Continuity: After Chandler walks in on Ross and Joey talking dirty, Ross is holding his right hand up as he and Joey start to explain to Chandler. In the next shot his arm is by his side.

Continuity: When the monkey is hanging off Ross's date's hair, in one shot he is hanging upside down, then in the next he is hanging the right way up.

Continuity: When Phoebe asks Chandler if he wants to be a chef, Monica says 'Hi, there' with her right hand raised. In the next shot, it is on her lap.

Continuity: At the end of the episode when everyone is comforting Monica, Ross has his hand on her shoulder. In the next shot it is above his knee as he stands up.

Continuity: When Chandler is playing with the toy in his office, his right hand moves between shots.

Visible crew/equipment: At the end of this episode when Rachel falls off the balcony, when we are looking out from Mr. Heckles' apartment, a boom mic is visible at the top of the screen just above him.

Revealing: If you look closely you can see that the name of the restaurant "Riff's" is printed on by computer in post-production.

Continuity: Just after Marcel switches the TV to "SAP," Joey comes back and tells Chandler about Ursula and how she gave him extra food. Chandler is holding a bottle of water, and before the camera cuts to Joey it is open, but when he is talking it is capped, and finally when Chandler says "Score," the bottle is open again.

Continuity: At the start of the episode, Chandler is holding onto a menu with his right hand. In the next shot, it is gone.

Continuity: When Ross, Carol and Susan are watching the birth video, Ross has his hand on the fake baby's head. In the next shot his hand is on its shoulder.

Continuity: When Chandler tries to fire Nina, he holds his left hand to his face. In the next shot he is holding his right hand up.

Visible crew/equipment: Just after the credits, before we see a close up of Ross, a boom mic appears at the top of the screen in the centre of the window on the right.

Visible crew/equipment: At the Lamaze class just before Ross and Susan argue about who should lie on the floor, a boom mic can be seen in the top left corner of the screen.

Visible crew/equipment: In Central Perk when Ross realises he's going to be a father, a black and white boom mic can be seen at the top of the screen.

Visible crew/equipment: When Rachel is taking the Christmas lights down, a boom mic is visible as the camera pans down when we first see her.

Continuity: When Ross says he's going to be a father, Chandler drinks from his cup. In the next shot the cup is gone.

Continuity: At the end of the scene where Phoebe goes to speak to Ursula, Ursula has some food on her fork. In the next shot it is gone.

Revealing: In the scene where Phoebe goes to see Ursula at Riff's, Ursula goes to get Phoebe her birthday present. When she sits down, you can easily tell, by looking at all the people there, that the shot has been sped up.

Continuity: After Ross drops the cake, when everyone gathers around the table, there is a shot of Monica with no one behind her. In the next shot, Phoebe has appeared next to the lamp behind Monica from nowhere.

Continuity: Just before Ross drops the cake, Rachel is pouring crisps into a bowl with her left hand holding the bottom of the bag. In the next shot, she is holding the bottom of the bag with her right hand.

Continuity: When Joey is talking to Ross and Chandler about missing Phoebe's birthday, Chandler has the newspaper in his hands. In the next shot, you can see that Chandler does not move at all, then in the next shot, the paper is on the table.

Continuity: When Ross and Jack are talking about becoming a father, Ross takes a drink out of a glass and puts it back down. The liquid doesn't move when put back down.

Continuity: When Joey realises Phoebe and Ursula's birthdays are the same day, Chandler's paper is on the table. In the next shot, It is in his hands.

Visible crew/equipment: The friends are all at Ross' place. Marcel (the monkey) is dancing to the music just before they all play poker (before Rachel enters). However, the reflection of the animal trainer directing Marcel is visible in the TV screen.

Revealing: When Rachel is doing the shuffling trick, it is clear that it is a trick deck. The cards, whilst flying from one hand to the other, change the angle of flight in mid-air, and some of them even move backwards as she moves her hands further apart from each other. This could only happen if the cards were connected to each other.

Continuity: When the group is sitting around the table in Monica's apartment playing poker, Monica is making something to eat. When she puts it on the table and sits back, we can see a pile of plates on the table on her right side. But in the next shot, the plates are gone.

Continuity: When Rachel finds out she has an interview she is holding the letter in her left hand. When the shot changes, the letter is in her right hand.

Continuity: In the scene where Rachel and Ross are playing poker head to head, Rachel borrows $7 from Monica's purse and then puts the purse down on the table. She puts it down on her left hand side but it then switches to her right hand side without her touching it and then back again.

Continuity: After Marcel has escaped from the basement, he is seen eating a banana as a pair of arms reach out to grab him. These arms are supposed to belong to Mr Heckles, their weird neighbour, however the arms clearly belong to a young, large and hair free woman.

Continuity: After Ross asks Marcel to bring him the rice, he picks up his chopsticks. In the next shot, he is holding a napkin.

Continuity: When Ross and Rachel argue about losing Marcel, the bottle of wine Ross re-corks is sitting on the table. Neither of them touch the bottle at any point after this yet when the woman from animal control arrives, the bottle is gone.

Continuity: When Monica looks at Barry and Mindy's engagement notice in the magazine, she folds the page over. In the next shot, the magazine is open in her hands.

Continuity: When Phoebe gets hit with the tranquilizer she falls on the couch with no dart in her leg. When she stands up it appears out of nowhere.

Continuity: When Ross comes back to Monica and Rachel's apartment and Rachel tells him she has lost Marcel, he takes off his overcoat and lays it over the back of the sofa and then sits by it. In the same scene, when the animal control lady arrives, Monica and Phoebe have joined them and they are standing round in the kitchen area. The sofa is still visible in the background but the coat has disappeared without anyone having been near it.

Continuity: When Rachel tells Ross that she lost Marcel, the bottle of wine has the cork sticking half way out. In the next scene which continues directly on from before as Ross and Rachel argue, the cork is back in the bottle.

Continuity: At the end of the episode when Monica say high school wasn't her favourite time, Joey is stood behind the sofa next to Chandler. In the next shot, he has moved to the other side of Phoebe.

Continuity: When Rachel asks Marcel 'did you poo in the shoe?' Marcel is leaning on Rachel's arm. In the next shot he has vanished.

Other: This is the episode where a guy across from Monica's apartment is spying on them. Joey says he caught him spying into his and Chandler's apartment yesterday. This is impossible considering the layout of the building i.e. the fact that the only part of Joey and Chandler's apartment which faces toward the spying guy has the stairwell and hallway blocking it from view (not to mention the protruding part of Monica's apartment). There is another window in Joey's apartment but it faces completely the wrong direction. The bathroom has no windows. The angles just don't add up.

Continuity: When the girls are at the dance club Rachel has a watch on, and it appears and disappears throughout the scene.

Continuity: When Monica, the fake Monica and Rachel are in the girls' apartment talking about the two Monicas auditioning for CATS, Monica (real) has a baguette and a bowl of sandwich filler on the table. In one shot of all three of them, she opens the baguette and starts filling it, then the camera goes in for a close-up of the real Monica and she opens the same baguette and starts filling it again.

Revealing: In the scene when Marcel has to get on the plane. It is obvious that David Schwimmer is just shaking his leg and Marcel is doing nothing besides sit on david's foot. It is especially obvious in the second shot.

Continuity: In the scene when Joey and Chandler come into the cafe to say that Marcel got into San Diego zoo, the man who wants him for animal fighting turns and says that Ross is making a big mistake. At this point the monkey starts to go down Ross's arm and almost drops off but in the next shot he is far up on his shoulder again.

Continuity: When Monica takes off her belt and throws it onto the couch, it lands on Rachel's arm. Throughout the scene, between shots of Rachel and Monica talking, the belt constantly disappears, reappears and changes position without Rachel ever touching it.

Continuity: Monica is in her apartment with her boyfriend and they are kissing, and she invites him to stay the night. Watch the glass of wine she has poured herself: the amount of wine in the glass keeps changing.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene when Rachel is sleeping next to Ross, you can see part of the mattress behind the sofa which cushions his fall later on when he trips.

Continuity: In the scene where Chandler and Phoebe come into the coffee house from Phoebe's first day as his secretary, Phoebe makes no discernible effort to order - but after Chandler says it pays to know the man who wears his shoes the shot cuts to her holding a large latte cup which was not visible earlier in the scene.

Visible crew/equipment: When Rachel is telling everybody about the dream she had with her, Chandler and Joey in it, Ross stands up and starts talking. When he does, the stage lights are visible in the TV.

Continuity: In the scene when Carol is giving birth, there is a shot when Carol shouts "Where were you?" Her trousers are visible under the sheet.

Visible crew/equipment: When Rachel is on the balcony with her date, after she kisses Ross and says, "Wow!", the shot changes back to her date. While he is saying, "Exactly" you can see a camera man on the left side of the screen. Then when the shot changes to show Rachel and her date you can see him move out of the shot.

Continuity: When Paulo comes out of Rachel's bedroom to greet the group, the robe he is wearing is obviously untied and hanging open. After we see how everyone reacted to him being there, we again see Paulo but now the robe is securely tied even though neither he nor Rachel changed positions between shots.

Continuity: At the beginning when Rachel falls and starts bleeding, you can see that the wound is somewhere up above her forehead because the blood is running from the wound up there. However, throughout the rest of the episode she has a bandaid going horizontally across her forehead, nowhere near where the apparent wound was.

Continuity: At the very beginning of the episode, the blood on Rachel's head changes a few times throughout that opening scene.

Continuity: When Chandler has just got back from seeing Joey's 'bad' tailor, Joey says, "That's how they do pants". Chandler turns to look at him twice.

Continuity: At the start of the episode when we first see Carol breastfeed Ben, Susan puts a pillow under Ben's head twice.

Visible crew/equipment: In the first part of the episode, there is no ceiling above the secret closet, revealing a whole lot of stage lights.

Continuity: When Ross thanks Monica for going shopping with his new girlfriend, Monica has her arm up, and the camera cuts, the arm is down with no time to do so.

Continuity: In the scene where Rachel is telling Ross it is sexy for a man to wait before having sex, the cups behind Ross change color: red to green to red and back again.

Continuity: When Pheobe is signing the divorce papers they go from white to blue.

Continuity: When Chandler picks up the phone, he says "Bob here" and Ross is sitting by the bar on the living room side. When the scene starts again after the credits, Ross is getting a drink out of the refrigerator.

Continuity: When Ross is giving his toast to Monica, when he's finished he drinks from his glass. Later when Chandler arrives, it is still at the same level.

Plot hole: Chandler has always loaned Joey money for various things (rent, acting classes, Christmas gifts, etc), so he shouldn't be surprised to learn that Joey doesn't have money for fancy dinners or birthday celebrations. Plus, Joey never seems to have a problem taking money/handouts from Chandler - why now? Also, Chandler explains that they're buying Ross a cake ($20), but why doesn't Monica (the chef and his sister) just make him one?

Visible crew/equipment: In the part where Ross is on the phone to Julie he says "Say hi to Julie in New Mexico". When everyone is shouting "Hi Julie" look above their heads and you will see a boom mic dip into the shot.

Continuity: In the scene where Chandler and Joey want to meet women with Ben, Chandler is holding the baby. A little after Chandler says, "Oh seriously you want him?" The position of Chandler's hands holding Ben changes between shots.

Continuity: When Stephanie is singing "Angel in the Morning", there is a person in overalls sitting behind the green pole. The shot changes to Phoebe outside and you can still see the person; it changes back to Stephanie and the person is gone.

Continuity: When Joey and Chandler are on the bus, they pull up just past a sort of concrete-arch gateway on the right. Then when they chase after the bus, you can see them running towards this archway again.

Continuity: When Rachel is introducing the "professional musician" in Central Perk, just as she walks off a bald black man in a red shirt walks past the window. Then the woman sits on her stool and the man walks past again.

Factual error: In the one where Joey and Chandler lose baby Ben on a transit city bus, they later have to pick him up at the transit city headquarters. The man working there assumes that one of them is the father. There is no way that a city official would just give away a baby without checking for ID or a birth certificate or proof of fathership of the child.

Continuity: When Rachel finds out that Ross and Julie are getting a cat, watch Rachel's neck. When she says "together?" she's not wearing a necklace; cut to Ross and Julie for a fraction of a second, then when it cuts back to Rachel saying "both of you?" she's suddenly wearing a necklace. It then disappears again when she says "isn't that just lovely?"

Other: When Rachel leave her message on Ross' answering machine she mentioned the name Michael after 17 seconds and "I'm over you" after 25 seconds. When Ross listen to the tape he asks "Who is Michael ?" after 8 seconds. Rachel flips the phone out of his hand after 18 seconds so he couldn't heard her "I'm over you".

Continuity: When Rachel finds out that Ross and Julie are getting a cat, watch Rachel's tray. When she says "together?" she's got a towel that is flat; cut to Ross and Julie for a fraction of a second, then when it cuts back to Rachel saying "both of you?" it's now in a pyramid.

Continuity: Ross, Joey and Chandler are in Chandler and Joey's appartment talking about Ross' decision. Chandler has a green bottle in his hand. He puts it down behind the computer by the microwave, but when Ross starts listing Rachel's "cons" the bottle's suddenly at the opposite end of the counter.

Continuity: In the scene where Monica goes to the mocolate interview, at one point she says "absa", then pauses, then says, "lutely". While she is saying this, the mocolate packet is in her hands, but when the shot changes the packet is on the table.

Continuity: When Ross' song for Rachel is playing on the radio, Rachel phones the station. However, the song is cut off before Rachel would be able to explain the situation to anyone.

Continuity: At the very end when U2 are on the radio it shows Rachel picking up the phone to ring the radio station. Without the song skipping it cuts to Ross and straight away the DJ comes on and says that Rachel rang her and told her what Ross did. How did Rachel ring up within the space of a second or two and say what Ross did and get the message through on to the radio?

Continuity: Pheobe says to Chandler that there is no seatbelt as the paramedics had to cut it. Yet a few seconds later you can see a seatbelt.

Continuity: In the scene where Monica and Ross walk in carrying a few carrier bags, Monica takes out a red tin, but in the next shot she is holding two tins (a red and a green). She did not have time to pick up another tin between shots.

Continuity: In the scene when Joey is asking Ross to show him the presents he bought, Joey uncrosses his legs twice.

Audio problem: During the lesbian wedding, whenever we see a shot of Carol and Susan while the minister is talking, her mouth is not moving.

Continuity: When Phoebe gets the kids to sing along to 'That's another thing that you don't wanna do', there is a little boy and girl sitting perfectly still. The shot cuts to a close-up, and one of them is now standing and they are both swaying.

Continuity: The first time Phoebe performs at the library this takes place at the same time Joey is on his date. During Joey's date, it's night time. But, when Phoebe is singing, it's broad daylight outside.

Continuity: When 'Drake' is having dinner with Erica (the stalker), Joey is seen to be wearing a ring on the ring finger of his left hand. This can been seen just before another diner begins to choke. When the episode cuts back to them in the restaurant, the ring is gone.

Continuity: Brooke Shields throws water at Joey, and he gets a large spot of water on his shirt, but in the next shot the spot is much larger than before.
