The twin doors in the bedroom fly open, and as a result the curtains are opened and pulled behind each of the doors as the owl flies through. However in the close-up of the owl attacking Sarah the curtains are visible and they are now blowing in front of the open doorway. Then as Jareth's shadow is seen on the rug, it's clear that the curtains are pulled apart by their shadow, which is also the case in the next shot of Jareth standing in the doorway with the curtains indeed pulled behind the doors. Trivia
When David Bowie is wiggling the crystal ball on his hands/fingers in front of Jennifer Connelly (the gift he offered Jennifer Connelly in the beginning of the film, so she would give up the search for her brother) it is in fact someone standing behind him whose arms are David Bowie's pretend arms, as it is very difficult to do for a 'lay' person and even the artist (who couldn't see what he was doing) wasn't perfect, as it required numerous takes to get it right. Continuity: When Sarah is telling the story to Toby, she stands in front of the mirror, and puts Toby's stripy hat on. In one shot, she pulls it to the back of her head, but in the next shot, it's pulled down on her head, as normal.
