Suicide Squad (2016)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: We're talking about Amanda Waller who had no issues murdering innocent government employees that were accidentally exposed to her top-secret Suicide Squad program they weren't cleared for (versus making them sign an NDA not to talk about it as in a real-life accidental exposure to uncleared employees). Waller just took the easier option which was to threaten to kill Enchantress if she didn't obey versus spending countless dollars (and exposing more people to Waller's program) trying to cure her.

Corrected entry: There's no way Daggett's plan to make Bruce lose his fortune and get kicked out of his company would have worked, Bruce wasn't on the trading room floor, the fact that terrorists seized the Stock Exchange would have cancelled and voided any trading that day, plus the fact that the trade happened whilst under terrorism control would have made it more that obvious that Bruce did not make the trade. To make matters even worse almost every single character and the news media acts like Bruce intentionally committed a kamikaze trade whilst the floor was seized.

Correction: As Fox specifically states in the movie, given time, they'd probably be able to prove the fraud, but that would need to be proven to the satisfaction of the courts, which would not be quick. You have to bear in mind that copies of Bruce's fingerprints were used to authorise the trades, copies that were made during a break-in that the police were never informed of and thus any subsequent claim of theft would be treated with considerable scepticism. Thus, for the time being at least, Bruce is broke and has to relinquish control of the company. Daggett believes that may be enough to gain him control of Wayne Enterprises in order to force a merger with his own company; he may well be wrong but you're overlooking the rather major point that this is not Daggett's plan. The real aim of the plan is to get Bruce to temporarily surrender control to Miranda Tate so that she can gain access to the reactor in order to weaponise it. That's all she and Bane need; after that, it doesn't matter in the slightest if the trades are proved to be fraudulent, because they have what they were after and their plan for the fall of Gotham can be set in motion. Long-term, you're right, the plan probably wouldn't work. But it never needed to.

Tailkinker

While you are correct about them not needing the fraudulent trade to be permanent, the original mistake is still, for the most part, valid. If we assumed there is security footage of the exchange, it would prove that Bruce was never there. If we disregard security footage or assume Bane's crew destroyed it, they would have cancelled all trades made that day anyway because, for all they know, Bane may have kidnapped Bruce and forced him to make the trades under duress during the siege.

AD

It would still take some time to determine this as trading was under way so it would take some time to decipher the legit trades from the fraudulent ones.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

Continuity mistake: After Barbara resigns her powers, she's back to her black dress, but she was wearing brown clothes and boots before she asked for the second wish.

Suggested correction: When Barbara made her second wish, she was wearing a brown jacket with a black shirt underneath it, and she could have removed her jacket prior to transforming into her Cheetah form. After she turns back to a human, you can see that her torn shirt is the same color. Also, while it's out of focus with the sunset in the background, it appears that the skirt she's wearing could be the same cheetah pattern she was wearing when she was fighting Wonder Woman at the White House.

Battleship (2012)

Factual error: How does the main hero Lieutenant Alex Hopper even get into the Navy as an officer in the first place with a felony breaking and entering on his record? You need at least a Secret clearance and a good moral background to commission as an officer, neither of which would be something Alex can get with a felony on his record.

Suggested correction: He was enlisted prior to becoming an officer. You can get a waiver for a lot of things in the Navy, especially with a good record as enlisted.

This entry was already previously corrected for the same reason (arguing that Alex got a criminal waiver) and returned to being a mistake after more details were submitted. The issue isn't joining the Navy; it's being granted a security clearance required for commissioning as an officer with the felony on his record. It may have eventually been possible for him to get a waiver to commission after an extended period of time, but not within the movie's timeframe between his brother ordering him to join in 2005 and the start of the 2012 portion of the movie showing him already being a lieutenant long enough to be eligible for promotion to lieutenant commander at the end of the movie. Even if we assume they ignored the minimum time requirements to promote to lieutenant commander as a reward for his heroism, there's still the matter of how long he would have needed to be an officer to get to lieutenant in the first place prior to the invasion.

You can get felonies reduced to misdemeanors after completion of things like probation or several years of good conduct in the military.

While it is true that some felonies can be reduced after meeting certain conditions put in place by the court, that doesn't change the fact that the original conviction would be what the military would look at when determining whether or not to give him the security clearance he needed to apply to be an officer. Assuming he joined immediately after he was arrested (which in itself is nearly impossible; while you can get a criminal waiver to join after you complete your sentence, joining the military in lieu of going to jail isn't something the military allowed since after the Vietnam War), that still gives him less than seven years to do his enlisted time, get waivers approved to get a clearance with a felony conviction, go to OCS, and get promoted to O-3 all before the invasion.

Stand and Deliver - S4-E14

Corrected entry: When Colonel Haley tells Brainy that she wants to take measures to prevent a disaster during the pro-alien march, he mentions the Women's March as one of a few successful peaceful protests that have taken place in the past. While it was a large event that many may have considered successful, the Women's March was mostly in response to Donald Trump's election as President of the United States in the real world. Since Olivia Marsdin was president on Earth 38 at the time and remained so until she resigned after being outed as an alien, it is unlikely that the Women's March would have still happened on their Earth. (00:20:00)

Correction: He's most likely referring to the march for women's suffrage in 1913, or the 2004 "March for Women's Lives", one of the largest protests in US history, which had no violent incidents.

Jon Sandys

Correction: Brainy specifically said the words "The Women's March" when he mentioned three previous successful marches, and the other two he mentioned in the same sentence were the Freedom March (nickname for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom) and the Million Man March. While both the March for Women's Suffrage (actually named the Woman's Suffrage Procession and commonly known as the woman suffrage parade of 1913) and the March For Women's Lives appear in the disambiguation page of the article "Women's March" on Wikipedia, neither of them are commonly known as the Women's March and would more likely have been called by their official names. Considering that the show also bought up the southern border wall and other politically-charged incidents involving the Trump Administration that would be plot holes on Earth 38, it's more likely mentioning the Women's March was a deliberate mistake done as a political statement rather than just an oversight or referring to a different march that would have still happened on an alternate Earth where Trump was never president.

Corrected entry: In 1985, when Marty's mum is talking about Jennifer, she mentions that she's never sat in a parked car with a boy before. But as Marty and his mum are sitting in a car in 1955, she says, "It's not like I've never parked with a boy before", which means she has.

Correction: Lorraine was obviously lying in 1985 about never being in a parked car with a boy, the same way a parent might lie to their kids about when they lost their virginity if they lost it in high school in hopes of deterring their kids from going out and having sex early themselves.

The Core (2003)

Corrected entry: When they are telling Rebeccah that she has exceptional navigational skills and is reassigned to the team they keep calling her "Major" but prior to that when the Army General is talking to her about how her crew crashed the space shuttle she has a silver leaf on her epaulette. Silver is Lieutenant Colonel, major would be a gold leaf. Major (Gold Leaf) is a step down from Lieutenant Colonel (Silver Leaf). Major is an 0-4, LTCol is an 0-5. Demoting an officer is a congressional act and it wouldn't have been done until the investigation was completed; she wouldn't have been demoted out of simple suspicion of the crash being her fault.

EMTurbo

Correction: She was a Major the whole time, she was never wearing Lieutenant Colonel rank. I watched that scene as well as other scenes where she was in her dress uniform in slow-mo just to make sure her leaves were gold and not silver.

The Time Machine (2002)

Corrected entry: When Alexander goes to the year 802,701, the level of water had dropped about 30 metres. As that the climate seems to be tropical, the polar ice would have melted down and the water level would be higher than what it is in today's New York.

Dr Wilson

Correction: Being that the Moon was destroyed hundreds of thousands of years prior to that time, that could have had a major effect on the planet. In addition to the fact that tides would pretty much disappear, there is also a theory saying that without the Moon, the Earth's tilt can gradually be altered over time which would change the position of the poles. Also, 800,000 years worth of continental drift might have moved the former New York further from the poles than where is now.

Under Siege (1992)

Corrected entry: In the scene where they begin attempting to transfer the missiles, it shows the submarine tied up next to the Iowa, both ships dead in the water. This is basically impossible, as ocean currents would eventually smash the two ships together, probably causing catastrophic damage. When the U.S. Navy does replenishment at sea, the ships are always moving out of necessity.

Correction: That may be true for US Naval procedures; but the ship and the sub are under the control of terrorists who probably don't know that fact. They might have just got lucky that the current didn't pick up during the transfer causing them to crash together. Arguably, the traitor naval officer may have known that fact, but then that would be a character mistake, since he never bought it to the terrorists' attention even though he wasn't in charge of the operation.

X-Men 3 (2006)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Magneto's Brotherhood attacks, research lab soldiers use plastic weapons to prevent Magneto controlling them. However, even if the weapons are made of plastic, needles on syrettes are made of metal, so he should be able to feel and control them.

Correction: This could have been fixed two ways: 1. They could have used a non-magnetic metal (such as aluminum or stainless steel) to make the syringes; or 2. They could have used a plastic needle (which does exist). Even if they didn't exist in real life; it's safe to assume that they could have developed one in the X-Men universe since it takes place a few years in the future and they have shown technology that is more advanced than what we currently have. Besides; when was the last time you saw a "plastic" firearm, outside of some hijacker's fantasy?

AD

Corrected entry: The General's daughter is leaving the formal occasion in her dress uniform. It is highly unlikely that someone would be driving a dirty tactical vehicle in the most expensive clothes that they would ever own. In addition, she pulls a tire iron from the hummer to assist Travolta. Hummers do not have spare tires. They are equipped with run flat tires, so would have no need to carry a tire iron. And those lug nuts won't budge without an impact wrench.

Correction: Regarding the dress uniform, it is correct that it is unlikely she would be riding in a tactical vehicle and would have probably been in a standard vehicle instead. Regarding spare tires, most HMMWVs do have them and the tools to change them too in the BII (Basic Item Issue). Even with run-flats, it wouldn't be wise to not have one, especially during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Runflats don't last forever and eventually, the tire would need to be changed. An impact isn't needed to loosen the lugs, and in many cases isn't available due to most HMMWVs not having the capability to run an impact wrench anyway.
