Blithe Spirit (1945)

Blithe Spirit (1945)

Other mistake: When Charles tries to see if he can touch Elvira, he puts his hand behind hers, but we can't see the bits of his hand that are behind hers. Since she is a ghost we should be able to.

Blithe Spirit (1945)

Character mistake: When Charles comes down to breakfast the evening after Elvira arrived, he comments to Ruth what a wonderful day it is, "not a cloud in the sky." But that's wrong; there's a low cloud bank and the rest is murky and gloomy.

Drowning Mona (2000)

Stupidity: Phil and Rona are in their usual cabin for their usual get-together when Phil tries to tell Rona that Mona is dead, but Rona says, "You'll find me floating at the bottom of the Hudson." If you are floating in a body of water, you are on the top, not the bottom.

Blade Runner (1982)

Other mistake: When Deckard puts a photo into a machine that rests on top of a monitor, he then speaks where he wants the camera to go, zoom in, go out, up or down or across, etc. In one instance, he doesn't speak, but the machine works on its own.

Tequila Sunrise (1988)

Question: When Nick goes to the restaurant when it is closed for the day and night, and Nick has tried to explain everything to Joanna, then she has to answer the phone, why does the camera zoom in on a pair of sunglasses at the far end of the bar?

kh1616

Chosen answer: It's not the sunglasses. It's the matches. Nick is acting as though he is coming closer to Joanna to get a pack of matches, which she then notices he already has. She realises that he is trying to eavesdrop on her conversation, and although she was previously buying his apology her demeanor changes drastically once she is finished with the phone call.

Oh my gosh, thank you! One of my favourite movies, yet I didn't get this scene.

Answer: They are zooming in on the lighter not the sunglasses. He approaches her to pretend he needs matches in order to overhear who she is speaking with, she notices the lighter and that he didn't need to move from his seat, he already had a way to light his cigarette.

The African Queen (1951)

Revealing mistake: Charlie calls Rose to take the tiller, for the first time. She has a hamper on her lap, but there's nowhere to put it, so she takes it out and lowers it down below the bottom of the screen, then she takes her hands away and the hamper quickly disappears. Some crew member must have taken it away.

Rebecca (1940)

Continuity mistake: When the girl helps Frank by licking a stamp and putting it on an envelope, Frank gets up from the table, holding two pieces of folded paper in his right hand and goes to the filing cabinet to get a folder out, with the papers still in his right hand. When he goes to return to his seat, the papers are now in his left hand.

Rebecca (1940)

Continuity mistake: On the way back from London, Maxim is pretending to drive a right-hand driven car, with Frank beside him, in a studio, with a screen behind them, but when they have body doubles driving in real-life, the car is a left-hand driven car, but only for a minute or two, and then they go back to the studio car.

Factual error: In the beginning, Sundance is accused of cheating at cards and the man accusing Sundance doesn't know who he is. To prove it, Sundance shoots the holster off the man and then the gun from his hand, and then shoots the gun around the room. All this takes 9 bullets. The gun is a revolver holding 6 bullets.

Nuts (1987)

Continuity mistake: Claudia is sitting opposite Dr Morrison, in his office, with a big desk between them. When we have the camera getting Dr Morrison's view, across the desk, there is a very tall pen, but when we get Claudia's view across the desk, to Dr Morrison, there is no pen.

Trivia: When Madeleine is in the morgue, we get a shot of a table and on that table is a jar with a brain and formaldehyde in it, and on the jar is a sign and the sign says "abnormal." This is a homage to the film "Young Frankenstein": Dr Frankenstein sent Igor to the morgue to get a specific brain, an intelligent man's brain, but Igor was startled and dropped the intelligent brain, so looked around for another one and he did: He found a brain with the label "abnormal" on it, and that is why the monster was so hard to teach and control.

Blithe Spirit (1945)

Stupidity: When Ruth goes to see Madame Arcati, after Elvira has arrived, the kettle on a gas two-burner hotplate is whistling, so Madame Arcati takes the whistle off the kettle and then the kettle off the hotplate and pours most of the water into a teapot, but, what is stupid is, she puts the kettle back onto the same burner without turning the gas off and in less than a minute the water is boiling its head off but they don't notice because the whistle is on the table and not where it is supposed to be, on the kettle.

House of Wax (1953)

Stupidity: When one of Vincent Price's protege's leaves a wax work-in-progress, he doesn't cover it with a lightly damp cloth, which is very important: wax uncovered will go hard and useless.
