Continuity mistake: In the scene after Monica pretends to drop socks in the hallway in order to prevent Rachel from telling Ross she still loves him, Rachel goes back into the apartment and locks Monica out. Monica then starts to pound on the door with her bare left hand. The scene changes to the apartment and Ross opens the door to let Monica in. All of a sudden Monica is pounding the door with her right hand wrapped in a sock. (This continuity problem is for the widescreen version, where we see a closeup of Monica not seen on the DVD, in the hallway with a bare hand right before Ross opens the door. However, on the DVD there are extra shots of Ross and Rachel after seeing Monica's bare hand pounding and then seeing her with the sock on her hand, which gives her ample time to put it on). Continuity mistake: Just after Chandler explains the situation to Janice, she goes off crying, and Ross takes a photo. The flash is much brighter than it should be - the screen's whited out to disguise a jump cut - after the flash Chandler's noticeably further back than he was before. (00:17:45)

Continuity mistake: When Rachel explains to her friends about her job, for the first half of the scene there is a cushion behind her back. When Rachel says, "This is what I'm doing now, I've got this job." The cushion disappears. (00:07:40)

Continuity mistake: When Joey is reading his speech about all the giving and receiving, Chandler has his legs on the table at the coffee shop. You can see his shoes on the table when they show Joey, but when they change the shot to Chandler his legs are on the floor and crossed. (00:10:55)
Answer: Usually by the seventh night of Hanukkah you don't know what to get the other person, and you will probably resort to getting the other person something insignificant. Chandler is basically saying that the pen is a stupid gift.
