Legolas: Final count, 42.
Gimli: 42, now that's not a bad score. I myself am sitting happily on 43.
[Legolas pulls out an arrow and shoots the Urukhai body Gimli is sitting on]
Gimli: He was already dead.
Legolas: He was twitching!
Gimli: He was twitching because he's got my axe embedded in his nervous system!
Mistakes
In the scene where Frodo slides down the hill to get to Sam, when he reaches him, in this first shot, it is open ground, and very rocky around them. Frodo then conceals themselves under his cloak. When the two men are standing near them, looking around, the area behind Frodo and Sam is very steep, with a few large boulders right next to them. After Frodo lifts up his cloak, and starts to pull Sam's hand, the area is the same as in the first shot. AS he's pulling Sam's hand, the area and background around them, changes yet again, in this last close-up of them. See more...
Trivia
While they were waiting between takes on set, the extras who portrayed the Uruk-hai at Helm's Deep started chanting, singing and tapping their spears on the ground, to the beat of their singing (probably due to the fact that many of the extras were Maori, the native people of New Zealand, and the chanting was a Maori haka). This is how the idea evolved for Peter Jackson to use it in the movie. It developed into the dramatic piece of the chanting and pounding of spears, by the Uruk-hai, at the stand off in Helm's Deep. As heard on the Appendices DVD. See more...
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Continuity: Merry wakes up to find Pippin drinking the Ent water. During this scene, Merry's cloak changes, to either with or without leaves on it and the amount and position of the leaves vary too.
