Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Eddie Murphy is on a duck hunting trip with a bunch of gun lobbyists, the lobbyists are firing their M16 rifles at a bunch of ducks that are flying by. You can clearly see them squeezing the trigger and not a single shell case is coming from the chamber of the gun. Also, when you fire a gun there is usually smoke from the muzzle but in the movie there is no smoke, yet you hear the sound of several guns firing.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Congressman Dodge and Johnson are having a nightcap, Dodge pours two glasses of liquor, and sets the bottle down three quarters of the way full. In the next shot the liquor bottle is almost empty.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where the congressmen are playing cards, Johnson is shuffling. The first shot shows three stacks of chips on the table to the right of Johnson. The closeup shot on him shuffling shows the chips are directly under his right arm and hand. This same sequence takes place in the two other shots as well.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Congressman Johnson and his staff are using the elevator to go to his office: as the doors close, VanDyke is seen standing in front of the Congressman and next to the operator. In the very next shot, VanDyke is seen standing to the right of the Congressman in the corner behind the operator.

Mistake Factual error: In the scene when Congressman Johnson is in a meeting with Pro-Bono advocate, Celia Kirby, He brings the topic of auto insurance up and asks her assistant, Ira, how much he pays. Ira states he has a '82 Dodge Dart. Dodge did not make an automobile of that particular model, in that year.
