National Treasure (2004)

Corrected entry: When the whole group is underneath Trinity Church they give Ian Howe another clue. Patrick Gates tells him: "signal Paul Revere that the British were coming, one if by land, 2 if by sea." When Howe is gone, Dr. Chase asks: "what's going on? If the British came by sea was 2 lanterns, not one." That's exactly what Gates said, so no point for Chase to 'correct' old Gates. One of the two should have said it the other way round.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: She didn't say "If the British came by sea was 2 lanterns, not one." She said, "the British came by sea, two lanterns." When Patrick Gates gave Ian the fake clue he said: "The Olde North Church in Boston where Robert Newman hung a lantern in the steeple to warn Paul Revere that the British were coming, one if by land, two if by sea, one lantern." He specifically said "one lantern" because there was one lantern hanging in the room ("the lantern is the clue"). When Chase corrected him, she was talking about how, according to history, there were in fact TWO lanterns hanging in the steeple of the Olde North Church, not one like Patrick had said.

House, M.D. (2004)

Acceptance - S2-E1

Corrected entry: When they do the MRI on the death row guy, House says that the ink will get sucked out due to the strong magnet. This is incorrect; the only thing that can happen is a bit itchiness or skin irritation.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: He isn't serious, he's saying it to scare the inmate.

The Core (2003)

Corrected entry: After the "Zimsky" bomb explodes, we see the mission control, there the core is fully rotating again, and everybody is cheering. But the 30% bigger bomb hasn't even detonated yet, the one that is definitely needed to "restart" the core. (01:49:55)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: The 30% larger bomb detonates about the same time as Zimsky's bomb. After both detonate, the core starts turning again.

Rumor Has It (2005)

Corrected entry: When Sarah arrives at the airport with her fiancee her father meets them at the baggage claim, however, nobody other than arriving passengers are allowed at that point. They have to go through customs before they can meet their relatives.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: I get picked up at the baggage claim area all the time. Friends or relatives cannot go to the gate to meet anyone.

S.W.A.T. (2003)

Corrected entry: When the Learjet is taking off from the bridge the limo can easily keep up with the jet. A jet accelerates within seconds to 200 km/h and I doubt a limo can drive that fast. If it could it'd be at the same level with the jet only for seconds because the jet takes off. In the scene they stay level for several seconds.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Jets, other than fighters, accelerate slower than you might imagine from a standing start. There have been many "drag races" between cars and bike and fighter jets, and until the jet leaves the ground, the fast cars and bikes can easily beat them. Passenger jets, even smaller ones at full thrust from a standing start, will not pick up sufficient speed for takeoff for some distance, so it is quite possible a large V8 could keep up. They really only gather a lot of speed when they leave the ground.

Charmed (1998)

Correction: If you look into a mirror you are seeing yourself in reverse. When Prue was looking at the scratches on her back they are on the left side becaue of the mirror effect makes it look like it is on the right side.

Eurotrip (2004)

Corrected entry: When Scotty reads the emails in the train he has the exact same message received twice. Once at 28 May and then again at 16 June. Also the @deutchnet.com seems wrong as it would most probably be @deutschnet.com (the correct german spelling). (00:41:45)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: It's possible that Mieke accidentally sent the same e-mail twice on different dates, which is very easy to do if you save the draft - I've done it multiple times. As for the deutchnet part, it's already been corrected. Deutch is an actual last name, so it's quite possible that it was used for a website, and it's a registered domain name as well.

Hitch (2005)

Corrected entry: When Sara drives away in the Mini, she doesn't have the clutch pressed down when she stamps on the gas. This isn't possible as it is a manual gear car. (01:34:35)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: It is possible to physically slam a car into gear without pushing in on the clutch. It isn't recommended because it grinds the gears, which is what is happening in the scene as evidenced by the grinding sounds.

Corrected entry: During the premonition the song Highway to Hell is on at 8:16, when it is real again, it is already 8:24 when the song's in the radio.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Premonitions are not always correctly detailed.

Bad Water - S1-E7

Corrected entry: When Sully and Dr. Quinn head out to look for the source of the poison in the water they make rest during the night. Michaela is washing herself using a mirror. When she puts it down, the mirror reflects on her head and chest, indicating the usage of stage lights, as moonlight isn't strong enough to reflect so brightly in a mirror. (00:13:00)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Sure it is. I've been outside at night and was astounded to see my clearly defined shadow, when the only light source was the moon.

The Island (2005)

Corrected entry: When Jordan and Lincoln escape and Merrick orders Laurent to search for them, Laurent asks him for how long they have been missing. The answer is 4 hours and 36 minutes. Regarding the fact that they are on the run and that they are highly fit and trained, they would have been around 20 miles away. That is calculated with a jogging speed of 4.2 miles an hour. So Laurent shouldn't set the perimeter to 5 miles but 20 or even more. (00:51:35)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Laurent says he is basing the speed at 1.2 miles an hour, suggesting he is taking into account any stopping, backtracking, or detours, in addition to the fact that they are probably not going in a straight line. Thus, a five mile perimeter would be more than enough to begin searching, with the probability of expanding the perimeter once they find some clues as to which direction they have gone.

Corrected entry: After they got kicked out of the plane, the pilot says to the police officer that nobody gets back on the plane, and that it is his call. He only has 3 stripes, so he is only a First Officer, and has virtually nothing to say on the plane when the Captain (4 stripes) is still alive.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Just like when President Reagan was shot, Secretary of State Alexander Haig that he was in charge (since Regan was hospitalized, the VP wasn't in town). He thought he was 2nd in line and not 4th. (VP, House Speaker, Senate president pro tempore, Secretary of State) Character mistake, not a movie mistake.

The Rock (1996)

Corrected entry: When General Hummel calls the FBI director. The director only asks: "Who is this?" and "I wanna know who this is." He says nothing else, but when he hangs up the phone, his secretary says that she'd cancel his reservations. Most surely she wasn't eavesdropping on another line nor could she have overheard the conversation from where she was standing as the phone call wasn't on loudspeaker, otherwise the director wouldn't have had the receiver to his ear. (00:19:20)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Overall this comes down to being a character mistake and not a film one. The secretary might have been told before the director picked up who he was and/or what he was doing. Even if this had not been the case, she might have presumed from what she overheard that she should cancel his plans as it sounded serious. As you mentioned she might have eavesdropped but there is not enough conclusive evidence to say she should not have been able to make the assumption that she did.

The Rock (1996)

Corrected entry: When they are in the chamber defusing the bomb we see the timer at 1:10, there is no slow motion in the movie, however the timer arrives at 0:04 after 1 minute and 14 seconds not after 1:06 as it should. (00:10:00)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Very few films are shot in real time. Much like most films, many of the shots during that scene are supposed to be happing simultaniously. e.g. while Cage is defusing, the other guys are trying to turn the water on, and his partner is panicking, and the cockroaches are dying etc.

The Island (2005)

Corrected entry: Starkweather runs out of the operating room, and then get dragged back. A guy with an open chest would bleed much more than that.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Surgical techniques are clearly much more advanced than those of today and it's not clear what stage the operation is at.

Hitch (2005)

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie, when Hitch jumps on Sarah's car, she brakes and he falls off the roof. Sarah claps her hands in front of her face and gets out of the car. There is no time for her to have switched the engine off or put the car in neutral. As she gets out of the car, either the engine should still be running or the car should make a jump forward because it has a manual transmission. (01:52:15)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: Not neccessarily. I have a manual car and everytime I brake, I automatically shift into neutral out of habit. I have found that I do this even when I am slamming on my brakes to avoid hitting something.

shortdanzr

Corrected entry: Dr. Maturin states that the lizards they see at the Galápagos are "vegetarians". This word wasn't introduced until 1847 by the first Vegetarian Society in Ramsgate, England.

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: As with almost all historical films, modern terms are being used to allow modern audiences to understand easily - the earlier term "Pythagorean" would have meant nothing to them. Standard movie convention, therefore this cannot really be considered a mistake.

Armageddon (1998)

Corrected entry: Shortly before Stamper detonates the nuke we see a computer screen at NASA which shows the asteroid nearly at "Zero Barrier". Only 1 minute later, the screen is visible a second time and the two halves of the asteroid are already beyond the tangent where it would have hit earth on a straight flight. Earlier in the movie it is said that it'd take the asteroid about 3 hours and 57 minutes to get from zero barrier to hit earth. So it's impossible for the two halves to be beyond that line. (02:12:45)

Ronnie Bischof

Correction: This is far too obvious to be a mistake. There is no indication that thei "1 minute" was in real time. We see the screen with the two halves when the guys at NASA are celebrating. They are only celebrating after they are sure the two halves are clearly going to miss Earth.
