"The Man With The Golden Gun" was originally intended to have appeared much earlier in the Bond movie series than it did. A complete script was written in late 1966, and "...Golden Gun" was to have been the fifth Bond adventure. Shooting was planned to begin in Cambodia in the Spring of 1967. When the AMC Matador arrives in the hangar and begins attaching the jet plane equipment, we see a bracket welded to the lower rear quarter panel, just behind the door. The wing supports swing down to attach at this point on both sides of the car, yet these brackets were not on the car in any prior shot.
