Jumanji (1995)

Continuity mistake: After Sarah and Alan have been embedded into the floor by the quicksand, she rolls the dice with her teeth onto the board that's been propped up on Alan's face. The next time we see the board, when Peter's fighting with the spiders, the board's completely flat on the floor, when Alan's head should be propping it up. There's no angle between the main board and the two halves that fold out, but they are bent downward in the previous shot. Also, after Alan moves the board, at first it's relatively perpendicular to his face. Then, a few shots later when the spiders are retreating because of the impending earthquake, the board's rotated 45 degrees and moved farther away. It wasn't moved by rumblings from the earthquake- this is before the ground actually begins to shake. (01:28:15)

The Incredibles (2004)

The Incredibles mistake picture

Continuity mistake: In the dinner table scene, when the family "cleans up" in order to answer the door, Dash's hair is all frizzled and standing up from running around and fighting with Violet. When Lucius shows up, Dash spits some water into the air for Lucius to freeze. Dash then says, "Aww, I like it when it shatters." In that one quick cut, Dash's hair is all neat, almost no hairs frizzled. In all subsequent shots of Dash, his hair's all frizzled again.

The Incredibles (2004)

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Helen snags a ride on one of the rail cars (grabs it with her hands then does her Tarzan imitation), one of the support beams for the track magically disappears to give her more space to grab the car. The camera doesn't cut, or even change position- it just pans, all in one shot. When she looks forward at the track, there's one beam a short distance in front of her, and one beyond that. She turns to see a rail car approaching, and when the camera pans back to see her grab the car, the distance to the next support beam has been doubled- the first beam disappeared. (01:16:25)

The Incredibles (2004)

Continuity mistake: When Dash and Violet wake up on the island, there's a section of rock wall right behind them. The bird asks for ID, Dash wakes Violet up to show her, and she steps forward. The camera switches positions a few times, then the kids turn around and run for it. Before they turn, the rock wall is on the left and there's a clearing to the right- but the complete 180 they make doesn't warrant enough space for them to go around the rock wall- actually, when they turn to run the rock wall is not only farther away from them, it's already behind them. Castle in the Sky (1986)

Question: What is Bob's real movie name? Nathan names him Bob, he's listed as "The Silent Samurai" in the credits, and the director refers to him as Nathan's guardian in the commentary, but is there another name that he's known as?

Chris Moyer Grice

Chosen answer: No one in the movie ever calls him by name and all credits indicate him only as "The Silent Samurai."

The Last Samurai (2003)

Continuity mistake: During the scene where Nobutada's top knot is cut off, his hair magically changes positions multiple times. When the police officer begins cutting his hair, you see his face close up, and there is no hair on his shoulders- it's all behind his head, presumably still connected to the topknot. You then see Nobutada from a distance. The officer's finishing cutting at his hair, and you can see a lot of it resting on the front of his shoulders. The next shot of Nobutada is a closeup on his face and shoulders again, and his hair's all behind his head- his shoulders are clean. The officer then kicks him down to the ground, and his hair's back in front. The two different angles were shot separately- one while the officer's cutting his hair and one where the officer finishes and kicks him to the ground, thus the inconsistency. (01:25:30)
