Mistake Factual error: During the scene where the platoon is stopped by the large lake on their 15 mile hike Christopher Walken says, "You must have been in the first World War." WWI and WWII were not referred to that way until years later.

Mistake Other: At the beginning of the film, young men headed to basic training in Biloxi, Mississippi are shown on a train crossing a river. The name of the train is visible and easy to read. At the end of the film, the men are leaving Mississippi. The scene shows the train crossing the same river, but the name of the train is backwards. The director must have wanted to save money, and reversed the film for a mirror image.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Christopher Walken is to do pushups in the rain, the military ribbons over his left breast pocket appear and disappear depending on the shot.

Mistake Audio problem: When Christopher Walken first meets the men he says "Attention". They don't respond so he says a firmer "Ten-Hut". The words Ten-Hut were dubbed in as his mouth movements show that he actually said Attention again.
