When, the LAPD "Air One" helicopter contacts Long Beach Tower for permission to proceed over the airfield in pursuit of Eleanor, he is denied clearance. I am a pilot myself. Whether or not they were the LAPD, they had already violated Class "C" airspace in their pursuit. Any inbound aircraft, fixed wing or rotor, must contact approach within a three to five mile radius of the airfield. This chopper is less than half a mile from the active runway when it asks for clearance. Even if it was a national security issue, only the Secret Service could override ATC. See more...

Trivia

13 Mustangs from 1967-1968 were modified to be "Eleanor" in the movie. One was a True Shelby GT500, but this was used by Bruckheimer as a reference piece and used by him personally. The rest were run of the mill Mustangs modified with bodykits and other goodies. One was chopped up to film certain sequences (in car shots, etc.), 2 were destroyed, and the other Mustangs were modified to perform certain tasks (Chases, Jumps, etc.). See more...

During the first chat between Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie (she's under the car) there are a number of wrenches or tools that can be clearly seen by Jolie's character when she is on the ground. Every time the camera cuts from Jolie to Cage, then back on to Jolie, the tools are always in a different position or place than they were a second ago. First, they are together, then they are far apart, then they are in a different direction, and so on.
