When Kryten is doing his driving test, as soon as we see Rimmer & Kryten in the cockpit you can see the wire attached to Chris Barrie behind him, next to the aerial on his hat, going vertically out the top of the frame. When it comes to the actual ejector seat gag, put it in frame-advance and you will clearly see the wire again for a couple of frames. You can tell it's not the aerial because Chris is looking up at the time meaning the aerial on his hat would now br horizontal (and hidden by his head). See more...
Trivia
"Meltdown" was originally planned to be the first episode of Series IV of Red Dwarf. However, the militaristic tone of this episode - and in particular Dave Lister's strident anti-war speech near the end of the episode - meant it fell foul of the BBC censors. The original planned transmission date (Feb 14 1991) coincided with the outbreak of "Operation Desert Storm" - the Gulf War...and the BBC felt that an "anti-war" episode of Red Dwarf would be inappropriate for a country at war with Iraq.
