To Me, My X-Men - S1-E1

Deliberate mistake: When the news program is discussing Gyrich's assassination attempt on Xavier from the series finale of the original animated series, he's shown to have his classic look of auburn hair and sunglasses. However, when this scene occurred, Gyrich had black hair and was not wearing sunglasses. This was done deliberately to match the character design of the original series prior to the final 6 episodes, when Saban took over and redesigned much of the show's look.

Saw X (2023)

Deliberate mistake: Per his autopsy in Saw IV, John Kramer was 52 years old at the time of his death, and this film takes place between Saw and Saw II. Tobin Bell was around 80 years old at the time of making this film, and thus looks far too old to convincingly play someone in their early 50s. Amanda Young also looks a lot older in this film compared to other entries in the franchise that are chronologically later.

Show generally

Deliberate mistake: Identical twins Beverly and Elliot have the exact same beauty mark on their faces, roughly on the smile line directly across from the right nostril. Identical twins don't share features like that.

Home Improvement (1991)

Deliberate mistake: When Maverick is in the bar texting Iceman, Iceman's sentence-long responses come almost immediately after Maverick sends his messages, without enough time having elapsed for Iceman to have typed them out. Compare this to the later scene at the selectively mute Iceman's house, where he types out various sentences for Maverick to read, and the amount of time it takes him to type them out is more of what one would expect.

Suggested correction: Typing on a PC keyboard isn't the same as typing on a smartphone. The former requires proper coordination of both hands. The latter may use AI-assisted predictive suggestions and auto-correct. Microsoft's discontinued SwiftKey could predict all of Iceman's responses.

FleetCommand

Predictive text and autocorrect still wouldn't account for Iceman's responses appearing on Maverick's screen almost immediately after Maverick sends his texts to Iceman. It would still take at least a few seconds for that to happen. The reason this is a deliberate mistake because they didn't want to waste screen time showing Iceman's responses appearing in a more realistic time-frame.

Phaneron

Iceman's typing starts at 0:21:51 and ends at 0:21:58. That's more than long enough. Maverick is twice as fast and we see his typing on the screen. He can type a whole sentence between 0:21:58 to 0:22:01. And it seems natural to me.

FleetCommand

Maverick texts "The kid's not ready for this mission." Iceman responds "No one is," and roughly 2 seconds later a separate text appears, in which he says "That's why you're here." No amount of predictive text or autocorrect can both type out that sentence that quickly as well as deliver it to the recipient's phone.

Phaneron

First, in the real world, Iceman would be typing even as he hits the Send message. Maverick's phone would stop displaying the "Iceman is typing..." message to do the unfurl animation, but Iceman is still typing. Second, yes, Microsoft's AI-assisted SwiftKey could. Iceman types "That's" and SwiftKey guesses the rest. This degree of intelligent predication is mundane! Microsoft's IntelliCode predicts the C# code you'd want to write.

Swipe, Fuck, Leave - S7-E2

Deliberate mistake: When Dominique is creating a Tinder profile for Fiona (an app Fiona admits she doesn't use), she manages to use Fiona's phone to take a picture of her, create a profile, and quickly get three matches, all within a span of 25 seconds. Downloading the app itself would take longer than 25 seconds, much less agreeing to its terms of service, and verifying the email or phone number associated with the account. (00:45:15 - 00:45:39)

Deliberate mistake: When Mr. Roboto is offering Austin a mushroom, the subtitles lead Austin to think Mr. Roboto is asking him to eat some shit, until Foxy reveals more of the subtitles to say "Please eat some shitake mushrooms." The correct spelling for this kind of mushroom is "shiitake." They had to cheat on the spelling in order to make the joke work.

Jigsaw (2017)

Deliberate mistake: During his autopsy in Saw IV, it is revealed John Kramer was 52 at the time of his death. Kramer's role in this film is the very early stages of his time as Jigsaw, shortly after his cancer diagnosis, which would put him in his early 50's. However, he looks far too old to convincingly be that young (Tobin Bell was in his mid-70's at the time of filming). He even looks older than he did when he was on his deathbed in Saw III.

Life of the Party - S2-E18

Deliberate mistake: When everyone is doing the Urkel Dance on the rooftop, Steve is instructing everyone on how the dance goes since they have never done it before, but there are sections of the dance where he is not telling them what to do, but it is still perfectly choreographed.

Dual Time - S9-E2

Deliberate mistake: When Tim Taylor is telling Mike about his show "Tool Time," he mentions that it lasted for 8 years. Later in the episode when Mike is asking Tim why he stopped doing the show, Tim says it's because he found it challenging to keep the show great and not run out of ideas. Firstly, while Home Improvement ran for 8 years, the show within the show of "Tool Time" was already a couple years old when Home Improvement started, as evidenced by the fact that its season 3 episode "Fifth Anniversary" was about "Tool Time" celebrating its 5th anniversary, as the title suggests. Additionally, Tim didn't quit "Tool Time" for the reasons he stated here. He spontaneously quit over creative differences with Binford's new president, who was turning the show into a sensationalist Jerry Springer type of format, and because his wife Jill had just been given a job in Indiana, and he decided the family would move there to support her.

Nightmare in Green - S2-E9

Deliberate mistake: When Johnny is watching the news footage of the Hulk battling Thing, all the footage is merely clips from that portion of the episode, including parts of the battle that were happening before the camera crews even showed up. (00:02:50 - 00:07:20)

Night of the Sentinels: Part 1 - S1-E1

Deliberate mistake: When the Sentinel is first walking through the mall, its footsteps are so heavy that it shakes the building. When it is shown walking past the shop Gambit is in, there is no shaking of the building, presumably done so Gambit wouldn't notice it. (00:04:08)
