iCarly (2007)

Show generally

Question: So what exactly did happen to Carly's parents that she is left with her brother, Spencer? I think in one episode Carly mentions the Marines or something, but that still doesn't answer where her mom is.

Answer: Their father is in the military and is on a submarine and the mother is never mentioned.

Question: I never understood this part of the movie, but can someone explain why the Bride is weeping and saying 'thank you' on the bathroom floor the next morning?

Answer: She's saying "Thank you" because she has completed her quest. Her tears are happy tears. She exacted her revenge on the people who hurt her and she now has her daughter; something she never expected as she assumed B.B. was dead.

Toy Story 2 (1999)

Question: When Al is talking to the Japanese man on the phone, he ends the phone call with "Don't touch my mustache." What does he mean by this? Is this a Japanese term that sounds like don't touch my mustache? (Similar to when everybody yells "have a paper bag!" at Harryhausen's in Monster's Inc?)

Answer: "Douitashimashite" is the Japanese word for You're welcome. Phonetically, it sounds like "Don't touch my mustache." It's how we were taught to say it while living in Japan in the military. If you say it fast enough, you can sound like you are pronouncing the word decently enough (although clearly not THAT accurately.)

The Incredibles (2004)

Question: The trivia for Toy Story 2 said that Andrew Stanton has a voice in every computer animated film. Who does he voice in this movie?

Answer: IMDb just says additional voices, nothing specific.

Shannon Jackson

Question: I was told that some of this movie was actually shot in Rhyl (North Wales). Since the credits on my downloaded movie were cut, I was wondering if you could help me find an answer to my question. Thank you.

bunnehb

Chosen answer: According to IMDb, the movie was shot in Vermont and Rhode Island. No international locations were used.

Shannon Jackson

The ice cream scene (when Irene kicks Hank in the face) is the Ben and Jerry's factory in Waterbury, VT. The train station fight scene at the end is in Burlington, VT.

Answer: It may be an evening affair.

Chosen answer: It's possible. Some brides will agree to get married on a weekday in order to have it at the location they really want. Some places book way in advance and are hard to book.

Shannon Jackson

Answer: Sometimes it is cheaper to hold a wedding on a weekday rather then the weekend.

General questions

I saw part of this movie on TV about a year ago and I can't find it anymore. Set in the future, these scientists had an alien that was red headed and looked like a human in a glass container. She escaped it and climbed out of a window. She was very high up, she jumped off, and she landed on a flying taxi cab that I think was being driven by Adam Sandler. She didn't speak English, but saw a sign that said "Please Help" so she said "Please help" in poor English to the taxi driver. He was then chased by the cops in flying police cars, and when he and the alien escaped, he brought the alien to his house. That's all I remember of it. I don't remember the year it was made, but judging by the special effects it had to be made sometime this decade or maybe late 90's.

Answer: The movie is The Fifth Element and it stars Bruce Willis and Mila Jovovich.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Question: Where do the staff and crew of Jurassic Park go after the dinosaurs escape? I mean you see a staff member tending to the triceratops, there were many scientists in the dinosaur lab, and would assume that there would be many more people on the island but they are nowhere to be seen after the dinosaurs escape.

Home Alone (1990)

Question: Why does Kevin scream when he slaps the aftershave on his face? He didn't shave so he doesn't have any cuts, so it wouldn't burn at all.

Carl Missouri

Chosen answer: Kevin did shave his face. His skin is sensitive from his first shave so the alcohol in the aftershave makes his face sting. Hence, the screaming.

Shannon Jackson

Answer: The high alcohol content could hurt/sting a very sensitive (such as a kid's) skin even without cuts or abrasions.

General questions

I only saw a few minutes of this movie on TV once. It's probably in the sci-fi genre. There was a high school or college-age boy with very white skin and red lips, and I think he was bald. I saw a scene where he was in a classroom and the other students started making fun of him. Thanks if you can make a guess.

Answer: I think the movie you are thinking of is Powder with Sean Patrick Flanery. His mother had been hit by lightning while on the way to the hospital to give birth. This resulted in him having abnormal powers and the pale skin and bald head.

The 10th Kingdom (2000)

Question: I'm confused about how Snow White is Wendell's grandmother. The queen mentions her wedding, but Wolf says that dwarves brought her body to the hill in Kissingtown, in case a prince can wake her. She must have gotten married and had a child if Wendell is her grandson, so why is her body still at the hill?

Answer: The dwarves brought her to Kissingtown after she ate the poisoned apple the queen gave her to wait for a prince to come and save her. It's only after she is kissed that she awakens, marries the prince and then has her children. The scene with Virginia in the cave is a vision and not real. Snow White (or her ghost in fairy godmother form as she called it) is there to help Virginia stay strong and complete her journey by giving her advice and help.

Scream (1996)

Question: Is it true that near the end of the movie, Skeet Ulrich really cries out in pain (not acting), because Neve Campbell accidentally hit him in an area where he was once injured in real life?

Answer: This is according to IMDb: When Sidney comes out of the closet and stabs Billy with an umbrella, the stunt man was supposed to hit a pad on Skeet Ulrich's chest. The first hit got the pad but the second one slipped and hit him in the chest (you can see it in his reaction). Wes Craven kept it in because of its authenticity.

Shannon Jackson

Answer: Yes, confirmed by Wes Craven in the DVD commentary as well. Skeet Ulrich had open-heart surgery when he was 10 and there's a stainless steel wire in his chest that causes excruciating pain when touched. The stuntwoman was wearing the mask, which impairs vision quite a bit, and the second time around she really hit that sweet spot that caused the reaction you see in the movie.

Watchmen (2009)

Question: In the scene where Silk Spectre shoots Ozymandias and he catches the bullet, can someone please explain where the gun just suddenly came from? Earlier in the film when she is escaping her government handlers she is shown briefly holding an automatic pistol but the one she shoots Ozymandias with is a revolver, and besides, there isn't exactly much space in her costume for concealing anything.

Answer: This is from IMDb and they list it as Incorrectly regarded as a goof because: "It is hard to catch, but she takes this from a guard at Sing Sing during the breakout of Rorschach. Later it can be seen tucked away in her belt."

Watchmen (2009)

Chosen answer: Do you mean how is it made? The explanation given is that he was working as a manual laborer in the garment industry when in 1962 "Special order for a dress in new Dr. Manhattan spin-off fabric. Viscous fluids between two layers of latex, heat and pressure sensitive." The girl who ordered it thought the dress was ugly and never picked it up. Rorschach used the material to make his mask.

Question: What was Sheriff of Nottingham trying to do to Marian in the church, (when he's on top of her trying to hold her down)in the middle of their wedding? At first I thought he was trying to rape her but he would hardly do that in front of a priest in a church.

Answer: That's exactly what he's trying to do. He doesn't care what the priest thinks. He wants to consummate the marriage so it can't be considered invalid. A marriage could be annulled if a couple didn't consummate the marriage.

Rome (2005)

Show generally

Question: Was Series 2 shortened? Series 1 had 12 episodes vs 10 for Series 2. Also some of the subplots in Series 2 didn't really go anywhere and were tied up abruptly, e.g. Tyman killing his brother.

Answer: The show became too costly to produce so they ended the season early to save money.

The Fifth Element (1997)

Question: When Korben speaks to Finger, they state that Finger was in his unit: "...sat beside you for over a thousand missions. I know how you drive." Two questions: Who does the voice of Finger, and does that not negate the 3rd reason why Korben was chosen for the mission, that no one else in his unit survived?

TheBurts

Chosen answer: 1. IMDB doesn't list anyone in the credits for the role of Finger. 2. Military members often serve in more than one unit over the course of their careers. I was in for four years and was with two different units and Korben was in for much longer. Finger and Korben could have been in a unit together then one of them transfered to a different unit later on.

Shannon Jackson

Answer: Finger is an uncredited voice performance by Vin Diesel.

This has never been confirmed, and is speculation at best. Also, while Finger sounds vaguely like Vin Diesel, the voices are different enough that it's unlikely to be him.

Quills (2000)

Question: When Maddie leaves Abe's bedroom (after they shared a quick kiss), he rushes back out and calls her. Why does he call her back? If he wanted to say something to her, why not say it when she was in the room?

Answer: Because he apparently had to work the courage up to say whatever it is he wanted to say. He was conflicted in his feelings for Maddie. He's a priest and isn't supposed to 'want' her the way he does. Catholic priests take a vow of chastity and he was trying to deal with his feelings as a man and his vows as a priest.
