Answer: I came to this forum specifically to find that out. Your answer totally makes sense, however him saying that was very distracting and at that moment you want to be caught up in the drama and not taken back by going " hey what was that about? what does he mean?" I think it's just poor judgment on the writer's part. But now I know...thanks.
Question: In a scene with Rogers, Erskine describes the serum as "good becomes great, bad becomes worse." At the time (as revealed on his medical sheet at the start), he had several things like heart conditions and asthma. Wouldn't these be made worse by the serum?
Answer: No what Erskine meant were personality traits, not physical traits.
Question: Could you really use tracer rounds in the type of machine guns the Germans were firing during the Normandy scene at the beginning of the movie, as seems to be the case?
Answer: Absolutely. There were tracer rounds in ammo belts for the MG42.
Could you fire incendiary rounds as well?
Yes, an MG42 can fire incendiary rounds.
Question: I've only ever guessed this but am I right in thinking that the reason Harry wasn't expelled from Hogwarts because they thought he'd be safe from Black only there? Is that also why they wouldn't overlook Harry's Hogsmeade form not being signed?
Answer: Harry's protection from Black was always the first priority, but the reason Harry was wasn't expelled from Hogwarts was because he never did anything that warranted permanent dismissal. The incident with Aunt Marge was provoked by Harry's family and Dumbledore never would have held him fully accountable. Any other school rule-breaking on his part was never anything more than what other students had engaged in and resulted in being punished in an appropriate way. The school would never have overlooked Harry's unsigned form. If a parent or guardian did not sign it, then the school would not allow a student to participate in any activity that needed parental permission. That was the rule.
Question: I've heard that this movie shows some Ron and Hermione moments that weren't in the book, can someone please tell me what they are?
Answer: The moments are brief but important to those who ship Ron and Hermione. Basically, it's just a few moments where Hermione gets scared and instinctively grabs Ron's arm. That's literally all it is. It happens twice but Ron only reacts the first time. And one more, in the original timeline, when Buckbeak supposedly dies, Hermione shields her eyes behind Ron's shoulder and wraps her arms around his neck while crying.
Question: If everyone believed Sam killed Alan, why did the homeless man at the factory think differently?
Chosen answer: Because not everyone believed the rumor.
Answer: The homeless man seemed to have known Sam a bit better than others. He also took over the factory building so it's possible they were friends and he'd have more accurate info about Sam.
Question: Why didn't they take Snape with them when they were leaving the shrieking shack?
Question: Why didn't the Kothoga kill the German Shepherd dog in the sewers? It killed the other one, but spares this one, despite killing its handler.
Answer: More then likely, the dog was too afraid of the Kothoga to attack it and when the Kothoga saw this, it let the dog live. The other dog was probably unafraid and tried to attack the Kothoga which prompted it to kill the dog; not out of self-defense, but, because there were still people trapped in the museum and the dog was impeding his attack.
Answer: The beast needed human brain cells to survive, not animal cells, it ignored the dog because it wasn't important. After it killed the first one, it knew his canine brain cells would not work.
Answer: It's possible that the human side of the Kothoga, John Whitney emerged and seeing that the dog was afraid decided to let it live feeling pity for it.
Question: Where did the Mül converter, the creature that replicates any product, come from? A lot of people seem to know about it even though planet Mül is unknown and unvisited, and more importantly, completely destroyed. The only survivors of the planet were hidden inside a damaged spaceship along with the only pearl they managed to save, so where did the creature come from? Isn't it native to the planet as well?
Answer: As portrayed in the film, the Mül converter is a native creature from the planet Mül. Given that several decades have passed since the destruction of the planet and its former citizens have been traveling to the stars, it's obvious that over time, other people and races learned about the Mül converter's powers, hence it became sought after on the black market. It was likely among the few beings who were saved before they planet's destuction - the Pearls seemed to keep them as pets, so it's very likely that one or two were brought along when they escaped, even if we didn't see it happen.
Question: This is a two part question. Firstly how many students did Luke have before his academy was destroyed by Kylo Ren? Secondly what will happen to the New Republic now its capital is destroyed?
Answer: Any answer would be conjecture - best just watch the next movie.
Answer: We learn in The Last Jedi that Luke had Ben Solo/Kylo Ren and a dozen other apprentices. Kylo killed 6 of them and took the remaining six as is apprentices, the Knights of Ren.
The knights of Ren are not the six apprentices Kylo takes with him. The knights of Ren are Snoke's followers, dark force users. Kylo joins them and becomes their leader later on.
The Battle - S1-E9
Question: Why didn't Captain Picard activate the Stargazer's auto destruct sequence when he gave the order to abandon ship?
Answer: Probably because he held out hope of one day reclaiming the ship.
The One With Phoebe's Ex-Partner - S3-E14
Question: When I first watched this, the way Joey talked and everyone reacted, I thought he had accidentally thrown Ginger's real leg into the fire, and she got an artificial one later. If Ginger had her fake leg then, why did everyone react the way they did?
Chosen answer: How in the name of heaven would he have "thrown" her real leg into the fire, short of wrenching it off her body? Joey's not a psychopath. They reacted the way they did because he threw her artificial leg, thinking it was a log, into the fire, then ran away, leaving a one-legged woman stranded in a cabin with no means of transportation. A cowardly response, and he clearly feels awful about it after the fact, but that doesn't negate it being a terrible thing to do in the first place - less so the action itself, which was a stupid mistake, but him running away afterwards.
Question: How many hostages did Gruber take in total?
Answer: When John McClane went to the roof to call 911, on the Walkie Talkie, he said that the terrorists were holding 50 or so hostages.
Question: When Harry looks into Voldemort's mind after the diadem is destroyed, Voldemort, having felt that a Horcrux was destroyed kills one of his followers (then later kills Snape). Would the killing of more people have helped Voldemort at all or was his body still only preserved by Nagini and Harry being the last remaining Horcruxes?
Answer: The soul is torn each time someone commits a murder. But one has to put a torn piece in an object for it to be preserved, so simply killing people doesn't help Voldemort.
Answer: Killing more people would not have had any effect on Voldemort. It's not that his body is being preserved, but his soul, which had been divided into eight pieces (with one left in his own body) and each stored in various objects. The soul could only be divided so many times, as each division causes damage to it. He could not have divided it yet again by murdering more people.
Question: How did the ten rings the make the two vehicles explode in the scene where the attack Tony and the military? I didn't see any missiles hit them.
Answer: The Ten Rings terrorists probably had C4 explosive buried under the road and exploded them remotely when the vehicles went over them. The terrorists had planned this assault far ahead.
Answer: It's important to remember that Obediah Stane was secretly supplying the terrorists with cutting-edge military technology produced by Stark Industries (much of it invented by Tony Stark himself). The terrorists didn't need "improvised" explosive devices, because they were using state-of-the-art Stark Industries equipment and ordnance. In fact, just a moment before he is mortally wounded by the anti-personnel explosive, Tony is horrified to see "Stark Industries" printed on the bomb casing.
Answer: The lead vehicle most likely ran over an IED (improvised explosive device) that would have been buried in the road like a landmine. It's also possible the IED was remotely triggered by the terrorist waiting to ambush the group.
Question: How did the morgue director put the explosives in the casket? I thought only Kyle knew the combination.
Answer: He would have planted the explosives into the casket before the body was put in it and when Kyle was not present. Being that he was the mortician, he would have access to the body and the casket to prepare it for transport back to the USA.
Question: The holiday cabin that's built over the well looks 50 years old, but Samara's dad hasn't aged that much since her death, and we're shown her mom pushing her down the well. This makes no sense at all time wise - if she was pushed down the well and the cabin was built on top shouldn't the cabin look almost new?
Answer: A poorly maintained cabin, especially with extensive weather damaged would be difficult to age. The only real clues to its age would be subtle clues, like outdated electrical sockets and their placement, that changed over time. Additionally, a poorly constructed cabin wouldn't age as well. You can find 50+ year old homes that look new and newer homes that look 50+ years old.
Simpsons Already Did It - S6-E7
Question: Butters/Professor Chaos suggests creating a website and posting secrets about everyone in the town. General Disarray says that "The Simpsons" already did it. What episode of "The Simpsons" was this?
Answer: S12e06 "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes." Homer creates his own webpage using the name "Mister X" and eventually begins posting rumors he overhears about others on his webpage (which turned out to be actual secrets, getting the townspeople into trouble). Incidentally, this Simpson's episode parodied "The Prisoner" in the 3rd act, which goes along with what Chef says that the Simpsons also reuse other people's ideas.
Answer: A teaching hospital is a type of hospital, but it would be somewhat similar to a general hospital since they're not specialized in one area. Besides the ER, surgery, and ICU, the hospital contains various other departments, including a psychiatry department.
Answer: It would be considered a non-profit hospital run as a charity. It's also affiliated with a medical school and is a teaching hospital, although which college it is affiliated was never mentioned.
I meant does he work in mental hospital, or a general hospital.
