The One With Phoebe's Dad - S2-E9
Corrected entry: After Ross breaks the radiator in the women's apartment, it gets so hot in there for their Christmas party that all the attendees strip down, some to their underwear. However, when Rachel answers the door to let a couple guests in, her nipples are erect, which would indicate the temperature inside is cold. (00:15:16)
The One With Joey's Award - S7-E18
Corrected entry: Rachel's dress changes before and after going to the awards. (00:09:00 - 00:10:20)
Correction: Nope, you're mistaken. When we see Rachel at the apartment before she and Joey leave, she's not actually dressed yet. She walks out of her bedroom wearing her white robe, gold choker necklace, and blue flip-flops, while holding her makeup bag. Later we see Rachel at the Soapie Awards wearing the red spaghetti strap gown and she's still wearing it when she and Joey get home. Though I have to say, it's very complimentary to the actress that she even looks that great in just a robe.
The One Where Ross Can't Flirt - S5-E19
Corrected entry: Joey's grandmother doesn't understand English, so she shouldn't look when Joey says 'Is that the Pope?' in English.
Correction: While she may not speak or even fully understand English, it's easy for people to understand some words in a different language. She probably recognized "Pope" and that would be enough to make her look.
The One with the Blackout - S1-E7
Corrected entry: Chandler calls Monica to tell he's trapped in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre on a mobile phone, however Monica answers by picking up the house phone. In a power blackout, the phone wouldn't have any power so Chandler shouldn't be able to reach Monica.
Correction: Phones don't lose power during blackouts - regular landline phones are powered over the phone lines from the telephone exchange, which will have backup power available. Cordless phones would lose power, as the base station needs to be plugged in. But in this case Monica is using a wired phone. It's recommended to keep a wired landline phone in the house specifically to use in case of a blackout, as she clearly does.
The One Where Rachel's Sister Babysits - S10-E5
Corrected entry: No piercing studio in the world would pierce the ears (or any other body part) of a one year old without consent of the parents.
Correction: It's true that piercing studios will likely require consent, but if Amy just said, "this is my daughter," I doubt they'd have a policy of requiring a birth certificate or anything.
The One With Phoebe's Uterus - S4-E11
Corrected entry: When Phoebe goes to visit her birth mother in Montauk, her mom says "I wish someone would've been there to tell me how terrible it is to give up babies". The scene cuts to a shot of Phoebe holding the puppy, revealing a side view of a stand-in, not the actress playing her mom.
Correction: It is indeed Teri Garr in the side shot, not a stand-in.
The One After the Superbowl, part 2 - S2-E13
Corrected entry: When Chandler is walking with the door you can see he is not wearing panties but boxers. (00:19:20)
Correction: When Ross and Joey are standing in the bathroom stalls looking into Chandler's stall, since Joey is going commando Chandler offers Ross $50 for his underpants just as the shocked man walks in on them. Even though Ross initially said no to giving Chandler his underpants, we do not hear Ross decline this very generous offer. So in the next shot it's been a little while, and not only do we see that shocked man already seated continuing his meal, we can safely presume the striped boxers that Chandler's wearing actually belong to Ross, who made an easy $50 to help Chandler out.
The One With The Birth Mother - S10-E9
Corrected entry: One of the storylines in this episode is based on Joey not being willing to share food. However in previous episodes he has happily shared food several times.
Correction: Joey is unwilling to share food unexpectedly, i.e. In season 5 episode 20 he is only willing to share a bite of his sandwich to prove how much Chandler means to him. In this episode he is suggested to order an extra chips to share and he happily accepts it, even though that would still be sharing food.
The One With The Cheap Wedding Dress - S7-E17
Corrected entry: Megan tells Monica that she booked the Swing Kings the day of Monica and Chandler's wedding and that she can only have them back if Monica gives her the cheap wedding dress that they both want. But in reality, a professional wedding band would never book a night for a client without receiving a deposit first. It just isn't feasible that Megan would put down a deposit for a band she had no intention of actually using (her wedding wasn't even that same day), especially given that she was looking to cut costs, hence shopping for a cheaper designer dress. There's also the fact that by the end of the episode Monica's booked the Swing Kings but is still in possession of the wedding dress - she could tell Megan to get bent and just keep the dress and the band!
The One With The Truth About London - S7-E16
Corrected entry: When Monica and Chandler are taking their clothes off, Chandler takes his clothes off really fast, and Monica says "wow, you're fast". Then they say that they are about to see each other naked. Monica isn't wearing the top of her dress (a two-piece) any more, but she could only have removed that by pulling it over her head, which she hasn't done.
Correction: The mistake states, "Monica isn't wearing the top of her dress (a two-piece) any more, but she could only have removed that by pulling it over her head, which she hasn't done." This is incorrect. Yes, Monica is wearing a 2-piece outfit, but her sleeveless fitted top has a zipper at the back (down to the hem), and it's removed by her reaching behind and unzipping the back so it's off in a flash. It is not removed by pulling it over the head.
The One with the Candy Hearts - S1-E14
Corrected entry: When Ross comes back from asking out his neighbour at the counter, he has his hand open at one point, pointing down, but then apparently smashes the egg on Chandler. It's clear he never had the egg in his hand as there is no mess on Chandler's vest top either.
Correction: It was in his pocket.
The One with the Monkey - S1-E10
Corrected entry: When Ross comes in with the monkey there is a visible shadow in the bathroom and a crew member is closing the door.
Correction: That's Phoebe not a crew member. She walked to the bathroom after her comment about the name Bethel (00:00:25).
The One Where Monica and Richard Are Just Friends - S3-E13
Factual error: Joey refers to several of his favorite parts of The Shining in 'code', including "all blank and no blank makes blank a blank blank, " which obviously refers to the "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" scene from the movie. However, that scene (and the one where Danny sees the two "blanks" in the hallway) is not found in the book; only in the movie. (00:13:55)
Suggested correction: I know they're talking about the book, but doesn't it actually make sense for Joey to be referencing the movie, even though the conversation is about the book? Considering the character, I don't think that's off at all. He's read the book, but he's obviously seen the movie, too.
Later in that scene, Ross references The Shining as a book Joey loves that stars Jack Nicholson. Therefore, it's safe to assume that Joey has seen the movie and the audience could infer that he may confuse the two often enough for Ross to reference it that way. This might just be another Joey mistake (which he has many) vs a factual error of the show.
The One with the East German Laundry Detergent - S1-E5
Corrected entry: When Rachel says, "If you want this cart you're gonna have to take me with it", you can see Ross mouth "with it" behind her. (00:20:30)
Correction: Ross makes a grimace with his mouth before and during the line but is not mouthing lines.
The One with Two Parts: Part 1 - S1-E16
Corrected entry: The colour of Chandler's suit changes from grey to green while he's trying to fire Nina. (00:11:25)
Correction: Chandler's suit changes because he's wearing different ones over multiple days. He attempts to fire Nina, then chickens out, then tries again on another day and fails, then finally musters the courage to do so on a third attempt after his boss confronts him.
No, if you watch the scene you will see that on the second attempt the suit changes colour between camera angles. This is not because it is different days.
I just streamed it again. I don't see that the suit changes color from grey to green, but it does look different when seen from either the front or the back view. However, it looks like this is just from the set lighting. There's a strong light source coming from the left-hand side that makes Chandler's suit look lighter from the back. The front is more shadowed.
Correction: He wears the same suit throughout the scene, but the light hits it differently when he moves around the office.
The One Where Nana Dies Twice - S1-E8
Corrected entry: When Phoebe says 'what a great day', she starts to put her hand to her face. Then in the next shot, her sunglasses have jumped to her hand. (00:14:20)
Correction: You can see she takes the sunglasses off as she's speaking.
The One With Monica's Boots - S8-E10
Corrected entry: In the scene with Joey's sister where Rachel says 'Give him the sandwich' the bathroom is gone and there are only red bricks. (00:12:19)
Correction: That's not red bricks, it's the shower curtain over the bathtub.
The One with the Blackout - S1-E7
Corrected entry: When Joey walks in holding the candles and says his old roommate was Jewish, Joey's actually holding a kinara for Kwanzaa not a menorah for Hanukkah. There are only 7 candles on the candle holder that Joey is holding and there are 9 on the menorah.
Correction: The 7 or 9 branches have different meanings. The 7 branch menorah represents the one which stood in Jerusalem's temple. The 9 branch is called a chanukiah, and represents the Hanukkah miracle.
The One With The Stain - S8-E7
Corrected entry: In this episode, Phoebe abandons having lunch with Ross because of a date with Eric; however in 'The One With All The Cheesecakes', Phoebe makes a huge speech about how you 'do not cancel plans with friends'.
Correction: "The One With All The Cheesecakes" is one season prior to "The One With The Stain." In the former, Phoebe was tempted to cancel her monthly lunch with Joey, for a date with David. (That's after her speech!) She didn't, but Joey mistreated her anyway. This may have caused her to revise her principle of "do not cancel plans with friends" over the course of one year. But more importantly, Phoebe, a human being, is well capable of overlooking principles for self-interest. What can plausibly be explained by selfishness, forgetfulness and deceitfulness must not be attributed to a filming mistake.
The One Where Ross Can't Flirt - S5-E19
Corrected entry: Joey refers to his Italian grandmother as "Nonni" which in Italian actually means "grandparents." "Nonna" is grandma.
Correction: As most women - or those who spend time around women - could tell you, there's more than one reason a woman's nipples might be erect.
