In 1638, a mathematician calculates that the asteroid will return in 350 years time, on the 23rd of November 1988. But in 1752, Britain's calendar was moved forward 11 days so that it matched with that of the Vatican. This means the asteroid would return on 4th December, so everything that is supposed to happen in this story after 1752 is 11 days out. See more...
Trivia
Many people have commented on how similar the Kandy Man was to the Bertie Bassett character used to promote Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts. One of those people was the chairman of Bassett's, who wrote to the producer of Doctor Who to complain that his company's trademark had been infringed. The BBC Copyright Department replied that they believed that no infringement had occurred, although they did promise that the character would not be used again in the future. See more...

Other: Episode - The Five Doctors. The Cyber Leader is supposed to follow The Master's footsteps exactly in order to get across the chessboard. He doesn't. This cannot be classed as a character mistake because the Cyber Leader knew what was involved. I believe this mistake was caused by the actor not being able to see the chessboard through his helmet.
