Revealing mistake: The French tanks that attack Paul et al. Towards the end of the second act are supposed to be Saint Chamond tanks. There is only one of those left in the world, and it is not on screen: the undercarriage and tracks don't even come close to looking like that of a Saint Chamond, because it's actually a BMP-1 dressed up to look like a Saint Chamond.

All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)
21st Mar 2022
Common mistakes
Character mistake: Soldiers leaving the foldable stocks of their weapons folded, despite knowing that they are going into a combat situation. Particularly affects the MP-40 wielded by the Germans in WWII movies, but also some modern examples like the MP5 and the G36. Automatic weapons are difficult to control at the best of times, there is no reason a trained soldier would deprive themselves of this extra bit of accuracy.

Common mistakes
Factual error: Whenever an aircraft goes into some kind of nosedive, they will almost always make low-pitched whine that gets louder as the aircraft goes faster. But this is the Jericho Siren that was fitted to the Stuka dive bomber by the Germans in WWII for the purposes of psychological warfare. It's a specific device that has to be fitted, nothing else would make this sound on its own.

Common mistakes
Factual error: When pistols are empty, the person holding it is often surprised when it clicks empty. In reality, the slide on semi-automatic pistols lock back when the gun runs empty, making it easy to see that you're out of ammo. Sometimes happens in movies, often doesn't.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Continuity mistake: When the camera is panning over the entire army on the Avengers' side for the first time, Captain America is standing in front of everyone, and his shield is intact and round again, while Thanos broke it earlier. The next time we see it, it's back to being broken.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Trivia: Spoilers: Captain America being worthy of lifting Thor's hammer Mjölnir is something that is pulled from the pages of the comics directly, most notably in this context the Civil War comics. He'd previously been able to move it fractionally in Age of Ultron - Joss Whedon has implied he was able to lift it the whole time, just pretended he couldn't so as to spare Thor's feelings.

The Blackcoat's Daughter (2015)
Continuity mistake: Spoiler alert: About halfway through the movie, we see Emma Roberts coming out of the shower, and the camera focuses on the gunshot wound on her shoulder, with the round scar of the entry wound on her back, and the much rougher, ragged scar of the exit wound on her front. Then at the end of the movie, where it's revealed that Kiernan Shipka and Emma Roberts were actually playing the same character, just nine years apart, Kiernan Shipka gets shot by the police officer when he finds her in the room with the severed heads. Problem is: she was facing the officer. The scars on Emma Roberts are the wrong way around. (00:31:05 - 01:15:35)

Designated Survivor (2016)
Factual error: When in Amsterdam, there are a number of mistakes with Hanna's car. First off, it's a brand new model, but it has a numberplate from a series six years ago. Second, that numberplate is a flat sticker, while Dutch numberplates are made with very thick plastic letters. Third, the registration is 87-UYM-3, which wouldn't be used, given that Dutch numberplates don't use vowels.

Other mistake: When Krall boards the Enterprise, he lands his ship in the top of the saucer, but then later, Uhura separates the saucer from the neck of the ship with both her and Krall still inside it. And then when they are back on the planet's surface, they arrive there in Krall's very recognizable three-nacelled ship, whereas all of the other ships from that fleet only have two nacelles.
Suggested correction: The other ships were also taking Enterprise crew members, so there's no reason to think whoever was left to pilot Krall's ship couldn't pick up Krall and Uhura.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)
Trivia: The ship we see Jack on in Salazar's flashback is called the Wicked Wench. This is a bit of an in-joke for PotC buffs, because that was the original name of the Black Pearl before being sunk by Cutler Beckett and raised again by Davy Jones. It's fully explained in a deleted scene of At World's End.
10th Aug 2017
Wonder Woman (2017)
Character mistake: Chief says the poison gas should be flammable because it's hydrogen-based. Hydrogen is the most common element in the universe, and there are plenty of non-flammable substances that contain hydrogen - the most notable of which being water.
Suggested correction: Hydrogen is explosive in air at concentrations greater than about 4%.
Pure hydrogen is flammable, yes. However a chemical compound that contains hydrogen would not necessarily be explosive, or even flammable. As the original mistake stated, water contains hydrogen and is not flammable. Whilst other hydrogen-containing compounds are flammable (such as hydrocarbons), the presence of hydrogen alone is not the reason for its volatility.

Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Stupidity: So when Belle finds out that her father is being hauled away to the insane asylum, she is in such a rush to get that she doesn't even change out of the massive yellow dress that would be really uncomfortable to ride a horse in, probably because she is in such a hurry. But earlier in the movie, the Beast shows her his magic book that allows him to teleport anywhere in the world, so why doesn't she just use that?
Suggested correction: As you've just stated, she is in a hurry. She probably didn't think about using the book.
7th Jun 2017
John Wick (2014)
Continuity mistake: When Viggo crashes into John's Charger, it's bent out of shape pretty badly, almost to what would be halfway to the driver's seat. Yet John is fine, and in the next shot, the car is basically too. (01:25:50)
4th Jun 2017
Batman: The Killing Joke (2016)
Continuity mistake: When Batman and Batgirl are about to have sex on the roof, Batman lets his left hand slip down from her back to her butt. In the next shot, it's on her back again.
Question: Why does Elizabeth take the medallion with her after her blood fails to lift the curse? She knows that it "calls to them", so it would only act as a homing beacon, but she doesn't know that they're after Will specifically, in fact, at that point, only Jack knows that. So why would she risk the pirates coming after them?

24th Apr 2017
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Other mistake: When the saucer of the Enterprise finally crashes, all sorts of dust comes into the bridge through the big window at the front. Two mistakes here: 1. The very next shot shows that the dust cloud never actually reaches up to the bridge (which is in the middle of the saucer) and 2. Later in the movie, Kirk and Chekov escape the bridge, but to do so, they need to shoot the window out. So the dust couldn't have got in even if it had reached the bridge. Which it didn't. (00:32:25 - 00:51:30)
Suggested correction: The dust and debris seen isn't from hitting the dirt or ground. It came before when the saucer was crashing through the mountains and you see the entire top of the saucer covered in dust. But the debris didn't have to come from a window that was later shot out. It could have come from other widows or hull breaches, not to mention the fact that what we see is probably the interior of the ship itself.

The Newsroom (2012)
Factual error: Most of what Will says about the Challenger's O-rings is wrong. First of all, he says they are meant to keep hydrogen from leaking out of the SRB. SRB stands for Solid Rocket Booster, meaning they use solid fuel, not hydrogen. The hydrogen was in the external fuel tank. Second, the O-rings were tested for cold, and NASA engineers recommended against launching that day, with one of them even refusing to sign off on the paperwork if the launch was to go forward. NASA overruled them and went ahead with the launch anyway, with all the disastrous consequences that ensued.

Arrow (2012)
Factual error: When Oliver is hunting Prometheus, they come face to face. Oliver fires an arrow, which is tracked in slow motion before being split by one of Prometheus' throwing stars. Problem is that Oliver's arrow is, well, flying straight as an arrow. But in reality, when you film an arrow in slow motion, they flex and wobble, and definitely wouldn't fly like the one shown on screen.

Sunshine (2007)
Factual error: Slingshotting around Mercury as the Icarus does wouldn't work. It may seem counter intuitive, but getting to the sun is actually really hard, as you have to cancel out the earth's orbital speed around the sun (which is about 30 km/s). Now, assuming this is possible, if they would then get caught in Mercury's orbit, they would have to decelerate all over again, only because Mercury is moving much faster than Earth, it's much harder (about 48 km/s). This would make it a needless detour that would only cost massive amounts of fuel, making it entirely pointless.

Question: One thing I haven't ever been able to figure out is this: how does SAMCRO know exactly where Cameron is headed after he kidnapped Abel? They had no direct clues, and even after watching the series a second time, it still doesn't quite make sense to me.
Chosen answer: They knew he owned the boat at the docks as that was how he brought the guns into the country. They assumed he would head there when he was needing to flee with Abel.
Answer: They didn't know he was headed to Belfast until Maureen Ashby calls Gemma and tells her that Abel is in Belfast. Cameron is her cousin and he even brings Abel to her apartment.

Mr. Rate: Whoever took that shot's probably dead now. That's how conspiracy works. Them boys on the grassy knoll, they were dead within three hours. Buried in the damn desert. Unmarked graves out past Terlingua.

Factual error: When Rogers is launched through the front window of the bus after the Winter Soldier shoots him with a grenade, the bus is hit by a truck and flips. But if you look closely, the damage is minimal. On the truck it would qualify as a fender bender, and the dent in the bus looks like it was made with one decent swing from a sledgehammer. No way was that collision powerful enough to flip a fourteen ton bus on its side. (01:14:50)

Gravity (2013)
Question: When Ryan is descending back into the atmosphere in the Shenzhou, two pieces pop off the landing module after the big tracking shot. One appears to be part of the heat shield, and the other looks like an O-ring from the window. 1) If it really was a part of the heat shield, wouldn't she along with the Shenzhou have burnt up in the atmosphere and 2) If that was a part of the window, shouldn't it pop out due to the pressure differential? Or, if I'm wrong about those two parts, what are they?
Chosen answer: The heat shield separates before landing. If it didn't the solid fuel engines behind the shield that are designed to give a soft landing wouldn't work. It doesn't separate until the capsule has slowed sufficiently to mean it is no longer needed. I don't know what the other piece that separates is but it is nothing to do with the windows. It comes from under the capsule so was behind the heat shield.

Question: The Dr. 1's are repeatedly shown opening their attack by diving down on their enemy. I know that Dr. 1's (because of their tri-wing configuration) had excellent climbing abilities, but it was hopeless at diving. So my question is: was this a common tactic for German pilots (specifically in the Dr. 1) to do this?
Answer: Easy answer. In WW1 and WW2 pilots would attack with the sun behind them as it made them very hard to spot. "Beware of the Hun in the sun" Once the missile age started it didn't matter.
15th Mar 2014
Flyboys (2006)
Factual error: All the Fokker Dr. 1's in this movie (save for one) are red. This was most likely done because the best known Dr. 1, the one flown by The Red Baron, was red. It was however, a pretty rare color to see on German planes. There might have been a few copycats during the war, but there were no entirely red squadrons.

Deliberate mistake: Whenever Deathstroke is on screen, he has three grenades for a launcher strapped to his chest. But on closer inspection, you can see these grenades are actually BB-gun grenades: You can tell by the very distinctive holes at the tip. They did this because launched grenades are A) very expensive and B) not very safe to walk around with on set. A few of the most noticeable times are when Yao Fei is fighting him when he is freeing Oliver in episode 5 and when Oliver is talking to him in episode 14.

The Avatar and the Firelord - S3-E6
Question: At the end of Sozin's story, he says that he wiped out the Airtemple, and we see one burning. But it isn't one of the four they visited during the three seasons. The Western Airtemple hangs from the cliff, the Northern and Southern both are on one solitary peak and it doesn't have the distinctive bridges of the Eastern Airtemple. Is it ever explained or shown which one it is in Sozin's story?
Chosen answer: When Sozin says "So I wiped out the Air Temples," we are indeed seeing the three mountains of the Eastern Air Temple burning, with the two bridges being gone in this shot (S3-E6). This does conflict a bit with the image we see of the Eastern Air Temple, with the two bridges intact, when Aang and Appa fly to that Air Temple seeking Guru Pathik (S2-E19). This may possibly be considered a mistake, but the fact is that when we are seeing the burning of the Eastern Air Temple it's from the point of view of Zuko, who is merely reading from Sozin's autobiographical account, and envisioning everything he's reading, which in his mind includes the bridges having been destroyed.

What's more, in the following shot, he is turning to his left.

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Factual error: Brian mentions that the engines in Shaw's flipcars sound like the engines you hear at Le Mans, turbo diesels. These cars have over 500 horsepower and are capable of reaching speeds upwards of 250 miles an hour. They also weigh less than one ton. Shaw's cars seem to meet all these demands: massive power and torque, no body fat and very fast. But here is also a problem: Dom is easily able to keep up in a factory-tuned BMW, which would be nearly twice as heavy, and Hobbs is able to keep up in his "four-wheeled tank", which would be thrice the weight, with even less power. There is no way that an extremely good driver like Shaw wouldn't be able to lose them with such an advantage in terms of power to weight ratios.

Arrow (2012)
Character mistake: When Oliver is brought into Fires' tent, he gets pushed into a pole by one of the guards. Take a close look at his handcuffs. They are so loose, he could easily escape from that. Not only that, but no guard who had any training would ever put handcuffs so loosely on someone they would treat as "hostile".

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Question: The trailer shows the part when Rogers and his men bust open the factory doors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JerVrbLldXw at 1:59) and the Captain fires off a few shots. It's a different sound from the one in the movie, and I know it's edited in. I'm just extremely certain that I have heard it somewhere in a video game, and it has been driving me nuts that I can't remember what game it came from. Does anyone here know where I might have heard this gunshot effect before?

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Character mistake: Tej mentions that the BMWs they used were factory-line, ie. unmodified. Hobbs then says that they were twin-turbo V8s "spitting out 560 ponies". The BMW M5s they have are E60 models (2005-2010) powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V10, producing 507 horsepower. (00:38:30)

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Continuity mistake: Shaw parks his Mercedes on the left side of the plane facing forward. Dom then comes in and parks his Charger on the right of the Mercedes, also facing forwards. But when Shaw wants to drive out of there, the Mercedes is now facing backwards, and it and the Charger have switched sides. Now the cars did move around a little when the plane was leaning, but this does not explain how the Charger would have moved "uphill". (01:43:15 - 01:53:00)

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Factual error: When Mia changes gear to pull the Antonov down, she moves the gear lever straight down, then straight up again, meaning she would end up in the same gear.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
Trivia: A deleted scene describes Jack's debt with Davy Jones and the hatred between Jack and Beckett in greater detail: Jack used to be the captain of the Wicked Wench, a ship owned by the East India Trading Company, and so it indirectly belonged to Beckett. When Jack had to carry a cargo of slaves, he set them free instead of deliver them as he was ordered by Beckett. Beckett branded Jack as a pirate and burned the Wicked Wench so that it sank. Jack managed to escape and struck a deal with Davy Jones to raise the Wicked Wench in perfect condition except for the permanently blackened hull. This prompted Jack to rename her the Black Pearl. In return, Jack would give Davy Jones 100 years of service after he had been captain of the Black Pearl for 13 years. This served as the main plot device of the second film.
16th Jul 2013
Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Factual error: When the Mercedes jeep hits the wall at the end of the plane, Shaw goes straight through the windshield and falls to his death in a cloud of shards. Windshields on modern cars, like that jeep, are made out of laminated glass, layers of glass and plastic, precisely designed to prevent shattering into those deadly daggers during an accident and kill the unlucky guy in front of it.

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Continuity mistake: During Brian's jump over the bridge debris, the Ford leans forward pretty far and is still rolling forward by the time the shot cuts. When he touches down, the angle of the car is a lot less steep. (01:28:00)
16th Jul 2013
Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Other mistake: Dom drives his Dodge Charger out of the Antonov's cargo hold - which is filled with, well, cargo - through the nose of the plane which was already on fire while he was still in it - and yet there isn't a single dent on his car before he loses control and rolls it.
16th Jul 2013
Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Continuity mistake: Han's Charger gets pretty badly damaged during the chase over the runway - especially when he hits it up against the Range Rover with Shaw's guys in it. Yet at the end of the chase, it doesn't even have so much as a scratch. (01:47:55 - 01:54:15)

G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013)
Trivia: During the raid on the summit, a team of soldiers runs past Lady Jaye. One of them can be heard shouting "Follow that ground team!" This quote is directly lifted from Transformers: Dark of the Moon when the soldiers in that movie are about to attack the Decepticons. It is definitely Josh Duhamel's voice, indicating Paramount reused this piece of audio.

Arrow (2012)
Other mistake: When Oliver returns from the docks, he puts his bow in the case and his hood down. This is footage which is run backwards from the scene where he suits up earlier on. The best point to see this is when he ultimately blinks: it's very unnatural.

Fast Five (2011)
Continuity mistake: The hole in the plastic which is around the vault Han ordered changes after Tej says "You got a 100 million dollars in a safe, are you going to put somebody else's handprint on it?" This is easiest to spot around the palm scanner: at first, it is completely free, but after that line, the plastic suddenly hangs in front of it. (01:05:40)

Arrow (2012)
The Odyssey - S1-E14
Revealing mistake: After Fires shoots Wilson, he shoots a few more times with the camera on him. Here you can see that the muzzle flash is pretty obviously CGI. Look for things like that fact that it's very small, there's no light shed on the car beside Fires or on himself and there is no smoke.
24th Jun 2013
Arrow (2012)
The Odyssey - S1-E14
Continuity mistake: When Wilson jams the pistol in Oliver's face, Wilson is holding the gun in his right hand. When the shot changes, it flips - he is suddenly holding it in his left hand, and his previous un-scarred left eye now has some scrapes around it.
24th Jun 2013

Arrow (2012)
Question: Is this show going to be a part of the Justice League universe DC is creating with the Man of Steel? I'm just wondering, because A) The Green Arrow has been a member of the Justice League in the past and B) they haven't done anything yet in the show to deny or confirm that it's going to be part of that.
Chosen answer: There is no evidence at this point to suggest that this is the case. Most indications at this point suggest that Green Arrow is not under consideration as a likely character for any proposed Justice League movie.
14th Jun 2013
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Continuity mistake: When Jarvis wakes Tony up when he is in Tennessee, there is quite a lot of blood on his face. But when he takes off his mask, so before he had any time to wipe it off, the amount of blood decreases significantly. (00:39:50 - 00:40:30)

Trivia: When composer Éric Serra showed Inva Mula, the Albanian soprano who was going to sing the Diva Dance, the sheet music for that part, apparently she laughed and said that it was impossible for the human voice to switch from high to low notes that quickly. She got her way: The part that ended up in the film is not a single piece of audio, rather it's several pieces stitched meticulously together.
28th May 2013
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Question: The boxes which contain the particle accelerator are marked "Project Pegasus". Is this some sort of comic book reference?
Chosen answer: Yes, it is. Project PEGASUS (standing for Potential Energy Group/Alternate Sources/United States) is principally a scientific base used in multiple stories set in the Marvel Universe, although it has also served as a place of incarceration for super-powered individuals at various points in its existence. Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pegasus is the SHIELD scientific base used in the Avengers movie to study the Tesseract, that is destroyed when the portal used to bring Loki to Earth implodes.

Continuity mistake: When Toothless flies away with Astrid and Hiccup for the first time, he plunges into the sea completely multiple times but none of them are wet afterwards.
17th May 2013
How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
Continuity mistake: When Hiccup first finds Toothless, there is a dramatic shot where the camera pans over Toothless, and his wing briefly obscures his eye, which is open after the wing passes. But look at the tip of the wing. During the shot there is a stretch of rope wrapped around it. In the next shot, the rope is much higher up the wing and not wrapped around it anymore. (00:13:15)
15th May 2013
Arrow (2012)
Factual error: When The Hood busts into the underground casino, the throws a guy through a glass table, and it breaks into large shards. He then proceeds to grab a handful of safety glass, so it's not the same glass anymore, and he throws it into the face of a guard, and it hurts him badly. Safety glass is designed precisely to prevent that. It is impossible for the pieces to get lodged in the guys face, no matter how hard The Hood throws them.

Arrow (2012)
Visible crew/equipment: When Oliver jumps out of the window of Adam Hunt's office, you can see the safety rope at the bottom.

26th Apr 2013
How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
Stupidity: During one of the test drives, the hook that Hiccup uses to fasten himself to Toothless gets bent, so he takes Toothless to the blacksmith to cut the line. There are two ways he could have easily avoided this: He could just unhook the saddle, take that to the blacksmith and cut himself loose, or he could just untie the leather strap. What he does here is needlessly risky and just there for his awkward conversation with Astrid.
8th Apr 2013
Battleship (2012)
Continuity mistake: After the Sampson is hit, and the captain says "continue fire", there is a shot straight from the front of the ship. That shot is flipped, you can see the damage done by the shell is now on the other side of the ship.
17th Mar 2013
Wreck-It Ralph (2012)
Continuity mistake: When Ralph looks down on the entrance of Sugar Rush after being lifted by King Candy, you can see the path is empty between the three characters and the cybugs. But when Ralph frees himself from King Candy's grip and Vanellope starts glitching towards Ralph, you can see Calhoun's discarded weapon lying on the ground. Something so distinctly black would stand out on the rainbow bridge from a distance. (01:24:55)

Hot Fuzz (2007)
Trivia: Most of the scenes and lines this movie parodies come from Bad Boys II and Point Break, except for one. The line the doctor says: "I brought you into this world Danny, seems rather fitting I'll be the one to take you out of it", is from The Island, another Michael Bay movie.
7th Mar 2013
Dredd (2012)
Continuity mistake: There is a shot which is used twice: when Dredd comes out of the elevator on his way to the Med Center and shoots someone from cover. It is used again when he and Anderson are on level 200 clearing the last of MaMa's henchmen. You can tell by the elevator buttons, the awkward sudden shifting of Dredd's position in relation to the door and the continuity with his gun suddenly going from unsilenced to silenced and back. (00:31:40 - 01:20:25)
3rd Mar 2013
The Avengers (2012)
Question: Bruce Banner brings up at one point what SHIELD is doing in the energy business. That is actually a good question. If they want to use the Tesseract to build weapons, why would they spend millions of dollars and their top researchers on energy?
Chosen answer: Because the Tesseract is a powerful energy source and only by understanding that energy can they hope to harness it to create the weapons that they need. And there are other applications other than weapons. For example, SHIELD's Helicarrier clearly requires an insane amount of power to keep running; mastering the Tesseract and the potentially unlimited power it provides could give them a whole new range of options there. Likewise their ground installations, vehicles, equipment, all of these need power too. There are plenty of good reasons why SHIELD would look into non-weapon-based uses for the Tesseract's energies.
3rd Mar 2013
The Avengers (2012)
Continuity mistake: When the Helicarrier is about to take off, Banner and Rogers are still at the edge of the landing strip, identified by the yellow SHIELD logo and the jet that Banner is checking out. But the shot hangs on Romanoff for a second, and when it cuts, Banner and Rogers are instantly at the very edge of the ship, a good 50 feet away from where they were a second ago. (00:32:55)
3rd Mar 2013
The Avengers (2012)

General questions
I'm looking for the title of a heist movie. I don't have a specific time frame of when it was made, but I do remember that I watched it somewhere between 2001 and 2005 on DVD. It had a (subtle) sex scene in it which took place in a sauna, and I think it ended with the main character putting someone on a weight bomb in a white van, and after that he got out via a secret hatch in the bottom, parked over a sewer.
Chosen answer: The movie is "Heist" with Gene Hackman; great movie with numerous twists and surprises...

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Continuity mistake: During the Mexican Standoff, Ironhide finally forces the spike into the face of one of the Dreads and lifts him up by it. 18th Feb 2013
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Revealing mistake: Alice throws a new magazine for her gun up, and it stays in the air for a good ten seconds (adjusted for slow-mo). For something to stay up in the air, you would need to throw it a good hundred feet, and the hallway simply isn't that high. (00:22:40)
18th Feb 2013
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Factual error: Alice and Ada blow up a taxi by shooting the gas-tank. Shooting the gas tank of a car won't blow it up - as was tested by Mythbusters. (00:38:15)

18th Feb 2013
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Factual error: Semi-automatic guns don't just click empty, like they do in a lot of movies. The slide would lock back until you manually cock the gun. Yet in the corridor of light scene, this is exactly what happens: Alice's gun just clicks when it's empty.

18th Feb 2013
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Continuity mistake: When Alice knocks over the giant Licker in the Rolls-Royce, the driver's side of the car remains completely undamaged. Unlikely, but for the rest of the chase there are four giant scratches across the rear of the car. (00:51:10 - 00:52:05)
18th Feb 2013
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
Factual error: Alice blows up the wires of the elevator to bring it down as quickly as possible. But all elevators have emergency brakes to prevent precisely that from happening. The chances of them being damaged by rust are also very slim: they are covered in grease. (00:59:35)
18th Feb 2013
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
Continuity mistake: When the elevator hits the water, it starts to tilt over to one side. This contradicts the shot which shows it falling, where it fits very snugly in its shaft. (00:59:30)
18th Feb 2013
The Avengers (2012)
Factual error: The Mark 7 takes 9 seconds to assemble - give or take. Judging by the view of the Chrysler Building, Stark Tower is about 300 meters high. Even if you discount the time it takes for the suit to catch up with Tony, 9 seconds is too long, he would hit the ground before the suit would fully assemble. (01:41:35)
18th Feb 2013
The Avengers (2012)
Continuity mistake: When Stark is about to fire up the arc reactor underneath Stark Tower, you can see that he turns for his approach. 18th Feb 2013
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Other mistake: When Catwoman and Batman are fighting Bane's henchmen on the rooftop, pay close attention to the guys in the background right before Batman knocks Catwoman's gun away: you can see that the henchman well out of Batman's reach on the far left falls over like he's been hit by a punch, but he couldn't be. Also, no gunshots are heard at that point, so he couldn't have been shot either. (00:53:30)
18th Feb 2013
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Revealing mistake: When Bane first breaks into the stock exchange, he forces one of the guards into shooting his gun. Two mistakes: there is no flash or muzzle flare, and the gun has an insane amount of recoil. It's not a cannon, it's a 9mm. It's also not the guard being startled by Bane: Bane is the one holding his arm.
18th Feb 2013

17th Feb 2013
Dredd (2012)
Visible crew/equipment: When Judge Dredd says: "Thanks for the heads up", you can see that the gun he is holding is a rubber stunt prop: you can tell because the front end is sealed shut when it should be open. Also, the barrel is thicker, certain details are missing, etc.
17th Feb 2013

Revealing mistake: When Dredd headbutts Kay, you can see that he actually misses. You can tell because he moves forward further than Kay's face would allow.
17th Feb 2013
Dredd (2012)
Other mistake: The shot before Dredd tells Anderson the terms of the assessment is flipped: you can tell because the judges walking in the corridor have their badges pinned to the right side: with every other judge in every scene of the movie, it's on the left side. (00:10:25)

Question: It is made very clear in Thor that the safest place for powerful, mythical objects is Odin's weapons vault. So why would the Asgardians leave the most powerful and mythical of them all, the Tesseract on earth, behind just the push of a button?
Chosen answer: As we have no idea of the circumstances behind the Tesseract ending up hidden in a Norwegian church, we can hardly say that the Asgardians have simply chosen to leave it there. Most likely the reason is that they simply don't know where it is; while they're powerful, they're certainly not omnipotent. If, though some unknown past event, the Tesseract was lost to them, then somebody took considerable care in concealing it, it seems entirely reasonable that the Asgardians would be completely unable to locate it and return it to their vault.
13th Dec 2012
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Other mistake: When Alice pushes in the new magazine, she doesn't pull back on the slide, meaning the gun doesn't have a new bullet in the chamber, thus is unable to shoot.
13th Dec 2012
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Question: How do One, Rain and Olivera end up in this one? All of them were very thoroughly killed off and the end of their respective movies. Are they clones as well, and if so, why doesn't Umbrella just use new guards?
Chosen answer: Umbrella can produce their DNA's again and again. They use them because Alice acts mostly with her feelings and all these persons mean something to her.

29th Aug 2012
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Factual error: Tintin says they only have one bullet left. That bullet is in the magazine, and since it is a semi automatic, there should also be one in the chamber, meaning they would have two bullets. Even if they only had that paticular bullet, he doesn't cock the gun, meaning the chamber would be empty and therefore wouldn't fire.
22nd Aug 2012
Battleship (2012)
Continuity mistake: When the Phalanx on the Sampson starts shooting at the incoming projectiles, it's a short-barreled version. When the shot cuts, the barrels are much longer.

24th Jul 2012
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Other mistake: Justin Hammer picks up the M134 like it's a feather. In reality, it's a hundred pound gun, even a big bloke would have to work hard to pick something like that up.
22nd Jul 2012
The Island (2005)
Continuity mistake: When the police car stops on the middle of the four way junction, the first shot shows cars parked or waiting in all three lanes, but in the shot where they get broadsided, the armoured van is suddenly coming from the lane which previoulsy had a silver sportscar in it.
22nd Jul 2012

17th Jun 2012
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Visible crew/equipment: In the shot of Optimus driving along with the Driller, part of a camera mount can be seen in the reflection of Optimus' chrome grille. It's definitely not something next to the road, since it's moving at the same speed. (00:18:25)
15th Jun 2012
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Continuity mistake: Just before the soldiers jump out of the Osprey, there is a shot of them running for the exit. You can see a very big gun on the soldier's chest. But in every shot of them wingsuiting through Chicago, none of the soldiers can be seen carrying any kind of weapons, let alone big LMG's and assault rifles which they use after landing.
11th Jun 2012

9th Apr 2012
Titanic (1997)
Continuity mistake: Just after Rose leaves Cal, we get an underwater shot panning down on Jack, showing that the window he's standing next to is fully submerged. However, interior shots after that show air around the upper edge of it. It's not trapped air: it's constantly bouncing around, in a wave-like pattern. (01:53:10)
9th Apr 2012

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene after Jack and Rose try to save the child from the Italian guy, when the water bursts through the doors, they run away from it. (02:16:45)
9th Apr 2012
Titanic (1997)
Other mistake: After the "flying" scene, the story cuts back to real time. When it starts to transition back to the flashback, the camera zooms in on a television screen with the fireplace in it. This screen is 1) also used in the beginning of the movie 2) impossible, seeing how there was only one ROV in that room, and it shows the ROV in it. (00:06:15 - 01:20:10)
9th Apr 2012
Titanic (1997)
Continuity mistake: When Jack and Rose are running through the dining room, both of them are completely dry and running up. After Cal tells Lovejoy he'll give him the diamond if he gets it back, we cut back to Jack and Rose and both of them are soaking wet, most noticeably Jack. (02:13:15)
Plot hole: Tintin has a pretty sharp eye (as seen in his fight with Haddock, in the radio room, the Thompsons following them etc.), but he didn't notice that Sacharin's Unicorn was still fully intact? His own model was pretty badly damaged, with all sorts of wires hanging loose after its fall. (00:10:00 - 00:15:30)
29th Mar 2012
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

Question: How far could the rudder panel on the Titanic actually turn? Could it turn 90 degrees, or 45, or something in the middle? I'm wondering, because this could have made a difference.

Drive (2011)
Continuity mistake: When Gosling crashes into Nino's cars a few times, the front end of his car is noticeably damaged. However, in the subsequent shots, the car is perfectly fine. Even the front headlights are implausibly intact and working despite just T-boning Nino's car.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Revealing mistake: When Optimus has his 'rage' on Wacker Drive, you can see that cars that are being flipped not entirely by volition, since some of them (most notably the red BMW before he cuts a Decepticon clean in half) aren't even touched by Optimus or any Decepticons. (02:15:15)
Suggested correction: Actually if you look real closely, then you will see a shot, which resembles that of Bumblebee's.
14th Jan 2012
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Factual error: Cybertron is placed between Earth and the Sun, as you can see in the shots from outer space. But it doesn't see to block the sunlight, despite being notably bigger than the Earth. It may be a framework but it's very dense with multiple layers.
14th Jan 2012
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Continuity mistake: After Ironhide crashes into the remaining Dreads, we see that Crowbar lands on a bus stop, but when Sideswipe arrives, he is in front of an open garage door, at least 10 ft. away from the bus stop, debris is nowhere to be seen. (01:09:00)

Continuity mistake: Before Shaw takes the grenade from Hendry, the latter one has his finger in the pin, and has it half pulled out by then. Look closely at Hendry's hand: he is still holding the pin, while Shaw takes the rest of the grenade, but in the next shot, Shaw pulls it out again. (00:28:10)

Factual error: Smith shoots the windshields of both his own BMW and the van which is chasing him. The thing is, windshields on modern cars are made from laminated glass, altering between glass and plastic. When a windshield is shot, it will never shatter, unless you are driving a pre-1950's car.

9th Oct 2011
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Question: How did the Decepticons bring something as big as the Driller on Earth unnoticed? It's an earthworm the size of a building. Also, Megatron got here on purpose, Sentinel got here by accident, so did the original Seven Primes, so that would be an extreme number of coincidence. And even if that thing had been here for all these years, how did it manage to stay hidden? It's not like it can transform into something a little more subtle like a car.
Chosen answer: Sentinel did not get here by accident. They stated out right that he was headed for Earth when he accidentally crashed on the moon. The Driller went unnoticed because it can tunnel underground; no one saw it. The Primes may have come by accident, but their arrival is the reason all the other Cybertronians keep coming here.

13th Sep 2011
Ultraviolet (2006)
Other mistake: Why are the guards carrying that useless glass armor? Glass is very heavy, so it is not comfortable; the armor isn't shock proof, because it breaks even if they just fall down; and it isn't bullet proof, because the guy with the AR-15 shoots right through it.
13th Sep 2011
Ultraviolet (2006)

5th Sep 2011
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Other mistake: So let me get this straight: Optimus Prime has Energon Swords hidden in both of his arms, with which he can slice through an entire Decepticon in one chop, yet when he is hanging from a few wires, despite having one arm entirely free, he can't cut himself loose?
5th Sep 2011

Continuity mistake: When Optimus arrives in the street where he battles Shockwave, he passes the firetruck (behind which Sideswipe takes cover) twice.
2nd Sep 2011
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Question: Mearing says that the Xantium brought the second wave of Autobots. Which wave does she mean? Because so far, there have been three waves: Optimus, Jazz, Ironhide, Bumblebee and Ratchet, Sideswipe, The Twins, Arcee, Chromia, and Flareup and lastly, The Wreckers, Brains, Dino and Wheeljack. Which one didn't arrive by ship, and how did they arrive?
Chosen answer: Optimus, Jazz, Ironhide, Bumblebee and Rachet all arrived on Earth via separate pods which carried them in Transformers (2007). Sideswipe, The Twins, Arcee, Chormia and Flareup are wave one, introduced into Revenge Of The Fallen. The Wreckers, Brains, Dino (Mirage) and Wheeljack are wave two, introduced in Dark Of The Moon.
Answer: All the Autobots after the first movie like sideswipe, the twins, the wreckers and even Wheeljack are all from the second wave but were just in different places doing different things. When the wreckers are first introduced it is mentioned that they came down with the second wave but just never leave site. So they weren't seen during the second film because they spent their time on site with the ship. As for the others, Wheeljack is a top scientist and was probably too busy making weapons etc somewhere. Brains and Dino could have been ex Decepticons who changed to the Autobots side after the second movie or if they were Autobots from the start where just somewhere else at the time. Brian's being pretty small probably didn't want to be involved in the battles etc. and could have been helping the humans or Wheeljack somewhere, and seeing a Dino has an Italian accent could have been doing other work elsewhere in the word.
1st Sep 2011
Judge Dredd (1995)
Question: The girl on the far left in Dredd's class looks incredibly familiar to me. Is that Milla Jovovich?
Chosen answer: No, she wasn't in the movie.
27th Aug 2011
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Question: Were the CGI artists running out of time at the end of the movie? I ask because towards the end there is an increase in reusing footage, and masking the Transformers off with dust, explosions, sheets of fabric, pillars and some more uninteresting stuff. What's the reason behind this? This only starts after the forest battle, before that, everything looks just fine.
Chosen answer: It was probably as much to do with cost as it was with time. Although, there's no real way to know which scenes the CGI was actually made for, and which scenes it was borrowed for since they could very likely have animated a sequence for the climax then use elements of it for much earlier scenes. No reason to assume they'd work on the effects in the order we see them in the movie.
27th Aug 2011
Demolition Man (1993)
Revealing mistake: The cables Spartan slices in order to bring down the parasol, have quickreleases on them so that they snap in the right place. This is best visible with the second one. (01:01:50)
23rd Aug 2011
Mission: Impossible (1996)
Factual error: When the helicopter blows up, the train stops dead in its tracks almost instantly. A high-speed train like the TGV needs more then two miles to come to a complete stop from its top speed, or at least from the speed it's traveling at. And a Little Bird attached to it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference.
30th Jul 2011
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
Factual error: The blood stream on Wesker's head is wrong. He is leaning over to his right, and the blood coming straight out of the wound is going slightly to the right, and then straight down, so far so good. But at the angle he is lying, the blood should have stopped at his eye, and even if it did jump over his eye socket, it should have been directly below or even more to the right of where the first stream ends.
10th Jul 2011

I, Robot (2004)
Question: Lannings wrote the three laws and built VIKI as his first robot, which leads to the conclusion that VIKI has been programmed with the three laws. If VIKI is programmed with those laws, how can she order robots to ignore humans orders and even kills them?
Chosen answer: Viki is following what has been called the 0th law of robotics. It is an extrapolation of the other three with an application toward humanity as a whole rather than individual humans and is interpreted as "A robot may not injure humanity, or, through inaction, allow humanity to come to harm". The idea being that she has now concluded that to fail to take action to prevent the self destruction of humanity itself would be a violation of that law. And being the 0th law, it supersedes all other laws, just as law 1 supersedes law 2 and law 2 supersedes law 3. Her actions may be regrettable or undesirable, but according to the 0th law, they are necessary to save humanity as a whole.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Question: How did the Transformers stay hidden during the days when there weren't any mechanical devices? Jetfire explains that he's been here for millenia, and there are probably more like him all over the world. For that matter, why didn't the Egyptians or the Chinese or the Greeks ever make a note about the Transformers, while their markings are all over the structures?
Chosen answer: A lot of historians, or pseudo-historians some would say, believe the Ancient Egyptians did in fact have technology that surpasses even our own today. And that this technology was handed down to them from extra-terrestrials they worshiped as gods. This seems to fit the context of the movie, where the Transformers would be those extra-terrestrials.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Question: Sam says that the Energon source is before the Autobots. So to find it they need to talk to a Decepticon. Wheelie is the first one at hand, but how does he know about the source, let alone the Seekers, what they look like and where they are? He doesn't look like he is as old as Jetfire, and as he puts it, "Nobody tell me nothin".
Chosen answer: He knows from stories passed down to him from older generations of bots, not much unlike stories about the past passed down to us from our ancestors. His line about no one telling him anything is just a way to avoid being put back in the box or being tortured by Mikayla.

Continuity mistake: During the initial fight scene, the clone who survives the Needle Dive is later on shot by Wesker, upon which she drops two grenades. Where did she pull those grenades from? Ultraviolet (2006)
Trivia: All of the guards are either carrying G36C's or SIGSauer 550's, except for one. The guard who tries to shoot Violet after she has taken the case, is carrying a heavily modified AR-15. This was done because neither a G36C or a SIGSauer 550 could be field-stripped in a matter of seconds, unlike the AR-15, the parts of which also make useful weapons, according to this film.

Ultraviolet (2006)
Continuity mistake: In the chapel fight, during the first attack, she decapitates a few of Nerva's men, and in the shot of Violet's back, you can see those heads flying through the air. 7th Jun 2011
Ultraviolet (2006)
Revealing mistake: During the fight with the men in white suits, all of these men use swords. Violet disarms a few of them, using then to cut or stab them with. But every time she slices, or better, tries to slice, you can see that the swords never actually cut, but are used as a sort of baseball bat. Also, they are sharp enough to cut someone, because Violet's hands are all cut open at the end of this fight scene. It simply means that these swords are blunt props, and that nobody did anything to make it appear that they are real.

Ultraviolet (2006)
Continuity mistake: When the guard with the customized AR-15 enters the room of the case, there are several guards directly behind him. However, Violet has plenty of time to disarm, kill him, and slowly turn around, upon which the guards reenter the room. It is not possible that they have been shot; the gun wasn't anywhere close to pointing at them.

I'm looking for the title of a movie about a racist black man. He even goes as far in his racism as joining the KKK. However, he doesn't know he is black because he is blind.

During those close-ups, you can see the ribbed rear wall of the elevator when the dial is still only at level 3. Compare the wall to when the doors open, it is exactly the same. This means that the elevator isn't moving at all, and that it is just the dial. (00:07:05)

But in the next shot, the pieces of paper are gone. This is not because he slowed down, because the grille is out of shot for less time then it would take paper to fall off. Not only that, but the air blowing at the paper would make sure it sticks on. (02:00:00)

However, after she finishes off Spence, she drops the ring next to him, and in that shot, the inside is clean; or at least the half we can see when it lies still. Suggested correction: The top half of his shield was broken off. When he is standing in front of Thanos' army, you can only see the bottom, intact half.
No no, the mistake is about the wide shot where you only see Captain America really small. He has a full shield there (as he is just CGI).
