Revealing: When all of the students are jumping into the water, if you look in the background you can see a modern minibus vehicle, which existed only prior to the 1970's, which is when this movie is set.
Plot hole: Nicholas is hung up by hooks in the same room that Dr. Junju is shot. Even though the hostages can see into this room, as evident by the shot shown when Dr. Junju is killed, no one appears to notice when Nicholas is hung up.
