Continuity mistake: When Bob Seidman comes to invite Andy to Wheeler's office the chopsticks in Andy's Chinese takeaway change from sticking out together to being separated from one shot to the next. (00:08:45)

Other mistake: In the library Joe quotes from a law book: "...the prejudice surrounding AIDS exacts a social death which precedes the physical one...". The subtitles read: "...which proceeds the physical one...", which is grammar- and otherwise wrong. (00:37:50)

Continuity mistake: Joe is eating something in the library before he approaches the table where Andy is sitting. When he gets up his mouth is still full to the brim, but in the next shot a second later he greets Andy and there are no traces of food left in or around his mouth. (00:34:00)

Continuity mistake: In the library scene, before Joe approaches Andy, we see him working. There's a pile of books on the table whose backs are turned away from the camera. Joe looks over to Andy who is briefly in the picture, and when the camera cuts back to Joe the pile is turned around and the backs are visible. (00:32:05)

Revealing mistake: When Andy comes to Joe's office to ask for representation his head is shaven. The transitition of artificial scalp to Andy's neck is pretty badly done, and it looks almost disgusing when he is standing in front of Joe's office after he has been declined. (00:28:30)

Continuity mistake: When Andy talks to his mother on the phone about the latest news on his illness she asks him "How are your platelets?". The subtitles read "How are my platelets?". (00:07:50)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: At the German HofbrÀuhaus party Homer talks to Eddie about getting back to work. In the background we see his old friend Betsy, who, after a short close-up on Homer, appears from the left to ask him for a dance, while there are totally different people in the background. Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: During the wake scene Homer's hair is combed flat. When he leaves the church it's standing up quite messily. (01:22:40)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: When Eddie sees the Jesus impersonator for the first time in a side road she asks Homer to back up. The stretch he reverses is much shorter that what they had covered since they passed the crossing. (01:10:20)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Factual error: For someone who has been given one more month (minus the two weeks since her escape from the closed ward) because of a brain tumor Eddie looks way too healthy. (01:03:20)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Question: In the scene in Joe's bar there's a jazz singer named Mae Mercer. I could swear that the voice is the absolutely unique one of Nina Simone's, even the way she plays the piano, but there is no hint either in the cast or the list of song. I'd like to hear other people's opinion on that. (00:49:55)

NancyFelix

Chosen answer: Just my opinion: Mae Mercer is a great jazz singer - and there is a soundtrack of this movie, just in case someone wants to check it out - and I am sure she was the one singing.

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: The establishing shot of the quay scene shows a close-up of a flock of seagulls. However, as the scene goes on we don't see any birds at all even when the camera shows the whole quay, but we hear them shriek. Only during the credits there is a skipped shot of the quay where it's crowded with seagulls. (00:57:20)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: When Homer drives off when they leave Summit Inn in the snow, he skids across the parking lot of the hotel, but a bit later it looks more like a frozen pond. As a pond could not be at level with the road and they didn't go down any slope this is a strange transformation. (00:40:10)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Other mistake: Eddie describes her brain tumor as inoperable because her brain wraps itself around it like jellyfish. The German subtitles translate 'jellyfish' into 'eel in jelly'. (00:37:20)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: The blood stain on Eddie's bandage disappears in the roadside brothel and reappears in Summit Inn. (00:26:10 - 00:33:40)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: When Eddie tells Homer about the Wady robbery while they're driving along, there's a change from broad daylight to late dusk in mid-sentence. (00:33:05)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Revealing mistake: When Eddie shoots the cashier at the Wady liquor store he falls backwards into a shelf with whiskey bottles. You hear some bottles break and see some splinters flying, and then there comes a Niagara-style whiskeyfall pouring over the shelf that must have come from a large reservoir behind. (00:30:40)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Other mistake: When Eddie does her first liquor store robbery in Wady she shoots at the cashier because he looks at the gun that's placed under the cash register. We get the impression that she spots the gun too, but she doesn't bend over the counter enough to be able to see it. (00:30:35)

Homer & Eddie (1989)

Continuity mistake: In the scene at the roadside bathroom Eddie is scared by the sound of a jet, thinking it's an earthquake. There's a very short cut to the aircraft, then back to Eddie, and all of a sudden she is not wearing her cap and hood anymore, for which there was neither a reason nor sufficient time. (00:20:15)

Continuity mistake: When Homer and Eddie have lunch on their first stop the pizza on the plate between them switches back and forth between untouched and half eaten. (00:15:15)
