Pippin: They think we have the Ring!
Merry: Shhhh! As soon as they find out we don't we're dead!
Mistakes
The bodies and rocks behind Gimli change positions, between shots. When Gimli says the words, "That's not bad for a pointy-eared Elvish Princeling," there is a rock right behind Gimli to his right. In his close-up it's not there. Yet, when the camera does another close-up, when he reacts to the arrow between his legs, the rock is to his right again. When Gimli says the words, "I myself am sitting pretty on forty three," behind him to his right, a Rohan turns over the body of an Uruk onto its back. When Gimli says the words, "He was already dead," that Uruk hasn't been turned over. See more...
Trivia
Gimli's prosthetic forehead had become detached by the time they were to shoot him in this scene. The senior prosthetics supervisor got on his stomach behind Gimli and pulled on a rope that was attached to the back of the prosthetic in order to pull the wrinkles out of Gimli's forehead and keep it in place. Art Director Ben Price is the very dead twitchy Uruk-hai that Gimli is sitting on. Commentary, extended DVD. See more...
When the Uruk-hai stop to rest by Fangorn Forest, they drop Merry and Pippin right next to each other, yet Pippin then has to crawl some distance towards Merry so that he can speak to him. [On the Extended DVD, Peter Jackson says that parts of this scene were shot two years apart, and that in fact it was made up of shots for two distinct scenes. Either of these might explain this discontinuity in positioning.]
