You can even see steam from compressed air used to shoot the blood up. 111391 In the battle at the cathedral and at the end of the film when the footage is repeated, we see people hacking away at a torn up, dead body. The problem is their swords and axes are not damaging the body at all, revealing everything is a prop of some sort. 111389 In the director's cut DVD, during the big battle at the cathedral, when the man is cut in half, you can see a sheet behind his fake chopped-off legs covering his "real" legs. 111395 There is never a bladed weapon in this movie that isn't blunt. Most of the camera angles are close enough to show that their swords were not sharpened.
