Factual error: During the movie's opening credits, Julia Stiles' character is shown auditioning for Juilliard, which is misspelled as "Julliard" on a sign outside the room where the audition is occurring.

Visible crew/equipment: About half way through the movie, Sarah and Derrick are at Sarah's apartment and she tells him that her father has a good stereo system. When she turns it on, you can see the reflection of the pole that holds the boom mike in a framed picture of a woman's face just to the upper right of her head.

Continuity: In the scene when Sara gets off from the train and her father asks her how many bags she has, she says that she has two small ones and a big one. But when they walk into their apartment, you can see that she has one small one and two big suitcases.

Continuity: In the scene where Derek and Sarah are practicing her watch is on one hand then she sits down the watch is on the other hand without having enough time for them to be changed.

Visible crew/equipment: When Sarah and her dad are first walking up the stairs to the apartment building, you can see Sarah and her father step over the camera and the camera man on the stairs.

Continuity: In the beginning of the scene when Sarah and Chenile are walking to the club on the sidewalk, there are two people behind them. When Chenile hands Sarah her fake i.d, Sarah stops and the people try to walk around them. Yet,two shots after that one, the same two people are far behind them.

Revealing: Near the end of the movie when Sara is auditioning for the second time she does a flip during her contemporary piece. If you look carefully you can see hair which is not in a bun, but in a pony tail, as Sara has her hair in a bun. This may be Julia Stiles double.

Continuity: When Sarah is getting pushed around by Maliki in the bathroom her hair is all in her face, then when she goes to move it out of her face, it is already back.

Continuity: When Sarah first goes to the club you see many people street dancing and a lot of close-ups on other people in the club. Well at the end of the movie when Derek and Sarah are dancing you can see the street dancers and all of people from the club earlier wearing the exact same things that they wore in the beginning.

Factual error: It's established that the kids live in and go to school on the South Side (south of the Loop), and much is made of the fact that Malachi has nothing but his "respect" within his neighbourhood. At the movie's end, where Malachi wants Derrick to accompany him on the robbery/murder, he tells Derrick "Meet me at 47th street, under the El." Yet when Derrick runs off and jumps on the train to go meet Sarah, we see him getting on a Brown Line train - those trains can only be found on the North side, miles and miles away from 47th street. In addition, his train is shown heading SOUTH toward the Loop, which means in order to be going that direction on that train he'd have rode on the train for about an hour, past the Loop entirely, then gotten off and turned back around toward the Loop again.

Continuity: In middle of the film when Sara decides to go back to ballet, she unwraps her pointe shoes and slips them on. As she puts them on you should see the elastic strap that goes across the top of her foot as she puts the shoes on, but it's not there until she starts wrapping the ribbons around her ankle - then the elastic suddenly appears.

Revealing: When Sara is auditioning for Julliard, after she does the grand jete at the end of her ballet piece, you can clearly see that the girl doing the grand jete is not Julia Stiles.

Continuity: When Derek and Sarah are waiting for the bus, as it pulls up it has 3 numbers as the bus number. As the shot switches to the other side of the bus the numbers are completely different.

Continuity: In the scene where Shanelle and Sara are in the clinic with the baby and they argue, Sara leaves and Shanelle is looking at her. There is a close-up of Sara about to walk out the door and in the background you can see Shanelle staring off into space the other way, and then a split second later there is a close-up of Shanelle and now she is looking at Sara again.

Continuity: At the beginning of the movie when Sara is riding the train, the engine switches from back to front a few times.

Continuity: This mistake occurs when Julia Stile's character, Sarah, is arguing with Derrick in English class near the beginning of the movie. If you look closely at his name tag/student card it flips from the front (with his picture) to the back (with nothing on it) several times after the camera returns to him.

Factual error: In the beginning of the movie when Sarah gets off the train she tells her father that she has two small bags and one big one but she was riding a Metra train and you cannot check baggage on a Metra train.

Continuity: Sara goes to Chenille's the first time by walking under the "L". After Derek walks her home, he leaves in the opposite direction. After the ballet, Derek leaves again in the opposite direction.

Continuity: When Sarah first goes to school, she has to go through a security check. When she gives her bag to the security guard to be checked, the man opens all of the zips on the bag. The bag is then handed back to Sarah, but when she puts the bag bag on her back, the zips are done up without her having time to do them up.

Continuity: In the scene where Sarah whips out her $20 bill she hands it to Snook. He then takes it and has it in his hands. From one moment to the other, somehow, The $20 bill ends up in his hat without him even putting it there.
