Mistakes
In 1638, a mathematician calculates that the asteroid will return in 350 years time, on the 23rd of November 1988. But in 1752, Britain's calendar was moved forward 11 days so that it matched with that of the Vatican. This means the asteroid would return on 4th December, so everything that is supposed to happen in this story after 1752 is 11 days out. See more...
Trivia
The Doctor Who story "Fury From the Deep" was the first to feature the Doctor's favourite gadget, the "Sonic Screwdriver". The "Sonic Screwdriver" has popped up in Doctor Who stories many times since...even as recently as the 1996 TV Movie of Doctor Who (the one that starred Paul McGann as the Doctor). Sadly, it cannot be seen in "Fury from The Deep" as every episode of that story was destroyed by the BBC in 1977. See more...
Doctor Who (1963) - The Caves of Androzani (S21 E6)
The boom mike is visible at the top of the screen when one of Jek's androids is handing spectrox to the mercenaries. The shadow of the boom pole is also visible on the roof beam.
