License to Drive (1988)

Factual error: Once the cop sees Mercedes' body in the trunk, Les and his friends would likely be charged with kidnapping, which is a felony. Les and his friends would then be charged as adults.

Suggested correction: Les and friends had no criminal intent to engage in kidnapping, which typically involves demanding a ransom, which they also were not seeking. As odd as it was, Mercedes was put in the trunk, at least in part, for her own safety/protection. Even a charge of false imprisonment or unlawful restraint would not be likely to result in any conviction (or adjudication in juvenile court) because Les and his friends lacked the necessary mens rea or guilty mind. They might be "in need of supervision."

Police Academy (1984)

Question: A few cadets had a fight in the cafeteria. Wouldn't they be expelled from the academy?

JeffSteele

Answer: In the universe of the film, the rule seems to be that if a cadet initiates a fight, he or she will be expelled, while anyone else involved would not be (since they were merely defending themselves). That's why Blankes specifically goads Mahoney by saying "Go on, you throw the first punch," and when they are later brought before Harris, he simply asks, "Who threw the first punch? That's all I want to know."

Chosen answer: Not necessarily. They would likely face some sort of disciplinary review, and, if found responsible, receive sanctions ranging from a warning, probation, retraining, dismissal, and so on.

Answer: Harris finally got the chance to kick Mahoney out, so he didn't care about the others.

Sudden Impact (1983)

Answer: Probably, but action/police movies often are unrealistic about depicting laws and police procedures.

Stripes (1981)

Factual error: During basic training, civilian clothes are locked up in a storage room; therefore, none of the troops would have access to them.

Stripes (1981)

Factual error: Basic training platoons are assigned two or three drill sergeants. An injury to one drill instructor does not mean the platoon would finish training on its own.

National Security (2003)

Factual error: When Hank is let out of solitary confinement, he punches the guard. A prisoner would never have the chance to attack guards while in solitary confinement because he/she is cuffed while still in the cell. Also, there are always at least two guards for escort, not one.

Cobra (1986)

Revealing mistake: As the bad guys' Ford pickup flips end over end, the device making it flip is briefly visible. Also, the "bad guys" still in the truck turn out to be dummies.

License to Drive (1988)

Revealing mistake: The "unconscious" driver can be seen turning his head toward Les at least twice as Les tries to get in the car through the window. But, obviously, he's making sure he's keeping the car in the right place.
